Here's the latest princess nightgown I made. I've used this pattern so many times it's not funny. This is may favorite variation though.

Here's a Minnie peasant top I made DD3.

th_2007_08220054.jpg

She's loves it, and I wish I had gotten more of the Minnie dots. I'm planning to add a ruffle to some capris to go with it, but I haven't gotten to them yet. Apparently, I need to be working on 60 things at once or I'm not happy. I'm planning a Cinderella birthday party in about 2 weeks & I'm still trying to get the Cinderella dress to be poofy enough. Any tips on making really poofy petticoats?

Could you tell me about the peasant top? Did you put a casing in the middle (about at empire waist length?) It looks like it may be gathered there? Is it a casing, or did you shir it? I've got the basic peasant shirt thing down, but would love to add this extra element.

We are there the Sept 14-23 - ooohhh - we should all be able to recognize each others kids - LOL - if we run into each other!

We'll be the September 14-22! I'm sure I'll be looking at every kid in a cute outfit and wonder who they are!

Oh!!! Me too - we'll be there 15-22!!!! Staying at ASMu. I have been lurking here FOREVER and sewing pillowcase dresses - I'm trying to have seven dresses per girl for our trip. I'm at about three now and the rest I'm doing either the halter style or with a pretty three tier pattern I found. I'm gonna post when I get them all done. They are nothing fancy, but my girls are so excited about them!! Maybe we'll see ya there...

Speaking of UtahMama - I followed your TR last year through the whole event - I just got caught up to your pictures of Norah and I CANNOT BELIEVE how much she's grown since your trip!!!!!! On the trip she still had that baby look and now she's such a beautiful "big" girl!!!! And your outfits for her are awesome!

I want to thank everyone on this thread for giving such great ideas - I can only hope to create some of the gorgeous things seen on here, but i've sure enjoyed it!!!!

Rachel

This isn't super fancy - but DD has a HSM T-shirt and I am making some embellished ribbon capris to match.
Also, I am working on a twirly skirt with musical notes all over it - I am making a Hannah Montana outfit , but was thinking the other day that it would also work for HSM. I think I will make two tops that match the skirt - one Hannah and one HSM.

The website we don't mention, had a HSM boutique"spinny" skirt. I think you could find it searching for High School Musical boutique.

I found the skirt and it's ok, but I think I like the idea of the decoupage jeans! I'm gonna try to find some musical note fabric, and some stars or something. I can have someone on the DISign thread make something to iron onto shirts, then pull colors from that DISign!

Thanks for the ideas!

It was the same way in my house growing up. I am older than my sis by almost 3 years and even when kids at school were saying there was no santa, I didn't want to believe them. My sis stopped believing long before I did. I think I was almost in Jr High before I really started to think that Santa was made up. But just like you we still get stockings at mom and dad's house! :santa: I think it is something that all kids should get to enjoy and believe in, there are not many magical things in our lives and they should get to believe in the magic as long as possible!!! Of course the neighbor kids are already trying to take that away from my kids 5 & 6 and my poor DS 5 hasn't even got to lose a tooth yet!!!!:headache: I hope the older kids can keep thier mouths shut when my DS1 starts to lose teeth!

If you thinking getting your kids to believe there IS a Santa is hard, try convincing your child that there ISN'T one! We don't do Santa in our house (husband is Catholic, I'm Jehovah's Witness) and we came to the agreement that even though he celebrates Christmas with them, I preferred he didnt' do the Santa thing. (Ok, I'll be perfectly honest here, I'd prefer he didn't do Christmas either!)Anyway, it was going along very nicely until my son, the imfamous plaid panted Corey, got to about three years old. Then, everyone kept asking him if Santa was coming etc.. etc... At first, he politely told him that Santa wasn't coming to our house, we didn't believe in it.. These adults would go out of their way to try to convince him otherwise. Even though I was standing right there! Well, he was absolutely positively convinced that we were simply lying to him, and that there WAS a Santa.
It's hard being a parent sometimes! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

These are leather. I suppose painting on canvas would have a better "hold" on the paint. I used a special spray paint for the yellow that is designed to grip rubber and plastic. Because of the smooth leather surface it has more of a shine to it. I really wanted just a satin finish, but the special spray paint only came in a gloss. The dots are done in acrylic, and then I sprayed the shoes with a clear spray to set everything. I felt like the ric rac really made these "pop". I love to paint!, I have created painted clothing in the past, but sewing is what I currently do most for others.;)

Here is some of my other work I have done in the past.

I love the little dog on the surf board! That would look so cute on my nephew Sawyer!
OK...Stop everything and check out this auction. It is HILARIOUS!!!! Search voldemort: Lot of Pokemon cards my kids tried to sneak past me
You can shorten the search!! LMAO!!!

That is just about the funniest thing I've read in a long time!

I just bought some musical note fabric at Joann's the other day. It was in the quilter's showcase section Or quilter's premiere. Anyway, it was with the quilting fabric!

Apparently, I need to be working on 60 things at once or I'm not happy.

I'm the same way, I have about 6 projects going right now and I'm wanting to add 2 HSM outfits to that!

What pattern did you use for the peasant top?

U-Mama- I LOVE Norah's Alice outfit!!! SOOO Cute!! Sorry, I lost your multi-quote somewhere along the line.

What a neat idea! Your DD is just such a cutie, too!

Much love to all the adoptive parents. :love: :love: :love: (3 minimum)

-Michelle

Aw, how sweet, a 3 love minimum :love: :love: :love:

The code is : WWMAG
I just bought 8 new patterns! Yes, it's 20% off and good until October.

