Karrierock ~ where did you get the Little Einstein outfit? My dd4 loves them!

princesssfws ~ How do you make a rag quilt?

Thanks!

I made a Belle dress out of gold lame lined and underlined with gold sateen. Will the lame melt if I iron the sateen with the lame under it? How do you get wrinkles out, or don't you?

THanks a million

Susan

Thank you! I thought this was going to be the solution. :headache: I made a t-shirt for my daughter with sharpies once - bled like crazy, so I guess I will just get a fabric marker.

So, here is the skirt I made her. It didn't turn out as well as I thought it would. But she likes it and insisted on wearing it to church yesterday. It is cords and some sueded poly.

It's GORGEOUS!!!!! I love pink and brown together, and it looks so fabulous in patchwork....you did a great job!

Good luck on your woody shirt! Is your dd going to be Jessie?

That Boo applique is wonderful. I, too, can't wait to see the whole ensemble cast appliqued. Nice Work.

Rag quilts are my fave! I posted one a few pages back it's in "gator"...

Your Gators quilt is what prompted me to make one. The one princesssfws posted and gave instructions for had patchwork on both sides. I was thinking yours was a plain blue back. If so, did you cut the blue into squares as well? Am I making sense? (I seem to ask that question a lot on this thread!)

I did an orange and blue back... I did cut everything into squares though. I am in the process (HAHAHHAHA more like I have the squares cut) of making one thats a curious george book panel with some multi color dot fabric inbetween and then it's all red furry fleece on the back and the back is all squares... It won't have batting but I am going to do it the sameway. Am *I* making sense....

Oh I have an extra Muppets quilting book that would be great for applique's it includes the sesame stree characters too... Im thinking about doing a little giveaway type game.... I'll let you all know more tonight.

Here are some pictures from our trip in April. I finally figured this out!:yay:

Here are some pictures of t-shirt dresses I made w/ Tinkerbell fabric and a tinkerbell iron-on. If anybody is looking for a picture of Alice here they are w/ her.

Pictures at Marrakesh Restaurant w/ the belly dancer in t-shirt dresses. Plain and easy to make!

Although they aren't customs, these are smocked dresses that my girls wore for CRT that had Cinderella and the carriage around the neckline.

This dress is a t-shirt dress that my MIL made and I appliqued the Mickey head onto. I love the skirt on this dress!

Okay, now I feel like a real member of this forum since I figured (I hope!!!) out how to post pictures. I'll add more as soon as I get them up on photobucket. Thanks to everyone who helped me figure this out!

Perfect sense! Thanks! I'm so excited to start my quilt. Can't wait to see your Curious George!

To make one you cut all your fabric (front and back) into 6" squares and your batting into 5 1/2" squares. Then you make 'sandwiches'. Back fabric, batting, front fabric make a big X in the middle. Then arrange all your sandwiches into rows and columns, whatever dimensions you want. Then you sew them together with a 1/2 seam. I do all my across rows and then join them. Kind of like making a patchwork twirl skirt. But the hem is on the outside and then you make small cuts to make it fray. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

For some reason the tear away stablizier decided to tear away as I sewing so the letters are really jaunty!

steph - don't tell anyone else that! I thought you were being "jaunty" on purpose! It looks great!

Yeah, I don't get it (Weeki Wachee) either! Sorry Teresa :confused3
I can forgive you, Deann, because apparently YOU have never been there. But Heather???? She's been there numerous times! :confused3 Where did we go wrong?????:confused3

This was a bit of a challenge for a beginner but it came out fairly well. The seam ripper and I got very close. And I am convinced the Ruffler foot has it out for me; the thing kept jamming but I figured out that I needed to say a little prayer with each stitch and it behaved a bit better.

It is not Disney but I think DD will wear it to AK in just 10 days!

This is SOO cute! You did a great job!

Cried...alot. She was all set to try to buy me another one 1 hr before the ceremony, but there was nowhere nearby and mine was ordered to match the dress so it would have been hard ot replace. And then I saw that it was on the second layer, and was covered a bit by the top layer when it was pulled back....so it was OK in the end. There is a picture of her 'fixing my veil' on my head that the photographer insisted on taking. Now I laugh when I look at it, but at the time I was still pretty upset.

Oh dear!! You guys must have been so upset! My photographer made me and Heather pose for that "fix the veil" picture too. Which I found really annoying, since it was so posed. Not that heather didn't look adorable, but it was my MOM that fixed my veil, and he didn't bother to get a picture of that!
My cousin had candles at her wedding, and she leaned to close to one and caught her veil on fire! The marriage didn't last too long either.

