 I'm so glad to hear that the baby is doing well!!!!!   That deserves an additional 3 jumping guys!! :yay: :yay: :yay: and some dancing girls :dance3:

My DS could help, he would get a kick out of it. Last night he sewed a drawstring pouch for some rocks:rotfl: :rotfl: Ah, 9 year olds..Then Liliana got one of the rocks and hit my dad in the head:lmao: :lmao: Ah, 2 year olds.

Hey, there's an idea! My DS8 has been bugging me forever to let him sew something. A rock pouch would be perfect! Thanks!

I have a question about making a three-tier skirt...the third tier is made out of 3 pieces, and the directions say to center one of the seams on the center of the back middle tier....so does that mean that the other two seams on the third tier isn't alligned to the two side seams from the middle tier? I hope I am making sense... thanks!

Yes, that means the 2 other seams are not aligned with the side seams on the middle tier. Usually if you are using a pattern there are some marking dots on the pattern piece that you would transfer onto the middle tier and line those markings up with the other two seams on the third tier. Did that make sense?

Yeah! I finished the Buzz outfit!!! Lydia loves it!!! Me too actually!! I even finished the top! I decided to go with a paesant blouse with spiral sleeves. I need to put the ric rac on the top yet, but other than that, I'm done! YIPPEEE!!!

Lydia was in "model mode" so she was doing some goofy silly 4 year old faces! And, she insisted that that leaopard print material "headband' really went with the outfit!!! :rotfl:

Ok, here are way too many pictures for yah!!! We tried to take some pictures where you could see the ric rac glowing in the dark, but we haven't figure out how to do that yet! Just believe me when I say it looked really cool!

A close up of the fabrics. The blue "moon" fabric is also very sparkly.

Oh my! This is just too cute! I love the fabrics together! And those sleeves are FANCY! Very cool idea to do the spiral on the sleeves, too! It turned out great!!!

I really need to go back and read thet pages I have missed.... There are some cute outfits being posted here!!

Here is my latest creation:

And a close up of the fabrics and trim:

Very cute! Perfect for the whole fall season! I love the trim you used!

Ok I finally got up the nerve to get on the sewing machine and learn! Here is a picture of my first skirt! Yay! I practiced on this one with fabric that was $1. I know it's simple and not Disney, but I just can't believe it turned out ok to wear!:lmao:
th_rei008.jpg

Wow! Congrats on finishing your first skirt - it turned out awesome!!

And, I almost forgot - welcome back, t-beri!!

I'm in between projects right now and can't figure out what to do next! I have entirely too much fabric and way too many ideas and I just can't focus on just one thing - it's like I have sewing ADD or something.

Hope everyone's having a great day - the weather here is awesome today - slightly cool out and sunny! My favorite! I think we'll go to the park after nap, so maybe the fresh air will help me decide what to start next!

I also picked up more fabric last nite. I think I'm going to make twirl skirts and overalls. I am working on appliques, but haven't figured it out yet.:confused3 Any tips?

Great job! I've discovered it gets easier with every outfit I make! Your DD is adorable. We Disboutiquers really do have the cutest kids ever! Where did you get that Nemo fabric? My DD2 has just decide she loves "Memo" almost as much as "Lella" (Cinderella).

PIXIEDUSTINAK: Fan-tastic!! So glad your doing well and baby is safe. Since heather did not do the happy dance for you I will...:woohoo: :woohoo: :dancer: party:
Hope this cracky's you up!
Yep, still funny.

I got it at Wal-mart:thumbsup2 Hope it's ok to say the store name, not sure.:confused3

First off..... I'm really glad that I didn't offend anyone. I spent some time recently with a friend of mine who is killing herself trying to "keep up" and it has just been weighing on my mind lately.

Now...........

Here's Drew in her Halloween outfit. She wore it to school today and to tell you the truth I was a little shocked that she wanted to. She gets a little shy when people comment on her a lot and I thought that she would think this was a little "loud" and worry that maybe she'd get too much attention. She seemed o.k. with it when the lady at the car drop off lane made over her though!

That's our Hannah Montana wig on my "favorite kid!"

THANK YOU!!! Thank you!! I feel like a total idiot now because on the pattern there were little circles, and I had no idea what they were for! That makes perfect sense now. Thanks!! I can't wait to get it done and see how it turns out.

Thanks everyone! I have checked out the first page and the links too. I tried cutting some mickey heads out of extra fabric last nite and attaching to heating bond. I then stitched around the edges. Lets just say it did not turn out pretty. Am I going about this the right way? I didn't print and go directly by the links. Maybe I should try that.:lmao:
IGREAT job on the skirt!! What a gorgeous girl you have!

Go you! That skirt is darling!

Love the outfit, especially the skirt! Your dd is beautiful!

Thanks! And thanks to everyone for the compliments!