I was like 10 pages behind. My grandma died-she was a love.
th_rie.jpg

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. :hug: My thoughts are with you. I lost my grandpa-in-law (who was also one of my best friends) last December and I still miss him dearly. :sad1:

teresajoy - I'm confused about the pic of your son. How did they fit him when he was 1 and still at 14?
Can y'all defy the laws of physics? :confused3

Poor corey! give your mom and your aunt heck for torturing you!

First of all, I had nothing to do with it.:rolleyes1
Second, I understand your confusion. When I posted my first Dis creation, I also posted that the last thing I tried to sew was a pair of pants for my nephew, 15 years ago. I said they turned out HUGE and that they're probably still too big (or something like that). So, my wonderful sister forced my poor nephew to pose wearing said pants on their front lawn (and yes, they have neighbors) and took a picture, just for me. :love: :love: :love:

I'm going to bust Corey here. He actually called me and told me to check the Disboards after his mom posted the picture. I think he thought it was pretty darn funny, too! :rotfl:

So cute! I want to try making a peasant top one of these days.

I need to vent!!!

Saturday we are going to the Renaissance Festival. Since DD is so into princesses we are going. DH and I do not care for the whole festival. Not to offend the people who work there are just really really really weird!

This weekend is kids weekend and they are having a pirate a princess party. So, I think hey I do not have enough going on in Aimee Land lets make a renaissance princess dress out of special occasion fabric!!!! Way to go Aim!

So, DD goes to Jo Ann's and picks out $10 a yard fabric. At least I have the coupon and my pattern was $.99. The blue glitter fabric she picked was 60 inches and my pattern called for 45 inches. No problemo . . . my "super speedy" fabric cutter said you do not need that much he is the conversion. Okay, I say because both DD's and DH are with me.

We get home I read the pattern twice. I cut the fabric but wait what is this . . . I do not have enough blue fabric!!! So I think okay I will use the lining fabric for the inside of these ginormus sleeves. I have to take DD to cheerleading in the morning I will go to the Jo Ann’s there.

It is 2:00 a.m. and I am off to bed. The next morning DD goes to cheerleading and throws a huge fit because another Mom went into the gym to take pics. Of course Mommy had to come in too. (That is a no no at the Little Gym.) I tried to melt the woman with my eyes. It did not work.

I ended up having to leave Cheer so she would participate in her last class. I walked to Jo Ann's and guess what no lining fabric. I asked a employee and she actually said I do not know . . . I DON'T WORK WITH THE FABRIC MUCH!!!!! This was not a super Jo Ann's. It was a little fabric store.

So, I picked out new lining fabric and used my online coupon so I only spent a couple bucks. I get home re-cut all the lining. Last night I went to my smocking class so I did not get to work on the woodland princess gown.

This morning I get up take care of the girlies and as suggested by Utah I gave them cold cereal and blues clues dvd.

Everything that could go wrong did . . .

I sewed things wrong, I cut things wrong, seems puckered, and I spent more time with the old seam ripper that I care to admit. Then it happened- I lost my instructions. I spent 30 minutes just looking for page one of the pattern. Okay, I am feeling better. I found my pattern and I am ready to make sleeves that are as long as my DD is tall.

Then it really happened- I have lost one lining sleeve. I have looked every where. I even dug through the trash twice!! I do not have enough fabric to cut a new one and I so do not want to go back to Jo Ann's!!!:headache: :headache:

I can't stop crying!!!!!! The worst part about that, is I know where she is coming from... I have five and I'd rather do anything than take them grocery shopping!

That is kinda what I am doing for my Hannah shirt. I bought some iron ons from - well that auction site - and I am going to put it on a shirt with some hearts I cut from the music note fabric on the skirt.

We too have unique holiday's. I am a Christian and my DH is Jewish. The really funny this is my business is the Aimee Gomberg Collection. I get a lot of looks like why is a Jewish girl making Christmas decorations. Anyway, Dh has totally embraced Christmas which is really cool.

I did however have to sit my in laws down and explain under no circumstance where they allowed to ruin it for DD's. I figure I have until Kindergarten if I am lucky.

We do celebrate Chanukah. Not to the same extreme though. We love Chanukah CHarry. He brings tube socks!:laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

Here are a couple pics of the fabric I was telling you about - I am doing 2 rows of the note fabric with the dot fabric in between. I was working on this last night - just got into a groove and ran out of black thread!!! Off to JoAnn I go this afternoon.

I bought that same fabric for dd2's Little Einstein outfit! I know I'll have extra, great idea!

:thanks:

It's sooo cute...I haven't shown the picture to my dd's because they will want it ASAP!!

You dd will be walking along...:rolleyes1 minding her own business...and the police will tackle her...."sorry madame...we suspect you have something hidden in your sleeves....Hmmm...what's this...one pork chop, a bottle of diet cherry pepsi, a Lime green mickey head button, and hmm...scratching head...100 plastic walmart bags...:confused3 :lmao:

Bwa-hahahaha! I think you know me too well! You just never know when nice pork chop will come in handy. :laughing: There'd be at least 3 lip glosses too.

Your bracelet is great! You are one multi-talented mama! Those little scapbookin' mickey heads keep finding their way to Norah's hair bows! A little hidden Mickey.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm working on a diaper wipe case for my near-potty trained dd. It's a nice use of scraps. I figure it can hold some plastic bags and underpanties and a pull up or 2 just in case!
SUPER easy!!!! Thanks for the link, Teresa! (it was you, TJ right?)
You bought the note fabric from JoAnn's too. Has anyone seen it elsewhere? I don't have a JoAnn's that close so I am just trying other options.
