My dh and I went on a date yesterday, we got up at 5am and drove to Gatlinburg TN and Cherokee NC. I've never been to either and it was a learning experience. We now know where to go next time and where to avoid!!! I guess you can compare it to living in NY your whole life and never visiting the Statue of Liberty! No fabric involved in the trip, although I did look for a Joanns everywhere we went just so I could try getting that ruffler again! No luck!
Aimee, do tell... who makes the calico dresses? I can't seem to recall them.
Did it match then? I can't wait to see what you make! [/quote]I'm making skirts using the Lilo fabric and some Elvis fabric. They'll wear them with a tshirt designed by someone on the Creative DISign board. I love seeing the Lilo outfits!
I immediately thought of Sammy Hagar!![]()

For those that were looking at making a tutu, here's my first attempt. I used 9 and a half yards of tulle that comes on the bolt and cut it myself into 6 inch strips. I didn't think it took all that long to tie. I added some sparkly tulle and ribbon as well. Not sure how well you can see it.
My daughter is almost 8 and 50" tall. She wanted it almost ankle length. So if your DD is smaller I would imagine you would use less tulle.
Here are the pictures of the customs we'll be taking next week for Gracie. I took pictures of the outfits with matching bows, jewels and shoes. Some have more than one choice of shoes! I'm waiting on one more thing that may or may not go to Disney... a tulle Minnie dress from Voldemort... it's over the top! If I think it will work for MNSSHP I will take it, if not Gracie will wear Snow White and use the Minnie tulle dress at home.
So, if you're at Disney next week and see us... say hi!![]()

These next two outfits will be used for diaper bag outfits in case a quick change in the park is needed. Usually Gracie isn't messy but just in case...

I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, but I bought some E-6000 yesterday and on the back it listed all of the types of materials it would work on, on styrofoam it said 'not recommended.' It might be too harsh for foam. I wouldn't want you to ruin your Mickey.![]()
Gracie is going to be the best-dressed little girl at Disney next week!!! Have a MAGICAL trip!!!

You named your fridge Tom???![]()
How funny but I am glad "he" is out of your living room. That gives you space to eat!
Or sew?
You just crack me up!
Wow Aimee I just LOVE your fabrics and I want to move in with you so we can sew together!Just kidding! I am not weird
I can't wait to see your creations. Did you already get your patterns? I need a few more to work on my big princess creations. I really love the Belle colors so maybe I will do that when I get finished the 10 projects in cue. Oh yeah then there is work and hubby and kids and stuff like that...

Thanks for the tip! I wouldn't want to ruin it either! The Mickey head is just foam, not styrofoam, I wonder if that would make a difference.
Ok, one of you with the E-6000 glue, try it out on some foam for me!
just a note, on the back of E6000 glue it says "according to CA law, content can cause cancer." Just an fyi before you go buy it.
Thanks to this thread I have been inspired by all of the creative ladies and gentlemen to learn how to sew! Suffice it to say a couple of weeks ago I did not even know how to turn on a sewing machineFortunately part that was included in lesson number one
We also praticed sewing on scrap fabric in straight lines...ok well they were supposed to be straight lines
and in circles which brought me to the immediate realization that it will be a loooong, looong time before I can even think of appliquing a Mickey head on anything

I bought my first pattern and chose a Simplicity one that had the word "easy" on it. In my warped sense of logic the brand "Simplicity" should equate to simple and the word "easy" on the package should imply that it is in fact... easy. Yeah... no... not so much. I could literally hear a deep evil and sinsiter "Bwaa Mwaa Haa Haa" emanating from the pattern paper as I attempted to decipher what on earth I was supposed to do with itHow thess makes sense to anyone without an architectural or enginerring degree is beyond me

Well, the pattern pieces have been cut and some of it has been sewn. My instructor even suggested I do a decorative topstitch. To which I replied that I didn't think people who couldn't sew straight lines should be doing decorative top stitchesI gave it a go and actually sewed straight
I'll be darned if my fabric isn't staring to resemble an article of clothing
I'll post pics when I'm done. Everyone's kids might be in college at the rate I'm going though
