i tried that code today and a message came up that i need to be logged into my acct to use the code. what acct are they talking about? do i have to set up an acct w/ ycmt first? has anyone used this successfully?????

I think that you have to set up and account first and and then you will be able to use it. It is the basic name, address info, etc. That was the code that I used a few days ago and didn't have a problem with it. Good luck!

=CastleCreations;20392125]Hi All, I just found out we will be at Disney for the MNSSHP, or whatever it's called...Yea!! So now I have to find costumes for my dd's.
So far the ideas are....Tinkerbell sitting on a toadstool..(there's something like it on our favorite auction site), or a car hop at Minnie's Diner...
Anyone else have any ideas that aren't princesses, witches, devils, or hanna montanna...LOL
When I asked my littlest if she wanted to be Shirley Temple for Halloween, her reply was," Who's Shirley Pitbull?":rotfl: :rotfl:

Someone else suggested Dorothy. My girls were Dorothy and Glinda last year. They got tons of compliments and it would be perfect for the Great Movie Ride at MGM which we rode about 10 times last month!!!! I'll try and post a picture tomorrow.

I am wondering where the striped ruffle fabric came from. I really love this outfit and would like to make something similar. Since my biggest issue is always coordinating fabrics I would love to know where the stripe fabric came from. I know I can get the Michael Miller fabric at various places.

Thanks!!!

I'm working really hard on my first patchwork twirl skirt. On Lisa's advice I'm making each strip much longer. Boy is it time consuming!!!! I've been sewing for days and still have not started actual construction!

I LOVE the Alice costume. How difficult was it?

I don't know how I missed that? Happy Birthday to you too (belated)!!! I was hoping for a machine too, but DH got me a new tattoo- he knows I've been wanting a new one and I think he thought it would make me feel young- funny. It's a pretty swallow on my shoulder (the front side)

Hope you get your machine sorted out that's kind of a bummer. I know I was ready to take my new rotary cutter home and start on DD's stripwork top.:rotfl:
...t.

Ok....A tattoo for your bday, that's cool. I don't have one but have thought about it. My biggest thing is I can't decide what I'd want to live w/forever. It would freak alot people out in my world but I just love the idea of it...Now if only I could commit.

I'm gald I'm not the only lame one looking at 2 yds of minnie dot thinking " that could be a matching top for me!!"

I NEED purple pooh toile. None at my waldemort, they are nixing their craft sections...  and they had crap there.

any help??
...t.

I have lots of blue pooh toile. My waldemort has (had?) it for $2 a yard. Would that help??

you're welcome, any time! :)

Like we reeeally needed another way to cram A TON MORE STUFF into this thread, right ?! ;)

I'm glad I finally noticed that those little blue arrows, in the QUOTES, refer you back to that original post ... ("duh", on me!) ... it really helps conversational continuity :) especially when you're lagging back about 30 pages ;)

I just figured those things out last night. It makes it much easier to figure out what people are talking about.

Thank you! I had seen pirates with striped pants before, so I thought why not? I bet Tammy will look great! Especially with a red/white sash to go on it! And, ummm arent' most pirates close to being convicts anyway.....:rotfl2:

Let me preface this with, my child is not perfect, she is prone to teenage angst and drama and has earned he title of "Drama Queen" in our family. But she has her good moments! This explanation will be fairly long...

MY niece is a single mom with a 6 yo son. She doesn't have much money and isn't able to do things for her son. My dd was telling her cousin, my grand nephew, about getting to go to WDW and he sat there and listened and asked so many questions about it that when she came back to talk to me she said, "how come they never go" I had to explain to her that they didnt have the money. She asked me why not? I had to explain that being a single mom was hard work and you didnt always have alot of money and how lucky she was to be able to go to WDW as much as we did.

She then asked me if she paid for it, would they be able to go with us? I told her that was a big responsibility to make that much money and that if she thought she was up to it, and if they wanted to go, I would agree to it. But I wouldn't be able to help her much with paying because of so many medical bills. She said okay, she understood. She asked my other niece if she wanted to go also and when she said she did but couldnt afford much, she said if you will pay for your ticket and part of the room you can stay with christi, (the single mom). And then she worked ALL summer to make the rest of the needed amount of money to pay for their tickets and room. She worked hard. So my nieces and grand nephew have her to thank for their trip to WDW. I am trying to make clothing for them to wear so that they don't have added the expense of clothing for the trip.

If she knew I was telling on her she would be so embarassed.

How wonderful!!!! That made me cry! What a great kiddo she is. You must a wonderful mom to have such a thoughtful girl. I hope my kids are as thoughtful someday. My dream is if I ever have extra money (anyone have the lottery numbers?) to start a foundation strictly for kiddos who never been to Disney and are financially not able to.) I just always think it's sad to meet someone who's never been to Disney especially if they really want to go. I'm sure lots more important things to give money to but this is what I love. I always remind my kids how lucky they are to go as often as we do.

