I'm ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-ck..... AGAIN!!! ANd boy... do I have stuff to catch up on! But, I'm looking forward to taking my time and reading backwards.

Can I tell you it's good to be home?? Well, at least for the next 6 weeks it'll good to be home, then we'll be MOVING TO WISCONSIN FOR GOOD!That's right! We FINALLY found a house in Wisconsin to move into. So...... all you Wisconsinites out there- does anyone live near Merton??

The trip to WDW was an adventure. You think rippin' seams out of a ruffled dress is tough? You shoulda been on my trip with me!! But, it's a long story, so unless you're really interested- I'll just skip it! Unfortunately I didn't find anyone I was looking for while there (Utahmama), but I did look everywhere I went.

Well, just wanted to pop back in and see how everyone was doing.......... but now I'm going back to reading again. I SHALL BE BACK!

Here's dd2's Monsters Inc outfit that she's been wanting. I made a matching skirt last night, but haven't gotten pics yet. I will get it on her before lunch, I promise!!! I used a pair of corduroy's that she already had, I wasn't sure about the decoupage on corduroy, but it works great! I've also started using a nailbrush (for cleaning fingernails) to gently start the fraying of my patches.

TIP for decoupage: If you didn't know this already double stitch your patches!!!!!! The HSM jeans I made for dd8 & dd7 are starting to fall apart! Now I stitch around about 1/4" in from edge, then again about 1/8" inside that. It makes the world of difference!!!

Monsters Inc Skirt. Here's the skirt I made last night... She loves to pose! She does the "cheese" face too!

And here is an outfit I made for a customer. I made one of the tshirt dresses for dgd2! These are some of my favorites so far! The pics are not great, my camera stinks!!!

All of these are GREAT!! I love the Monster's outfit and the Mickey lollipops are just too cute!!! Great job!

I personally have Muffin Topper TOPPERS. Yep proud owner of several "rolls" I'm thinking though without them, the "girls" would be at my knees!!!!

Anastasia now asks where she is! Thank goodness nicholas can't talk otherwise he will be asking also! So, Here is Anastasia in a great snowflake outfit. I did not make it I can not take credit for it! There is a pettiskirt under the top skirt.

No willing model , but here is my outfit from... well you know. I think I am going to make a red peasant top to match using the red (Bottom ruffle) fabric, but wouldn't you know it, not enough fabric!! I have to get more anyway for DN's set. I even made covered buttons!

I finally dusted off my sewing machine, and got to work...and completed my first project. Keep in mind that I am a newbie at sewing, so it is definitely not perfect. I made the skirt, but the t-shirt is from Target...do you think the skirt look OK with it, and do you think the skirt is wearable by my 4 yo to the pumpkin patch field trip on Monday? Since this is my first skirt, I am just really paranoid that it just scream "IMPERFECT" to everyone! I am really not sure about my fabric choice....what do you think?

One day, I hope to be just as creative as all of you here...but for now, I am sticking with the simple things!

Oh, I'm in tears at the thought of dealing with such a loss. I can't imagine what her DD must feel at such an age either.

This is sooo awful! Every parents worst nightmare! I truly can not imagine what that family is going through right now! I started crying when I read this post and saw the pic!!! I will be praying for her and her family! Let me know what I can do if anything!

Yes, you did inspire me! I meant to thank you specifically and got side-tracked. Since the leggings and tee part of the PJs were already done, I just had to sew the side seams and hem of the the flannel then sew it to the top. It went quickly especially once I saw how well the knit matched the green in the flannel. I'd actually hoped to get it done while Zoe was in the bath so she could wear them last night but wasn't quite fast enough.

Lisa, what fabric did you use for the leggings/pants? I have wanted to make leggings for Makayla's skirts (too cold here to wear a skirt alone anymore), but I can't find a cotton knit...any ideas where to find something and what worked for you? We don't have a Hobby Lobby or Hancocks here...darn.

It's rib knit I got at JoAnns. I think it's 96% cotton and 4% spandex. I know it was in the clearance section which is why I only had enough for a short top if I made leggings, too. Our local store doesn't have a big selection of knits overall but they have a decent assortment of colors in rib knit. I took a short online "workshop" for sewing knit tops and bought several colors when JA had their clearance fabric 50% off. I love the look of leggings with skirts and tunic tops but can't always find the color I want already made so I'm trying to make them myself using a pair of Zoe's as a pattern. One of the patterns I'm anxious to try in the Ottobre magazine is for leggings because then I'll be able to make other sizes more easily. I want to try making some in the fabric called panne - a kind of stretch "crushed velvet". I know JA carries that and some Walmarts do as well.