I know we're not supposed to apologize for our dd's hair so this is not an apology (because I am a rule follower!) , but I really wish Drew would let me do something cute with her hair. She says that Kindergarteners are supposed to wear ponytails and that is all she will do now!!!! She used to let me put it up in "messy buns" and it was soooooo cute, but now she says that people will laugh at her. I'm lucky if I can get my 10 year old to even brush hers so I guess that the hair thing is going to have to be one of those "pick your battle" things at my house and I guess since it's on their head I'll have to give in. I hate giving in. I would really rather get my own way. I wonder where my kids get it??????:confused3

:headache:

So, I am working on Riley's Halloween jeans and I really wish I could burn them!!! I hate doing decoupage. HATE HATE HATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a "random" gal. I really prefere measurements and patterns and formulas. This is driving me crazy and I can't even just put it up for a while because it's already practically the middle of October!

 Now just imagine you have a 9 yo boy who will neither cut nor brush his hair and a 2 yo who screams at the top of her lungs everytime you try to brush her curls. Oh, Brother.

In any case Drew looks adorable in her halloween outfit, I'm sure the other kindergarteners were jealous!!

TIP: if you are doing mickey heads it is easier (IMO) to draw the mickey head onto the paper side of the heat-n-bond and cut out a square around it...iron it onto the fabric and THEN cut out the mickey head. It is much easier to cut a shape out of fabric one you've attached the heat-n-bond.

What??? I come back and you all take a day off?? What gives?!?!?!

Anyway over on the budget board there is a thread about homemade holiday gifts and it made me think. You know on Amy Butlers website (www.amybutlerdesign.com) you can go into her sewing pattern section and there are FREE patterns. a few quilts, a yoga bag, some pillows, a cafe wrap skirt and an eye pillow w/ slipcover and carrying case. thought this would be something you girls would be interested in. I'd imagine that you could make eye pillows out of the scraps you've got laying around and they would be really great gifts for coworkers or friends. You know when you've got to have a present/ something nice but not too much. You know what I mean. And the cafe skirt is really cute, it's ankle length but you could probably shorten it easily enough.

Hey TJ (or Heather as the case may be) how 'bout a book mark!!

That was all, I just thought about it, I wanted to do it last year but time ran out on me, I might try to do it this year and knit some chenille washcloths and make bathsalts...VOILA a spa basket. OOh that's a good idea!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: I'll be taking orders through Nov:lmao: :lmao: I cracky me up too.

Ask and you shall receive. I put it under "crafts" and under "sewing". There's some cool free stuff on there. Thanks for the Christmas gift ideas!

My sister and her husband are installing a new patio door on their house today. I hope she doesn't mind me saying this, but they're not real handy. :rolleyes1 She needs our good thoughts today!!

I hear you on the random thing with the decoupage jeans. I always think they are cute when I see them but my analytical mind will always try and make a pattern or put the patches is some sort of order. I haven't tried them yet for this same reason. I'm sure they will turn out great. Can't wait to see them.

I still have just under 2 yards of Minnie dot fabric left after giving liv4diz 1 yard for the o'alls she's making. So, I'd like to re-offer it to anyone who hasn't been able to find it at your local WalMart. Just PM me and I'll pick someone by about 6:00pm tomorrow (hint, if you make me laugh or cry [but not 'cuz you're being mean], you'll have a better shot at being "randomly selected").

Here's a picture of it, so people will see the fabric and wonder what this post is about.

I'll second that. I love it, it turned out great but man am I afraid to try that spiral skirt. It's very intimidating!

I thought so too, but it's really easy! Actually cutting out the pieces is the hardest part, after that it's pretty simple. Well, I say that while staring at mine waiting to be hemmed because I'm scared to tackle that part...

I am still scared to try one of these skirts and the peasant top scares me too .

The pillowcase top/dress used to be my safety net cuz it was so easy... not the peasant top is it is SUPER easy and you will love it! I made one last night after dinner! It only takes an hour or 2 once you get the hang of it! I use the one in TJ's bookmarks, I think it's justtutes.com or something. I have it printed out so I don't remember the exact link, sorry!

Cute skirt! And tips for appliques... use a good stabilizer, use bobbin thread, overlap your pieces, and Practice, Practice, Practice!!!!!!!

I just got back from Hobby Lobby and Hancock fabrics. I know I know ...everyones favorite stores :thumbsup2 I have the material in the was machine now. I'm going to ATTEMPT (yes attempt) to make my daughter a High School Musical cheerleading :cheer2: outfit for Halloween. I can only hope that it comes out half as good as the one who posted a ways back. Please wish me luck :goodvibes and I will post when I'm done with it. Unless of course, Im too embarassed :confused3

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: You can do it!

I also have a sewing related question. How do you keep the bobbin thread from unraveling off the bobbin when you are storing them? My "bobbin bin" is a mess of tangled thread and it's driving me nuts. Any tips?
How about a small piece of tape?

I don't know why, but this made me laugh so hard! :pixiedust: to you TJ!
