Ok.. here goes my posting of my FIRST piece of clothing EVER made... I've been dabbling with applique, and then decided to try a skirt... and I'm sooothat it actually LOOKS like a skirt, you don't even know!
![]()
I let my daughter (who is three) pick out the fabric, and I thought it wouldn't really matter since the chance was small that it would end up looking like a skirt.... now I wish I'd picked some different fabric to showcase my incredible skill (haha not really)
I still plan to applique around the mickey head (i was thinking in green so you could see it, but I have no green thread)...
Oh and I think I sewed the entire skirt with embroidery thread (weight 41?) so it will probably unravel while she is wearing it... but I'm still so tootin' excited!
Its times like these that I wish my mom was still with us. She was so creative and could sew almost anything...
Anywoo... enough of my babbles and on to the unveiling! (lol)![]()
It's super cool! It is made by Clover. You cut the fabric and insert it into the tool and it basically just folds it over. You iron it as you pull it through and it turns into bias tape! I haven't used it yet, but I am really hoping it works. I got mine at a quilt shop for $7.50. It's probably less than that if it available at JoAnn or Hancock or someplace like that. I would look in the quilting area. If you really can't find it anyplace you can contact the ladies at my quilt shop and I bet they would sell it to you and mail it. They aren't selling on-line yet, but I am kinda hoping they will start. I really really really want their business to be succesful because I love having them in my little town.

It's called a bias tape maker. It came in 1/2" and 1". I got the 1" to start because I figured the thinner might be a little more difficult to cut.
I just checked out your quilt shop online and discovered that you are just down 69 hwy from me. We went to the Pumpkin Patch there last year with our Brownie Troop.
I'm sure your shop has some great stuff. My mom and I may check it out, she'll drive anywhere for a quilt shop.
There are a couple of great ones here in Old OP and Lenexa if you're ever North and want to check them out let me know and I'll give you directions.
I love MODA fabrics but when you get use to just spending $4-5/yd it's hard to dish out the money for those.
Do you go to Harpers in old Overland Park? I haven't been there in a while because I have really been trying to give these ladies my business. It is really fun to have a little shop in our small town! We don't get much like that around here!
What a small world!
I saw some there, but they want over $10/yard plus shipping. I was hoping to get it for less.
Yes, I love Harper's and there is one called Prairie Pointe in Lenexa. They are both great and very helpful.
OT - I could post this on the restraunts board, but I figured I'd get a quicker reply here! Is the Hoop dee doo review 2 disneydining credits? TIA my adr date is coming up. This seems like something Large group can do.

I hope you didn't buy it from ebay. Walmart has it for around 3-4 dollars a yard...![]()
I haven't been to Prairie Pointe. I'll have to check that out after the girls start back to school!
If either you or your mom are into knitting, you will love Needle Nest. I took my serger into MO sewing Machine Company to get it fixed and the lady there saw my address and went on and on about the cool knitting stuff they have. I don't knit, so I don't know what from what, but it looks like cool stuff!
If you guys make it into town, take your mom to Miss B's Cafe. It's a total dive, but the food is wonderful.

They are not affiliated. Hancocks is the online version of the store with locations in many cities. They mostly cater to hobby sewers and the carry fabrics that vary in price and quality. Hancock's of Paducah (aka HOP) does have one location, in Paducah KY. Check their website for address and directions. I'd so love to go there in person but that's unlikely to happen. I just love looking through their catalog (sign up or call for a free one!!!). They mostly cater to serious quilters (not including the home decor fabric and things). The fabric quality is generally VERY good... and the prices often reflect that. I love to shop through their discount prints because I can sometimes get wonderful prints for 50% or more off the price I'd pay elsewhere.
For anyone else who has a major fabric shopping addiction, if you haven't tried quiltshops.com, I highly recommend it. It's a search engine that will look through the online stock of 190+ quilt shops. You can search by color, general style, designer, etc. Like HOP, though, the stores mostly carry quilt shop quality fabric which means they are higher priced. I really like being able to check prices at multiple stores to find the best one because it can vary a few dollars per yard. They don't seem to have much licensed character prints, though, and what they do have is overpriced IMO.
OK, more information that you asked for but hopefully it will help someone.![]()
DD decided to be a pirate for halloween today. (YEA!! Tutu twirl & corset!!!) I said little brother could be a pirate too. She said "NAH, he's going to be my parrot!" I thought that was a great idea! So DS (he'll be almost 2) is going to be a parrot - with feathers and all!!
Here are pics of outfits I bought from ebay and my very first sewing project.

I bought this one a few months ago from ebay. This outfit is so cute, it had bows on top of the shirt and on the pants, but dd being the style diva she is, wanted them off.

I bought this from ebay while dd was in Ohio with the grandparents. It is too big on her, but so cute.
And last, but not least. My first outfit for dd and WDW.

It is too big on her, but she has growing room, just in case she hits a growth spurt before MNSSHP.

Yes, it is 2 dining credits. As is the Backyard BBQ and CRT. We thought about doing it but the girls wanted to eat IN THE CASTLE not just in a restaurant like last time. Oh well, they're only young once.
I know that it was 2 credits this time last year.
