My DS could help, he would get a kick out of it. Last night he sewed a drawstring pouch for some rocks![]()
Ah, 9 year olds..Then Liliana got one of the rocks and hit my dad in the head

Ah, 2 year olds.
I have a question about making a three-tier skirt...the third tier is made out of 3 pieces, and the directions say to center one of the seams on the center of the back middle tier....so does that mean that the other two seams on the third tier isn't alligned to the two side seams from the middle tier? I hope I am making sense... thanks!
Yeah! I finished the Buzz outfit!!! Lydia loves it!!! Me too actually!! I even finished the top! I decided to go with a paesant blouse with spiral sleeves. I need to put the ric rac on the top yet, but other than that, I'm done! YIPPEEE!!!
Lydia was in "model mode" so she was doing some goofy silly 4 year old faces! And, she insisted that that leaopard print material "headband' really went with the outfit!!!

Ok, here are way too many pictures for yah!!! We tried to take some pictures where you could see the ric rac glowing in the dark, but we haven't figure out how to do that yet! Just believe me when I say it looked really cool!
A close up of the fabrics. The blue "moon" fabric is also very sparkly.

Ok I finally got up the nerve to get on the sewing machine and learn! Here is a picture of my first skirt! Yay! I practiced on this one with fabric that was $1. I know it's simple and not Disney, but I just can't believe it turned out ok to wear!![]()

Great job! I've discovered it gets easier with every outfit I make! Your DD is adorable. We Disboutiquers really do have the cutest kids ever! Where did you get that Nemo fabric? My DD2 has just decide she loves "Memo" almost as much as "Lella" (Cinderella).
Yes, that means the 2 other seams are not aligned with the side seams on the middle tier. Usually if you are using a pattern there are some marking dots on the pattern piece that you would transfer onto the middle tier and line those markings up with the other two seams on the third tier. Did that make sense?

That's our Hannah Montana wig on my "favorite kid!"
IGREAT job on the skirt!! What a gorgeous girl you have!
Go you! That skirt is darling!
Love the outfit, especially the skirt! Your dd is beautiful!
Thanks! And thanks to everyone for the compliments!
I know we're not supposed to apologize for our dd's hair so this is not an apology (because I am a rule follower!) , but I really wish Drew would let me do something cute with her hair. She says that Kindergarteners are supposed to wear ponytails and that is all she will do now!!!! She used to let me put it up in "messy buns" and it was soooooo cute, but now she says that people will laugh at her. I'm lucky if I can get my 10 year old to even brush hers so I guess that the hair thing is going to have to be one of those "pick your battle" things at my house and I guess since it's on their head I'll have to give in. I hate giving in. I would really rather get my own way. I wonder where my kids get it??????![]()
What??? I come back and you all take a day off?? What gives?!?!?!
Anyway over on the budget board there is a thread about homemade holiday gifts and it made me think. You know on Amy Butlers website (www.amybutlerdesign.com) you can go into her sewing pattern section and there are FREE patterns. a few quilts, a yoga bag, some pillows, a cafe wrap skirt and an eye pillow w/ slipcover and carrying case. thought this would be something you girls would be interested in. I'd imagine that you could make eye pillows out of the scraps you've got laying around and they would be really great gifts for coworkers or friends. You know when you've got to have a present/ something nice but not too much. You know what I mean. And the cafe skirt is really cute, it's ankle length but you could probably shorten it easily enough.
Hey TJ (or Heather as the case may be) how 'bout a book mark!!
That was all, I just thought about it, I wanted to do it last year but time ran out on me, I might try to do it this year and knit some chenille washcloths and make bathsalts...VOILA a spa basket. OOh that's a good idea!!!![]()
I'll be taking orders through Nov

I cracky me up too.

So, I am working on Riley's Halloween jeans and I really wish I could burn them!!! I hate doing decoupage. HATE HATE HATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not a "random" gal. I really prefere measurements and patterns and formulas. This is driving me crazy and I can't even just put it up for a while because it's already practically the middle of October!
I'll second that. I love it, it turned out great but man am I afraid to try that spiral skirt. It's very intimidating!![]()
I am still scared to try one of these skirts and the peasant top scares me too .
I also picked up more fabric last nite. I think I'm going to make twirl skirts and overalls. I am working on appliques, but haven't figured it out yet.![]()

How about a small piece of tape?I also have a sewing related question. How do you keep the bobbin thread from unraveling off the bobbin when you are storing them? My "bobbin bin" is a mess of tangled thread and it's driving me nuts. Any tips?
My sister and her husband are installing a new patio door on their house today. I hope she doesn't mind me saying this, but they're not real handy. She needs our good thoughts today!!
