lori - I hope you're caught up! or that you'll at least see this. I love your outfits. did you make them?

aimee - everytime someone reposts your nemo dress, I fall more in love with it! It is so sweet!

Thanks so much. It is DH's favorite too. I cannot take real credit for it. Someone did a pillowcase dress for their little one. It is on the photo link. That is how I got the inspiration. I am going to do the pillowcase for my baby also.

I absolutely LOVE all the dresses and custom clothes. I wish I had the time to do some sewing for myself and kids. Of course by the time I get to it the kids will be too old. LOL!

I must say though, that spending 8 days in WDW and going to every park, not wasting a minute of WDW time, not once did I see anyone in a custom outfit.
Also, strangely we only saw a handful of girls in princesses dresses.

Do you let your kids where their custome clothes to school, parties, etc after your trips?

I did not notice the custom outfits although I was not looking for them.

Princess dresses! DD wore them all week. 105 degrees and she still wore them. Only complained once.

We came with-

Alice
Cinderella- airplane
Cinderella- CRT
Sleeping Beauty
Tinker Bell

We bought- (10% off at the World of Disney w/ aaa)

Belle
Jasmine
Ariel
Minnie Mouse- Only because the heat was unbearable in Sleeping Beauty and she had two accidents in her play clothes.

The only one we did not bring was Snow White. Our next trip I am letting her get Snow White for the BBB.

DH looked at the credit card bill online. :scared: Let's just say, it is either the credit card/ebay or my marriage. He was not happy with the charges from paypal. I had to cut up my credit card and take it off of paypal. Guess I have to purchase items from ebay on paydays and use my debit card. UGH! He is the party pooper. Doesn't he know my money if for other stuff, and the credit card is for ebay? lol. Anyway, I have to stop my purchasing for a few weeks. :sad1:

I'd be in mourning if I had to cut up my cards. Actually, the sick thing is, I'd have to cancel them, cause I know all my numbers, expirations dates and security codes by heart. I totally understand your DH having a fit...BTDT. That is why I took over doing the bills about ten years ago...I don't have to hear the gasps, sighs and outright fits! DH does get a little bit upset when UPS or FED EX comes nearly every day though. :rotfl:

DD decided to be a pirate for halloween today. (YEA!! Tutu twirl & corset!!!) I said little brother could be a pirate too. She said "NAH, he's going to be my parrot!" I thought that was a great idea! So DS (he'll be almost 2) is going to be a parrot - with feathers and all!!

OK, I'm going to attempt to make some korker bows. Has anyone curles their own ribbon? I found some good instructions...they give you the choice of using starch or wetting them and baking them in the oven. Any suggestions on which method to use? :confused3

Thanks!

I also wrap mine around dowels - secure the ends with mini clips - and I spray a product called "stiffen stuff" on the ribbon before putting them in the oven. This helps them keep a tight curl.

Ack, I deleted my subscription to the thread! Great work everyone! My DH and I was going to do the pirate thing with our DD as a parrot too. Time got away from us, she was a ladybug instead!

Ok - I am heading to Joann - I made it to page 115! Wish me luck - I am taking both the kiddos - they hate going to Joann because I take "so long" LOL!

Here are pics of outfits I bought from ebay and my very first sewing project.

IMG_0150.jpg

I bought this one a few months ago from ebay. This outfit is so cute, it had bows on top of the shirt and on the pants, but dd being the style diva she is, wanted them off.

I bought this from ebay while dd was in Ohio with the grandparents. It is too big on her, but so cute.

And last, but not least. My first outfit for dd and WDW.

It is too big on her, but she has growing room, just in case she hits a growth spurt before MNSSHP.

I just got back from the Disney Outlet (15% off coupon, baby!) and they have this new ting to make your own custom jeans. The have cute ltitle jeans (some were glittery, some had crowns on the pocket) and you could buy a packet on appliques to iron-on the jeans for $6.50. They had princesses, Tink, Cars, Ariel & her sisters and few more I can't remember.
Just wanted to let anyone know who might be looking for a easy project. :)

I have been reading this thread for a few weeks and I only felt the need to respond when i saw your post. Your post brought back so many fond memories of her when she was little:flower3: Several years ago I made my dd a parrot costume for Mardi Gras - she was 3 or 4. I made full feather wings with a feather headress and beak. I can't post pictures of it though, I haven't posted enough yet:sad2:

My youngest was the "pet companion" for a couple of years too!

1st Halloween - Riley=Little Bo Peep / Drew=sheep
2nd - Riley=Barbie Swan Lake / Drew=Barbie's unicorn friend

the next year we went to Disney and the girls both wore their Princess costumes for Halloween, but Riley was really upset with me that I wouldn't let her be Dorothy and make Drew be toto! By the time Drew was almost 4 Riley had lost her authority and had to make do with stuffed animals for pets.

Say it isn't sooooo!

2CuteKids- (heyyyy it didn't quote you!)...My DN(ephew) was a Robin Hood and his little baby brother was a "Bag of LOOT!" And the next year, he was a pirate and his little brother was a treasure chest! It was spectacular!

I cant wait to see the parrot!

I haven't posted much on here even though I'm addicted to this thread because well, I have no sewing machine! But I've been reading and keeping ideas for when I take the plunge and get a machine. Anyway, until then I'm buying my customs for our WDW trip (only 4 more weeks ). I wanted to share pictures of my girls in two outfits I've recently bought thanks to 2 very talented ladies on here. If you want info on who made them, feel free to PM me.

Minnie Twirl skirts. I bought black shirts and I'm going to decorate it with rhinestones in the shape of Minnie.

And of course, showing off the twirl:

Now to figure out what to wear for Animal Kingdom and Epcot!

So, I just got back from my quilt shop and I am now $36 poorer! I don't even want to add up all of the $30 JoAnn, $25 wal-mart, $50 Hancock, etc. trips I have made lately!

I got some of the sock monkey fabric to make my dd5 a back to school set and I also got a handy little tool! It is a bias tape maker. I can't wait to use it. There are a couple of outfits that I have wanted to make, but I wanted to be able to use a coordinating fabric instead of the packaged bias tape.

What is a bias tape maker? I have been cutting and ironing strips of fabric to use instead of bias tape. This tool would eliminate that? How? I need more details please!

Ok.. here goes my posting of my FIRST piece of clothing EVER made... I've been dabbling with applique, and then decided to try a skirt... and I'm sooo :yay: that it actually LOOKS like a skirt, you don't even know! :cool1:

I let my daughter (who is three) pick out the fabric, and I thought it wouldn't really matter since the chance was small that it would end up looking like a skirt.... now I wish I'd picked some different fabric to showcase my incredible skill (haha not really) :)

I still plan to applique around the mickey head (i was thinking in green so you could see it, but I have no green thread)...

Oh and I think I sewed the entire skirt with embroidery thread (weight 41?) so it will probably unravel while she is wearing it... but I'm still so tootin' excited!

Its times like these that I wish my mom was still with us. She was so creative and could sew almost anything...

Anywoo... enough of my babbles and on to the unveiling! (lol) :rotfl:

Riley (that's my dog's name) - I love it! I love the colors your daughter picked out. It's very cute!

I just got back in from taking an Applique Class!!! I no longer fear the applique or the different stitches on my machine!!! They even tought me how to use my ruffler foot!!! YEA!!! :cheer2:

Now if I can find the time to get some projects done. Darn it, real work keeps getting in the way! Darn clients! ;) Maybe DH can take the little one out this weekend leaving me to sew alone at home. Of course, he'll probably prefer me do to the laundry or clean the house or something NOT fun like that.