We were at Costco this morning and they had a Brother 7700 sewing machine for what seemed like a good price. But when I went onto Brothers website to check it out...its not there. Hmmm? Any thoughts? I did a search and it only seems to be at Costco.
Anyone ever heard of this one Model XR7700?

th_196977.jpg

I bought it. It's been out of the box once:) I don't know how to sew and as soon as I have 5 minutes my mom is going to teach me. It looks good though and the price was right. I can try to answer a question about it if you have any. I asked on here once before about it and never got an answer. I bought it anyway because I can return it anytime to Costco if I hate the sucker.;)

It's exclusive to Costco! It's even better than the 6000 because there's more stitches, i noticed, And it has a little picture frame on the outside...open the picture frame to a stitch menu. Basically it's the same, but costs $144.00!

I wish I had seen it before I spent $186. (?) on my 6000 at Walmart. Ya think they'd return it? :cool2:

SAME super easy bobbin too. :upsidedow

Good to know it's similar/better than the famous 6000. I almost took it back and got the one everyone talked about.

$144! Wow! That's a great deal! I don't have a Costco here, but I have a Costco card. I wonder if my husband would notice if I came home with home the next time I passed by a Costco?

Costco will ship to you. It's $189 on the website incl. shipping. The $144 was a coupon price at least that's how I bought it. I think the coupon ended 8/20.

Please tell your DD to ignore the idiots! I can understand how she feels, though, since I'm an adoptive mom, too. I even had a family member (by marriage not blood, at least) who commented that I was smart to become a parent "the easy way". I tried to ignore the comment as her ignorance and youth plus hormones since she was pregnant at the time. However, after she'd said it a few times on different occasions I finally explained just some of the things I had to do to qualify to adopt, i.e. a financial check, medical exam, get a background/criminal check, meet with a social worker several times, I have my home visited to make sure it's suitable for a child, etc. I was VERY tempted to tell her that getting knocked up at 18 like she did was a much easier way to become a parent. ;) Of course, as the mature person I am (:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:) I didn't say that... out loud.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I'm not sure how you refrained. That is too funny

Marcy,

It IS amazing how many strangers feel they have the right to comment on our families. I had a salesman walk up to me and loudly ask me "where she came from" So I said, "What you don't know where babies come from"? He slunk away and I "chatted" with his manager. I finally had a tee shirt made for me that says "You don't have the right to question my family". Which I wear proudly :cool1:

I have 2 sons (twins) who are no longer living. I remember all the stupid comments people made and they would irritate the *&%! out of me. I won't get into it here but really just amazingly dumb stupid thoughtless stuff. My mom would always tell me "they mean well". Yea I know but the thing is I listen to same stupid &*%! all the time and really the "good intentions" are really just "bad manners" as far as I was concerned.

My last pregnancy I was really big. I had more thoughtless comments then I could have imagined. Really you would never comment on anyone's size in general why on earth would you tell a hormonal, miserable, tired pg woman "Boy you're big" "Are you sure you're not having twins". Really anything other than "You look wonderful" is probably not a good thing to say if you don't want to get hurt:rotfl: I told my co-workers (I worked w/the public and usually it was complete stranger making these comments) I'm going to write a book on pregnancy manners.

I work for a children's retailer and we see all sorts of families all the time. I've learned to take the lead from the parents. Some volunteer information right away and others don't and I don't ask.

I know I've been lurking more than posting lately (it's the only way I can keep up with this *enormous* thread anymore). I just wanted to pop in and say that I love everyone's new outfits! You've all done some amazing work! I can't wait to see more. I've got a couple more almost done, and a few more in the works. I'll be sure to post pics once I finish. Keep up the good work ladies (and Tom :) ) !

*Castle* don't forget to post pics when you return home from visting the Mouse. We'll all be waiting with baited breath!

Our dates of our vacation have been kinda screwy....so we went to Sea World, last week. This weekend is a couple of nights at All-Star Sports, and Sea World again, Playhouse Disney Live, and maybe Animal Kingdom...
In October is all of the parks, and MNSSHP... So everything is spread out...LOL, but I did actually book the room for October. right now we are at Riverside, but I want to change to AKL.... We'll see what the finances look like in a week or two...:rotfl:

I love your Alice dress....It's gorgeous....do you care to share what pattern you used....I love it!!!

One more serger question. Do you buy serger thread for every single project like you do thread? Or do you have a few basic colors since it's on the seam and not seen? I'm seeing how this thread could get pretty pricey!

I bought extra white and then I had to surge black fabric:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I think I will get black and pink to add to the white.

