Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

Ok.. here goes my posting of my FIRST piece of clothing EVER made... I've been dabbling with applique, and then decided to try a skirt... and I'm sooo :yay: that it actually LOOKS like a skirt, you don't even know! :cool1:

I let my daughter (who is three) pick out the fabric, and I thought it wouldn't really matter since the chance was small that it would end up looking like a skirt.... now I wish I'd picked some different fabric to showcase my incredible skill (haha not really) :)

I still plan to applique around the mickey head (i was thinking in green so you could see it, but I have no green thread)...

Oh and I think I sewed the entire skirt with embroidery thread (weight 41?) so it will probably unravel while she is wearing it... but I'm still so tootin' excited!

Its times like these that I wish my mom was still with us. She was so creative and could sew almost anything...

Anywoo... enough of my babbles and on to the unveiling! (lol) :rotfl:

Very cool!! Great job! I think appliqueing the mickey head in green would be perfect!

Congratulations! I love the fabric, personally, and especially how the Mickey head frames it just so. Good job! :woohoo:

Say it isn't sooooo!

2CuteKids- (heyyyy it didn't quote you!)...My DN(ephew) was a Robin Hood and his little baby brother was a "Bag of LOOT!" And the next year, he was a pirate and his little brother was a treasure chest! It was spectacular!

I cant wait to see the parrot!
A treasure chest...that's funny!!!

There is the CUTEST bo peep and matching sheep costumes on eb*y right now. (Not the $600 one) I don't think I could talk DH into dressing DS up like a sheep!!
search zoe j boutique!

OHHH!! I found a pattern to make this costume!!! Simplicity 3687!!! It's for sizes 7 and up. Anyone know how to alter a pattern to fit smaller? It has a PIRATE too!!!

Cute, my Dh keeps wanting me to do a Star Wars outfit for Ds. I think it would look good with green thread or maybe white.

skw444 -very cute! I love the fabric in the minnie twirl skirt.

Ok, it has been a busy week, but I managed to complete two projects. The first is a backpack I made for a friend going off to college. My DH nearly died when he saw the fabric sitting on the dining room table! And then he nearly had a stroke when I put it one of the children to take a picture. Oh well, I hope my friend will like it:

And I did make a purse. I have decided that I really need a pattern to make things. I had to rip out the seams and start over so many times and it's still not perfect. I put the handles on backwards and I made it too deep because I forgot to multiply by 2 when I was figuring and cutting. But it's a start, right? I even made a pocket!

Wow, the Stars Wars skirt is so cute! I love it!

Since someone brought up halloween costumes, is this a good time to list them on ebay? I have a couple of infant costumes I want to sell, but I want to get the most for them. Also, what about custom boutique resells? I have this outfit I want to list.

I just got back in from taking an Applique Class!!! I no longer fear the applique or the different stitches on my machine!!! They even tought me how to use my ruffler foot!!! YEA!!! :cheer2:

Ohh, what fun! I say ignore that housework for the weekend and create!

Does anyone know where I might find some tinkerbell fabric that is pink and green. Or just pink or green? I found some green, but it had lots of purple and blue and I am trying to stay with pink and green. Thanks!
Jill

I haven't posted much on here even though I'm addicted to this thread because well, I have no sewing machine! But I've been reading and keeping ideas for when I take the plunge and get a machine. Anyway, until then I'm buying my customs for our WDW trip (only 4 more weeks ). I wanted to share pictures of my girls in two outfits I've recently bought thanks to 2 very talented ladies on here. If you want info on who made them, feel free to PM me.

Minnie Twirl skirts. I bought black shirts and I'm going to decorate it with rhinestones in the shape of Minnie.

And of course, showing off the twirl:

ok!!!

I did my Minnie Head Applique! ::MinnieMo I hope it ok! Apparently, stablizers are NOT for wussies. I didn't use it. I just pinned, but I made it hard on myself. But it looks OK. I 'll post it with the minnie print shorts I'm working on at the moment. I'm maximizing the kids' naptime. My chores are sort of done (minus folding the never-ending laundry).

Hey! Riley's my DS7's name!

DANG cute!!! I love twirling girls!!!:cutie:

What pattern did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

So funny . . .

Tonight my DH did not feel like doing his homework. No he is not 10 he is in graduate school. So he hung out with me in what he likes to call my crafting" cage." (A woman at a craft show had a cage like structure that she painted ash trays while her husband worked the floor!) I call it the Art Room.

I set up one of our desks as a sewing desk. I bought a thread holder and hung it up tonight. I even started a desk top sewing basket with my little gotta have notions. I brought down my antique sewing supplies lion. Those little girls better not touch it! I already saw Hannah eyeing up today.

My husband saw the two dresses I made and was talking to me. He giggled and said they were really cute. The one with the camo Mickey- he said Aimee the smocking is beautiful. I in return said thanks hunny bunny but thats ric rac. At least he has been half way listening. I pulled out my practice smocking. (I did more tonight.) He was amazed that was done by hand. He thought the sewing machine did it.

I then started to show him my idea book. I was working on my Crystal Palace outfits and all of a sudden DH starts telling me all the sewing terms he knew. I think he said hem, elastic, sewing machine, felt, and smocking. He was really proud.

I showed him some other fabric I had. Like for Mickey's BBQ and Ohano's. I did not dare pull out my real stash. That has the 15 yards of minnie dot. I am trying to decide what to do for Hollywood and Vine. I pulled out my three choices I already had and said I just can't decide. I do not know if I want to do a random Mickey outfit or Jo Jo specific. He told me he likes when the girls match and we both agreed the girls are not Jo Jo crazy. He said why don't you just make all three.

I was like they have two outfits for each day! Not to mention princess costumes. He said no biggie- some days they will have three, kissed me on the forehead and went to bed!

BTW- he even sat through some of the photobucket link!

Goodness you've got a KEEPER!!! I've got one too!!! I don't know why but reading your post made me a bit weepy!:lmao:

thanks for sharing!!

Ok, girls...I am in search of some fabric.

I am in the process of making an Ariel outfit for my daughter. To make a long story short, I sent some fabric off to an Ebay seller to have her make me a peasant top and she never sent it back. (I got an email from her saying she didn't want to make me the top--she was busy...:sad2: ) So, she hasn't sent me a top OR the fabric back, so I am just going to do it myself..

Here's a pic of the fabric...

It's made by Cranston Village...Anyone have any of this already?

What is a bias tape maker? I have been cutting and ironing strips of fabric to use instead of bias tape. This tool would eliminate that? How? I need more details please!

It's super cool! It is made by Clover. You cut the fabric and insert it into the tool and it basically just folds it over. You iron it as you pull it through and it turns into bias tape! I haven't used it yet, but I am really hoping it works. I got mine at a quilt shop for $7.50. It's probably less than that if it available at JoAnn or Hancock or someplace like that. I would look in the quilting area. If you really can't find it anyplace you can contact the ladies at my quilt shop and I bet they would sell it to you and mail it. They aren't selling on-line yet, but I am kinda hoping they will start. I really really really want their business to be succesful because I love having them in my little town.

It's called a bias tape maker. It came in 1/2" and 1". I got the 1" to start because I figured the thinner might be a little more difficult to cut.
