Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 4

Last night I had the rather irritating realization that the fabric I got to make dd4 a shirt out of won't work...it's too scratchy. Of course, that was the only fabric that Wal-Mart had that matches the outfit I'm making that I liked. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to get something else when I can go to Jo-Ann's & Hobby Lobby.

On the up side I got to work on their Halloween outfits alittle more. Now, dd4 7 I can't agree on fabric for the bodice of dd1's twirly top. I told her I'd get a second opinion on here. :rotfl:

So waht do you think? Bats or candy corn?

I agree with your DD. I like the candy corn.

I personally like the candy corn best and I am thinking of doing something similar with the candy corn fabric I've got. Mine came from Wal-Mart but I saw that Jo-Anns had some too but the black background was a little different. Where did you get yours? Sorry for siding with your daughter too!

I got all of the fabric except the black 'Boo!' at Hancock's off the clearance table. It was last years stuff.

I like the candy corn. I was just worried that it might be a little dark, especially since she'll have a black shirt on under it.

sorry...I too am with the 7 yr old..I like the candy corn...the black backround helps the skirt to POP !...perhaps the little one has a design career in front of her...;)

Are you going to any kind of appliqe onto it? I've tried to decide, and I just can't... I like them both! My dd6 voted for candy corn.

That's "cool", get it? snow, cool? Whatever!!!! I like the ricrac on the bottom, but I've yet to be able to find some like that! Every time I find some, it's not the color I'm looking for!

No applique this time. I may on the Christmas ones though.

I've found the really big rick-rack at Hobby Lobby. The color selection isn't great, but they did have several colors.

...speaking of ITCHY TOPS...I am attempting a shirred top with cotton fabric this weekend...has anyone had their DD's complain of it being itchy or "tight feeling"...I am going to try to make it a little looser than average, but I am afraid that I will do the whole thing and it will have a bad feel on her chest - anyone have any bad experiences....

Very cute! Is this for your christmas trip?

I just wanted to share what I finished. This has been an inbetween project. I keep putting it down and coming back to it. I am working on some costumes so I need a break from the satin.

If you line up all the fabric and ric rac this would be 51 feet.:scared1:

Ok, so here's a pic of the tutu part of the pirate costume! I still have to make the part that ties around her waist (does that have a name?!) But wanted to show you what 100 yds looks like on a 4yo! I just had to show you guys tonight, so she's a bedtime pirate in jammies!

I am a lurker on this site, as all my kids are grown and I have an 18mo old grandson. Soooo, I love this skirt, but have to ask....100 yards????:scared1: That is 300 ft! That just doesn't seem right to me. (Besides the cost of it! You could buy it for less money if that's the case.) Could you please clear this up for me. Thanks!

BTW...It is an adorable skirt and your daughter seems to love the "twirl factor".

Thanks!! It is for our Christmas Trip. The babes is getting a little version too. I am going to do long sleeve shirts with Snow Mickey's appliqued. I just cannot choose if the snowmen should have snow mickey ears or mickey hats.

It is pretty "cool." LOL that was cute.

The ric rac came from Jo Ann's I bought it by the yard. It was a little expensive. I used the 40% off coupon but I needed five yards just to cover the bottom tier. I used package ric rac for the other.

So what do you think about the snow ears? Also, should I do stripped tights? I cannot choose.

Luv2dressemup - Great tutu! Good thing my dd's not into tutu's because I don't think I'd have the patience for working with that much tulle.

Jajone - LOVE the tutu's! They are so cute with those shirts too.

myweefeet - Great job on the tank and I love the bag.

100acreprincess - I have to agree with your daughter as well, I really love the candy corn.

aimeeg - The skirt is great! I was admiring that mickey snow fabric at JoAnn's this week. I think I'd do shirts in the bright blue with white snowmen wearing black mickey ears. (Don't forget an orange carrot nose!) I think striped tights might be too much with the patterns in the skirt but I always lean toward the plain side.

DD4 wouldn't wear a shirred top I made her because she said it was itchy. DD1 wears it as a dress now. I didn't think it might be because it was tight. She hasn't said anything about any of the other shirred things I've made her.

I think hats would be cute. I'm not sure about the stripped tights. It could be really cute, but it could be a little too much. I guess it would depend on what color the tights were.

It's 100 yds of 6in strips, not off a bolt. You can buy rolls of tulle usually in the wedding or party supplies.

Thanks for the tight advice so far. I would like to be able to find a subtle glitter or snowflake.

Jo Ann's clearanced a bunch of colors of rolled tulle. They are around $.99 and you get 20 yards. $5 tutu you cannot beat that!!!

They also got in black and orange. They are $2 a roll but still $10 for a tutu that full is great.

I know that LisaZoe posted this awhile ago, but when doing a stripwork skirt where you make the pieces shaped like a triangle what is the correct proportion? How big at the top and how wide at the bottom? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Considering the bows are not done perfectly, just pinned on to get the general picture... or no bows

And speaking of tutus...My version of Snow White costume for Storybook Bfast-sorry no model tonight, it's too late.

The shirt to go with
I love all the tutus and I also vote for no bows. I really like the yellow pleated ruffle on the bottom of the Snow White t-shirt!

Where did you get these fun tshirts? I haven't seen them before but on this board.....
Check them out at http://disneyshopping.comJust search for "Cameo tee" and "studio collection tee". They're 4.99/each and you get free shipping if you spend $80. They have really cute studio collection jeans for $14.99, too. I bought the shirts a few weeks ago for $3.99 with a coupon code. They also had them at the Disney Store for $4.99 last week.

I love what you did to the shirts... be careful with the snow white one.. I bought 11 of these shirts last month.. almost all of them have faded big time. The one minnie mouse one you had hardly see any of the designs around her anymore
How did the shirts with gold on them wash? I bought a few of them a few weeks back.

So waht do you think? Bats or candy corn?

My daughter is pretty picky about textures and she's never complained about her shirred tops.

I bought a few patterns from YCMT with the code. My question is how do I get them? It says they are PDF files, so I assumed they would be emailed. I ordered them this morning and have not received anything yet. How long does it usually take? I am anxious to start a dress for Katie.

Thank you.

When I purchased of YCMT there was a button to click on the confirmation page. It would show the item that you purchased and a button to download the PDF. Then you just save it to your computer.

When I got a couple a few weeks ago, right after I paid I was able to view them in PDF and then save them. They were never emailed and I was never able to view them again. That was the first time I ever bought anything from there so there may be a way to view them after the fact, but I don't think so. You may have to contact them...Hope this helps.

Thank you for the quick replies. I do not see a way to view them after the fact  I was really busy and on the phone (on hold with Gymboree) when I placed the order. I think my mind was on trying to add something to my gymboree order and I should have been reading what I was doing:) I did email YCMT, so hopefully they will be able to help me.

Thanks again!

No Way!!! I am caught up!
Its taken me a week, but I've done it.

I also got the new fancy-smamcy sewing machine DH owed me :cool1:
I hope to dive in this weekend.
I want to make a skirt for DD.
Any one have a easy diaper cover pattern or instructions?

You all are making some wonderful costumes.
Beautiful stuff.