I love it Steph!!! It looks really cute!

This is wonderful!!!! The fabric selections are gorgeous!! I love it!

This is amazing!! Love it!

AIMEEG Love everything you do -- I can't believe you've only been sewing for 3 months. You are one talented cookie!

Castlecreations Did you happen to see Brent on the Travel Channel last night? He sounded like he has an accent of some sort. Immediately thought of you when I saw him. DH thought I was off my rocker when I started screaming -- there's Brent!

I did see him. He's from Austraila...isn't he a doll!!!

I think I showed you all this one, before it was finished. Well I finally got the waist band on it and took my pictures for Valedemort, or Wallyworld, or whatever we're calling it..:rotfl:

Yeah, don't tell anyone that the jaunty letters aren't on purpose. They look cute just like they are.

sahm1000 - I forgot to quote your post, but your girls look so adorable and their outfits are so cute! I just love your oldest one's hair and it looks like the baby will be equally blessed with curls!

I know I showed you all a few pictures of these outfits in progress - but I thought I would show some of the finished product. Thanks for looking!

They came out great! Are you happy to finally have the Hannah outfit all finished? I think the top you did looks wonderful with the skirt.

Oh MY GOSH! You did an amazing job! I just did my first try at a satin stitch today (the Hannah top I posted - I did the heart) on a T shirt. It was so frustrating! The T kept stretching and messing up the stitches. I did all the things you did - with the exception of the embroidery thread. I am wondering if the presser foot it too "tight" to the feeding teeth. It turned out Ok - but looks nothing like yours. I am so impressed!

Well, thank you :) I wouldn't worry about your work, from what I understand, a t-shirt is harder because of it's stretch. My presser foot has 4 settings and I put it on the second tightest, but again, I wasn't working with knit.

Making sure we have the twirl factor

Now *that* is some twirl factor! Love it!

We're off to the World for a short weekend in 12 days! DD5 think's we'll never get there!

Skirts are done, need to decide on the tops:

I'm a quilter, I like patchwork. She likes long skirts (this goes to mid-shin). We like the red top with it, so I need to work with that and ditch the white I was planning on. 2.25 yards of fabric, 1/2 spool of thread, and since this is the second, I'm dying for my gathering foot to come in.

th_MickeyTwirl2nofacereduced.jpg

I like the patchwork on the long skirt. Looks great!

Hi all we are off to start our holiday from Australia in 15 more sleeps and will be in WDW in 25 more sleeps so am trying to finish of the outfits I with the help of my DM and DMIL. This is the first one. My DM did most of this and I thankyou for the person who originally inspired this for me I think they had Alice on theres. I know my stuff will never be as great as the things lots of you make but I think she looks pretty good in this. Thanks for all your help and tips.

I think you all did a great job! I like the fabric choices.

Here is a pic of the flannel rag quilt. The front:

th_disboutique042.jpg

Thanks for posting this! I like the idea, maybe I'll give it a tray with Disney fleece.

I think it looks great!

I think the pink & purple is perfect. Where did you get the skirt pattern? I've seen them before, but I've never seen a pattern for one.

I think the skirt is really cute & if she likes it then it's perfect.

This is reason I can't wait to go to WDW. I think I'm more excited to see dds reaction to meeting her favorite characters than I am about being there myself.

That is how it was for me. The parts of our trip that were priceless were meeting all the characters. That was all she really cared about. We also rode the teacups a lot!

Perfect sense! Thanks! I'm so excited to start my quilt. Can't wait to see your Curious George!

If you haven't already - get some rag quilt scissors - I started the gator one with regular scissors and I couldn't finish it without getting them, my hands hurt so bad...

I have a question for the rufflers out there.. I don't have a ruffling foot but would like to add a tulle ruffle on the bottom of the halloween outfit can someone guide me a little??? How would i do the ruffle on the top of the bodice as well???

Here is my Mickey head Santa for my DS. I think for the girls I will add a ribbon across the shirt. I used fleece for the white parts.

Glorib- want to come do my Nemo applique for me. :) Your Boo is Awesome, can't wait to see Sully and Mike.

Has anyone seen long sleeve orange Ts for girls anywhere. I want to applique a black cat on to one for Halloween but haven't had success finding one. Thanks for any help.

Now I've got to work on DD5 Halloween costume. 2 down, 1 to go.

They have them at Childrens place. The shirts have a little bit of bling on the top corner but a cat would fit perfectly in the center. The best part is . . .$6.99. I bought DD a black one for her halloween skirt.