BTW - Another person in the workshop recommended http://sewzannesfabrics.com as a good source for knits. They have some really cute prints and a nice selection of colors for solids. I'm very tempted to buy some of the prints but I want to practice more with the knits I already have first. My hope is to eventually use custom made tees instead of relying on Old Navy or TCP tees to embellish. I like tees to be slightly loose on Zoe and many stores seem to be cutting tees to fit close so I end up buying a size up which then makes them longer than I like. I also won't have to rely on just the colors ON & TCP carry.

How many different materials did you use? I wanted to make one of these this year, but simply ran out of time!! I think I have 15 different prints/plaids/ginghams that could be used for Halloween!!

Hi - I was starting with 4, but then ran out of certain fabrics so I just tried to "fill in" where I needed to to complete a row!! lol!!

I am so sorry to hear about AKSUNSHINE's loss. That is heart wrenching.

My grand bought a sewing machine ( a very basic singer) for me at a garage sale. FOR $3.00!!! She asked the girl to plug it in and saw that it ran fine. It looks like new, or at least hardly used. However once we got it home and thread in it it seems as though something in the bobbin is "sticking" or catching. My MIL and FIL fidgeted w/ it (and the owners manual) for about an hour and I think the verdict is that we take it to the local "sewing machine fixer guy" which is fine, his rates are really reasonable and still cheaper than buying the machine new, but I'm bumed!!

I found a drop waist dress at Belks yesterday for $1.98 that totally wanted to be "transformed" into my Gatsby dress for halloween. I'm pretty exicted. and I was going to knit a cloche hat (which I still want to do) but my mom said "Will this straw hat work?" and it totally will, but it is brown and I need to dye it black- has anyone ever dyed a straw hat before. I was thinking I may need to spray paint it, but I'm not sure how that will hold up. Today at CVS they had all of these hair accessories 90% off and I found a pony tail holder w/ a flower on it that is JUST PERFECT for my cloche hat for .$0.29!!! B was fussing about spending money on costumes and things are just falling into place...I'm so excited!!

Any suggestions?

I was off the board for 2 days and can't possibly comment on all of the outfits posted but they are all gorgeous!!!

I've been out of town all week, and there's no way I can read everything I've missed. I've skimmed through the pages to catch the awesome creations (great job, everyone!).

The big news (for me) is that I came home with my Birthday gift - my DH got me the Brother 7700! WOO HOO! I've taken it out of the box, and read a part of the manual. I'm going to attempt to thread and figure out the bobbin this evening. I am so excited! I can't wait to get this machine to hopping!

Thank you! I was just looking at some vintage cloche's online and I think maybe I can just use the straw hat as a form and cover it w/ fabric. It'll be costume quality only, lots of hot glue and stuff but it's only 4 one night and it's only 4 me, right?
The brim is a bit bigger than I wanted, and I was afraid to cut it but if I'm going to cover it anyway I can maybe just hot glue around the edges so it doesn't come unravelled.

WOW lots of choices at sewzennes. I am going to have to shop that one. I got a Burda pattern that is for stretch knits only and it had leggings which I want to make for Makayla. Only way she will be able to wear any of the things I have planned for her this winter. Thanks a million! I know what you mean about tee's. Nothing fits her in a teeshirt...I love to custom make everytrhing to fit her just "so".

Love that Zoe...what a pretty kid...she is growing up so fast...it doesn't take long, unfortunately. Both of you are so blessed. I get teary eyed every time I see the two of you. Adoption is so wonderful. Susan

Thanks everyone! My dd will wear the halloween skirt to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. Now I want to make her one of those t-shirt dress. I think I know how to attach the skirt to the t-shirt, but not sure about the pattern of the skirt.... do I just measure the hem of the t-shirt, and then cut out fabric about twice the length of the hem of the t-shirt to attach to the t-shirt? I think I will cut two piece for the skirt - one for the front of the skirt, and one for the back of the skirt...would the two pieces be just rectangle in shape, or should I angle them? Am I making sense? Any tips on making a t-shirt dress would be very much appreciated!
