If I may add to this, one of the specially made pillowcases might be really nice. It's not clothes, but you will have made it just for him. Perhaps some quick iron on for a t-shirt. WallyWorld has some embroidery patches you could E6000 glue on.

My boys don't want me to sew anyhting for them, but they do like special touches on t-shirts that I have planned just for them.

Oh! What if you worked with a Disigner on some iron-ons that are customized? That would be fun.

I second the pillowcase idea. A friend made one for my DS with Cars fabric and embroidered his name on it. I knew I was going to be in the hospital for awhile when having my DD (scheduled c-section) so I gave it to him while he was staying away with his grandparents. He LOVED it and almost a year later is still sleeping with it on his pillow. It also made the trip to WDW with us in Feb.

ok, i will try and get this right.

this is my daughter Ashlia she will be 3 next month and loves strawberry shortcake. i made her the twirl skirt and brought a plain white singlet from target from the clearance bin for $2 i embroided the face onto the singlet and handsewed on the red ribbon on her hat. i also added the green ribbon bow and the little strawberry button.

please excuse her hair, she just hoped out of the bath and wanted to put the outfit on straight away.

i have also made some simple dresses, i will post them later ,

The outfit and your DD are beautiful!! Did you completely applique Strawberry Shortcake yourself? It looks so perfect! Great job!

teresajoy- yes we have target over here. we also have kmart, toys'r'us etc. we also have a mini version of wal mart called 'big w' ( but they use the same signs in the store eg the rollback sign with the smilie face) we have all the same fast place places as you guys too but 'burger king' is called 'hungry jacks' in some states over here.

Dreamer & Wisher- i would love to go to disney world in florida but with 4 children aged 8, 6, 3 and 10 months it just seems so far away ( approx 13 hours from here to LA and then another approx 6 hours from LA to FL). i would be satisfied if we just made it to disneyland in the near future. maybe we could head to florida when the babies are much older.

bengalbelle- with the head of strawberry i embroided it on my sewing machine onto a piece of tan fabric which is her face. so the hat, hair , eyes, nose, mouth and freckles are stitched by my machine. i then cut the tan fabric around the whole head and hat and used a satin stitch to apply it to the plain singlet with that fusing stuff ironed between the two ( i could of possibly just stitched the picture straight onto the singlet but i was affraid that it may be too heavy on the stretch fabric and the singlet may fall out of shape.)

my dd6 just got home from school so i will take some photos of her in the dress i made and post them soon

ok, here it goes! Anyone have any questions reguarding outfits, let me know - designers etc (mostly made by me)
Have matching jewelry for everything, but will post everything by the end of the week! I have amazing perfect shots of each outfit from my photopass, but waiting for that to come in the mail! Most of my sons ouftis did not not get pictures.. hmm sad about that. but maybe I will take some pics of those.

I have a DD who is almost 6 and I have made 5 disney dresses for her this week and NOTHING for DS10 and DS7. They would not wear camp shirts much less overalls. So I bought each of them 3 white t-shirts. We are going to tie dye them and then I am going to applique plain black mickey face outlines on them. My boys said "cool" to that.

That is a good idea. I guess my brain is just stuck in sewing and fabric mode. I think my older DS would enjoy the tie dye shirts. Yet another excuse for me to head back out to the craft store!

Does anyone have a problem with sons feels ignored? My son said today that he never gets any attention because I am always making stuff with my daughter. I am going to spend more one-on-one time with him, but does anyone have any suggestions?

I was feeling that way for my 3 boys, since I kept picking out patterns & fabric with my DD. That I decided to take all 3 boys with me to go pick out fabric & patterns. They aren't Disney but at least it was something. It was a good thing I did. My 10 year old picked out money fabric to make him a pair of shorts & shirt with. I would have never in a million years picked out that fabric. He also picked out camoflauge. So, I made him a pair of shorts in both those fabrics. I don't really care for the money ones because it looks like he's wearing boxer shorts even though they are regular shorts with a pocket. It's just the material makes me think that. He loves them though. My 7 year old wanted Pokemon fabric which was just not available in the stores (at least around here -- I could find fleece but that isn't good for shorts). I got some off e-bay, so now I have to make him his shorts. I had already made the 3 year old shorts from Thomas material.

My other thing I want to do is make at least the little guy a Prince Charming outfit. I got a pattern that is very similar (although could someone tell me why some people use blue for the top instead of white? Doesn't Prince Charming wear white in the parks?), then I'm going to make a pair of shorts that look like the pants. That's on my eventually agenda. I don't think the 10 & 7 year old would wear an outfit like that though. Except the pattern I bought happen to also be one that can be used for 3 musketeers & DS-10 saw the tunic thing and went "THAT'S COOL. I want that!" -- so I'll probably make him that just for fun.