Oh!!! You shoulda! Your girls would look adorable and hip in that kind of outfit, especially in pink and brown. I'm sure you've got a bumload of projects
waiting to be done.

Also, I notice the huge black and white trend lately. Even in quilting! Hmmm, maybe it'll grow on me?

I want to attempt to CAB (copy and butcher) it, but alas, I have a ballerina/witch to create (for Norah, not me) and MINE is a Hocus Pocus type witch...the 4 males in my family can figure something out that goes along with our orange and black silly theme.

And an Animal Kingdom outfit and Epcot. The friends around the world outfit is done. Nemo is for "Future World day" as opposed to "world showcase day" at Epcot.

Oh, everyone! I'm sending out an SOS for black and orange striped tights or leggings...only if you actually SEE them, though! It may be a smidge too early, but be on the lookout, pretty please? :flower3:

I found the tights at Gymboree in orange and black for babies and girls. The Children's Place has Halloween tights with a pattern on them too. Last year I got orange and blakc tights at Target but only in big girl sizes. Good Luck!

I love your Alice dress....It's gorgeous....do you care to share what pattern you used....I love it!!!

I love this dress too! I did not put trim on Hannah's apron. Oh No!!! I think I might have to make a new one for next year.

I used McCalls 4948. It can also be used for Dorothy.

One suggestion....I had a wonky one too, I boxed it up and returned it. I told them it didn't work and got another. That one is fine. How long ago did you get it? If it's recently, I would consider switching it out for another one.
Are you using the plastic bobbins that came with the machine. Make sure they're the right size and that the thread that comes off the bobbin when you insert it, goes to the left, before you wrap it around.

Thank you so much for the advice. I think I am going to have to just return it and try a new machine. I have only had it for 1 week.

Okay Ladies, and Tom...I just wanted to show you all that I haven't been lurking...I've been sewing too...

This is the Spongebob outfit that I have been working on for my professor's grand-daughter..it has matching pants too...

273407323.jpg

This isn't completed...almost...I'm still working on getting the buttons on and the jeans...
273407333.jpg

273407329.jpg

This is a dress for Miss Ireland to wear to school, over a tee...I haven't made the pants for this one yet...but I loved the fabric...
273407328.jpg

WAIT till Spongie sees THAT! Uh Ohhhh! I just called her to take a look and she FREAKED!

The purple and green dots & daisies is really cute with the wavy ruffle! Did you make that up? Sheeesh!

Of course I love everything you make, but the Ragedy Ann is TOO Precious! I really like that color blue with the red and white!

You are my idol!

Here's a "semi-custom" that I put together today. The greatest thing is that it cost a whopping $5.00! I went to K-Mart (or is that koldemart?)(I can't believe I just typed that!) to search for the sequince appliques. No luck there, but I saw this really cute dress on clearance for $5.00. I purchased it in a size 24 months, cut off the bottom ruffle layer, made a pair of capris out of white fabric from my stash, and added the cut off ruffle layer. Waa-laa!
IMG_2781.jpg

Great thinking! I like how it turned out.

My first attempt at the peasant top...

and can you believe these are the best pics I could get...that silly wiggle worm wouldn't stop. And pardon the messy face I interrupted snack time.

peasanttop1.jpg
peasanttop2.jpg

Good job! I have two peasant tops on my to-sew list, how easy or hard was it?

Well I finally finished one of the outfits for our trip last night. This is my grand nephew who will be going on the trip and I told him to look fierce!

IMG_0091.jpg

:rotfl2: at his fierce look! Great costume. Thank you for sharing the story of your oldest DD, she is very special.

Eeyore's Tiara thank you so much for sharing that story with us, I love reading things like that. She sounds like a wonderful girl.

Ok, I got my pictures. Here is what I made last night. All opinions are welcome.

100_1667.jpg

Should I do the face and hair in matching thread instead of black? Should I make capris to go with it or skorts? What color? Should I alter the jeans as orginally planned? Why is it so bloody hot here? HELP!

I really like the outfit. I think the face in black looks perfect, but I'm wondering if the hair in a matching color would look better? I vote for capris, maybe black? You could applique a few flags to match the fabric and use the red dot for a ruffle.

Thanks for my outfit:laughing: but i don't think it will fit me:confused3 i absolutely love it (being spongebob's #1 fan.. )
the other ones are really cute too but i love the spongie one the most..

A tattoo is way cooler and hipper. Alas, I am not cool at all. My friend, Scott, did make me an awesome b-day cake with little fondant cactus on it and we had a big party on Saturday. I felt pretty young and hip dancing with my girlfriends to 80's tunes. But I saw the video clips the next day and lets just say.... not so cool and hip.... :rotfl2:
