Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

We have two water view rooms booked for the first week of October for our first stay here - really hoping we don’t get scaffolding views.

If I’m given a room with scaffolding covering the balcony I’m going to request a different room or resort if necessary.
Based on where the scaffolding is in the picture from this afternoon, only rooms on floors 4-7 in the upper courtyard would be impacted on the Resort side.

Looks like they put scaffolding up (and plastic tarps) along the hallways from Artist Pointe to Roaring Fork. We checked in on 8/31 and saw the
Thanks for the update. Are you seeing additional scaffolding after the corner past the elevators across from Roaring Fork outside of your room on the 1st floor where the Guest rooms are located?

The work from Artist Point down to the corner at the Roaring Fork turn / steps out the the courtyard was first reported on August 15th including the plastic over the windows.

Yes the photo I saw would be a courtyard view but I also saw some water in the photo so it could also be considered a water view which is what I booked. So keeping my 🤞that I get a view without the scaffolding.

Unfortunately, the current water view rooms are the former courtyard view rooms. I had a little argument with the CM at WL when the "water view" room that I booked overlooked part of the roof and a little bit of the stream. They wouldn't reclass our room to resort view even though there was a lot of roof in our view. But I still love WL. :)

No view of the scaffolding from our room—can see pool and the courtyard. We’re in room 1027 and that entire side of the resort is free fro scaffolding.

Ahh, so by "water view" they mean the rain that collects in the gutter 😉

Ugh I would be mad if I paid extra for a water view room and got that.

I’m sure that’s going to happen to me as well🤷🏻‍♀️ but as you know I have very special memories of WL especially Old Faithful although it’s been awhile since I’ve been there. We always stayed on the 7th floor but so much has changed now even the pool is different.

Not much has changed at the main pool. Maybe you are thinking about the new Zero entry Boulder Ridge Cove pool between the South wing of the main lodge (CCV), and the BRV DVC building.

There is also the Geyser Point Bar & Grill (walk-up, no reservations required) right on Bay lake, and the 26 waterfront Cascade Cabins part of the CCV. They both opened in 2017.

Wilderness Lodge Lobby Patio Closed During Copper Creek Villas Refurbishment

Refurbishment work has expanded on the exterior of the Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

The patio at the back of the lobby is now closed due to construction work. A-frame signs in front of the doors read, “Please Pardon Our Pixie Dust – This Area is Being Refurbished for Our Future Enjoyment.”

On the right side of the patio, a tower of scaffolding reaches up to the third floor, which has been closed for a few weeks. Disney originally announcedconstruction would wrap up this month, and that timeline is still present on the Walt Disney World website.

Some crew members were working on rooms on the third floor during our visit on Friday.

Another crew member on the opposite side of the patio was working on the facade. Green barriers were set up around the sidewalks for crew members. These walkways are closed to guests for now.

It looks like part of the fake logs on the exterior of the Wilderness Lodge had been broken away and reconstructed. This crew member appeared to be painting over the white plaster with fresh brown paint.

Around the corner, the windows of this hallway are covered in white scrims that let in some light but block construction from view.

Here’s a look at the white scrim from outside. There was previously scaffolding in this area, but it’s gone now, indicating work higher up on the exterior is complete.

Yep that room might be just as bad as the scaffolding…but I’m glad you still enjoyed your stay. Do you think it’s worth paying the $$$ for the Club access?

I think that the rate of $149 per day for club access is is a great value if you are someone who enjoys the benefits of the lounge. We frequently add it to our WL stay. But we also eat both breakfast and dinner in the lounge on those trips. I like to get my money's worth. :) I hate the dormer balconies on the 7th floor, so this is a good way to get the room I want.

But when we travel with family we like to dine at restaurants. We would not add cl access to those trips.

Just got back from our split stay at WL. Really really enjoyed it. Even though we live in the PNW, it was just so incredibly themed and relaxing. Loved Roaring Fork—and that biscuit that comes with the tomato soup.

Our room was a tad odd. We didn’t book a HA but got one anyway. Only one sink. There was an alcove by the door that was perfect for parking one of the scooters we had but it was not a good spot for charging. There definitely was an outlet but it was covered up. The closet had no place for hanging clothes at all! But the shower was terrific and the room had plenty of space to park 2 scooters.

The rooms were so quiet. Didn't hear anyone in the hallways, toilets flushing next to us, nor did we hear anyone above us.

For the week we were there, we lucked out every time but once in getting bigger, ac edible boat. And never waited more than a few minutes for the buses—best bus service at a resort we’ve ever had (realize this is likely just a fluke)😁

My only real criticism of WL was the pool-situation. The day we went to the pool, there were zero lounge chairs available and it was child soup in the one hot tub that was working. We went over to the BR pool and didn’t have access to it since we weren’t staying DVC (for some reason, I was under the impression you could use both pools). A CM did let us in but we felt weird and didn’t go back after our illicit use of the pool. The main pool did seem to be better in the evening but we were absolutely exhausted.

All in all, really loved our stay and can't wait to return!