I can't really answer your question well since I only have one and he is a boy, but he loves to go and pick out fabric. Today he wanted transformers, which I just didn't know what to do with. He wanted penguins the other day, so I went ahead and got 1/2 a yard, maybe a bag or something. But maybe let him pick some out one time and make a pair of shorts, or mickey head on tshirt. How old is he? Mine is only 4 1/2 so he is pretty pleasable. And he loves to watch me sew. I usually tell him to get lost and feel bad! I just cannot sew with him over my shoulder! Okay, get lost was a bad phrase, but you get the point.

So far I've made two outfits for my baby girl and I have two more in the works. I really wanted to make somthing for DS5 and DS5 so they wouldn't feel left out of all the fun. I thought maybe some cute camp shirts like the ones I've seen posted here recently so I tried fabric shopping with my five-year-old boys. They passed up Lightening McQueen, Mickey, Nemo...everything remotely boy-oriented and went straight for the Tinkerbell fabric : They're **obsessed** with Peter Pan, but there's no where on earth to buy fabric with Peter Pan on it--I've looked high and low!! So I headed over to the Disign boards where a really nice lady named Maria helped me out immensly by creating some of the best Peter Pan graphics I've ever seen just for my boys. The graphics are perfect!! Not too busy and just right for my little boys.

You won't be disappointed with DisneyLand when you go. I hope I don't gain any enemies here, but I actually *cough* prefer *cough* the Magic Kingdom at Disneyland than at DW. In fact, I've learned that DisneyLand has *quite* a large following for this very reason. I was glad to learn I wasn't alone. It is however, *very* fun to be able to visit the Magic Kingdom, MGM, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and the Water Parks all in one trip at the World.

I just bought shirts to put them on a day or two ago. I'll post them as soon as I finish the shirts. I'm not sure if the Disigner wants me to post the actual graphics here, so I won't take the chance. Once I get the pictures up, I'll gladly point you in her direction. She does absolutely wonderful work and she's such a truly nice person!

I have bbg triplets who are 7, but my DD would love the older girl designs and I want to learn to make those pillowcases! Who made the really cute ones a few pages back? Are there directions anywhere?

I think this would be perfect for a creative outlet. I have a sewing machine in my basement, but I haven't sewn in 25 years, so I wouldn't even remember how to thread a bobbin. I will need lots of basic instructions. Anywhere in particular to start? And, Dawn, why didn't you tell me about this?

Do you have the manual for your sewing machine? I would start there and try an easy pattern from Simplicity, Mccallls, etc.

Thanks. No, I don't think I have it. It's my MIL old machine... I don't even know if it works! But I should try it before I go buying a new fancy one with embroidery, etc. DH is going to die if he sees me here.

Don't worry, I'm sure you can get a copy of your manual online. Just google "sewing machine manuals" and there's a bunch of places that pride themselves in having *every* sewing machine manual available to download for a small fee. You'll definatley want this since every machine is different and you'll need to know what yours is capable of. You'll also want to know how to oil your machine, change the needles etc. This will all need to be done before you get started.

Hello All - You have all been such an inspiration to me. I used to sew and have just returned from a Disney trip. Unfortunately I found this thread about 10 days before we left for Disney so all I could churn out were some matching t-shirts.

I do have a friend who is going to Disney and I asked to make her an outfit. Her 7 year old daughter is an Ariel fanatic of the highest degree. I simply bought a basic outfit in her size and added to it. I have to say I have not appliqued before and need lots of practice.

Unfortunately in my area we are definately lacking in stores...and a fabric store is out of the question. I called 9 stores including Jo Ann's Fabrics (45 min away) to see about getting what I needed. Course no one had what I wanted and I didn't want to bother DH with ordering off of Ebay. So I went on an all-out search Monday to find what I needed. I got a cute purple outfit in her size from KMart that had the colors I liked. Then I found a tank top with the most beautiful Ariel applique on it. I bought it too. Then I drove an hour to the fabric store and looked around. Then I went to the mall and the Disney store. Here's where I struck gold. They actually have iron on appliques and they had Ariel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited. I went back to the fabric store and found some green striped fabric that sort of resembled sea weed. I snagged some sea shell shaped buttons and some ribbon and I was all set!!!!

So that evening and all day Tuesday I assembled my Ariel masterpiece. The only problem was that I had never appliqued before. It isnt too hard but does take practice...by the third letter I was getting the hang of it I tried my best. I would really have to master appliqueing before I actually would sell something but I think it will make a nice gift for our little friend.

Oh and I forgot to say that I also picked up some beads and Ariel stuff for decorating flip flops. I made them into a matching bracelet and necklace. I also used left over ribbon to make a hair bow:

And there you have it folks! Next time we go to Disney, I will be making outfits for us! Or at least altering already existing outfits for Disney. I wish I could do this full time...I love it. That and scrapbooking when I am not out horseback riding or Dissing
