I am wondering if what you think is missing from the skirt is a ruffle at the end of the blue skirt. Maybe use that pre-made ruffle someone mentioned from Hobby Lobby. It would be easier to attach since it is already gathered. Just an idea.

Personally I love the whole outfit! You made a 3-piece! You are so ebay.:yay:

I'm not sure what's missing. :confused3 I guess it just looks so plain compared to the Minnie version.

LadyRob, your daughter is so cute! She reminds me of a little princess :)

Princess? Huh, maybe once she's past the terrible twos. Right now, this is more her style. :rotfl:

Would you believe *I* would be the person to have a sewing machine that has 50 stitches on it?!?:lmao:

I got it on clearance at Target a little over 2 years ago. The ladies teaching me to quilt were so impressed and I had no idea why.:rolleyes1

Of course we would all believe it, you buy the best of everything! :thumbsup2 Now if you can just figure out how to use it....

Okay... the machine has been taken out of the closet. I lost the manual so my son is printing it from the Brother site. I will go to the fabric store tomorrow and see what I can find.

Wish me luck!:scared:

I finally have something girly to add. lol

I made this for our friend's little girl. She just turned 2 and she is going to WDW in Sept. too.

I made it too narrow so I added the lacey inset on the back, I hope it will work for her.

Thanks, I use a middle of the road Kenmore from Sears.

I promised DH in the past that I would not post pics of Destiny on the internet but he has agreed to let me post here. So here she is!

Destiny is the cutest ever-she's a princess!!! The outfit is even more precious now that she's wearing it.
I want to start applique but doing the faces is scary. Thanks for the tip about the pillowcase.

LadyRob,
I have been lurking here for months and this Snow White outfit is so incredible, I can't stand it!!! I have no sewing skills, but my mom does and she is going to try to make some outfits for DD5...

If you don't mind a dumb question... how do you make that applique? Is it all stitched? Is it cut out of other fabric and sewn on? Is is painted? I can't tell...

You are amazing!!!

Amy

PS If anyone has a link to a way to buy some of these clothes.... PLEASE PM me!!!!!!

You all are some talented women! You inspire me want to try to thread my sewing machine all by myself!!! (Baby steps!)

I'm glad you like the set. If you are referring to the snow white applique, I didn't make that. Wish I could but it is a pillow panel ironed on with Heatn'Bond lite. I did stitch around and throughout the panel to give it an appliqued effect.

Love the Snow white set..I cant belive thats a pillowcase panel..I may have to try that idea !!:goodvibes

Lady Rob that set is beautiful!!!! You're daughter is stunning in it!. Great work!

I ahve got to take a ride to Joann's to look for some fabric - so many cool things!

You all are enablers!!!!

I have not sewn anything in over 20 yrs and even then it was an easy 4-H project. But after seeing all of these wonderful outfits you have made me want to try my hand at it again. My mom just bought me an easy sundress pattern so I plan on having her help me make it. I laughed because it is supposed to be one of those 1 hour dresses that will probably take me 1 week! :rotfl:

I must be an idiot.

First, I know that a lot of people may need to actually see what I'm talking about rather than just reading about it. But I really hope that someone can help me.

I was trying to make a pair of shorts. The pattern told me to fold the fabric in half with the selvages together. Piece 13 is the back, and they told me to lay in on the fold so that the crotch is pointing away from the fold.

The pattern then told me to lay piece 12, which is the front, along the selvage with the crotch pointing away from the selvage.

So, I have 1 big piece with 2 "J" on either side, and 2 smaller pieces, also forming a "J". With me?!?

The only way I could figure out how to attach them is to actually make the "back" piece one of the side pieces!!! But that piece is actually bigger than the other 2 pieces, because it is for the backside!!! I ended up cutting one of the legs because it was so much bigger than the other.

AGH!!!

I'm ready to cry, this is frustrating, I don't know anyone who knows how to sew to show me. But most of all, I just bought lots and lots of fabric and misc. stuff, which I guess I better just return, because it was actually quite a bit of money - what a waste of time! I am SO disapointed!! :sad1:

sent you a pm

LadyRob, Please PM me as well with your applique instructions too. I've got an Alice outfit in the works and I'm afraid there'll be no pillow panels to help me with this one:rolleyes1 .

I'm so glad to see you're feeling better Elise. I apologize for getting all excited over the hullabaloo of yesterday. I was just so upset because I've heard of so many situations where the more established sellers on eBay intentionally gain up on promising newbies to push them out of business before things really take off for them. When you described your situation, it sounded like this was what was happening to you. :grouphug:

Don't give up! I don't understand what you're describing so, I can't help you but I want to encourage you to keep trying. Don't fear the fabric! Any new skill takes practice to learn and you will eventually get the hang of it.

~I love all the newest outfits... super cute! Good job, ladies!:cheer2:

Everyday, I'm feeling better and better. I almost feel like the dancing banana...:rotfl:
Have you noticed that the tag fairy doesn't come to visit us on the sewing board?:confused3 What gives?
This should be my tag....Would cruise naked if I had to...:rotfl:
Or how about " Eats dry cereal out of a coffee mug" :rotfl:
"Drinks Dr. Pepper for breakfast"
See, there is lots to know about a girl...LOL

You all are enablers!!!!

I have not sewn anything in over 20 yrs and even then it was an easy 4-H project. But after seeing all of these wonderful outfits you have made me want to try my hand at it again.

You can do it! Prior to this thread, my most recent sewing project was also a 4-H project at least 15 years ago! So far I've made a pillowcase dress, several pairs of pajama pants and a patchwork twirly skirt (I'm quite proud of that one). If I can do it, you can too!

I'm still trying to decide on my next project. I'm thinking it has to be something for DS -- gotta keep 'em "even" you know. ;)

I just wanted to let everyone know that Childrens Place has the sparkle denim jeans on sale for $2.99! I was shocked when I checked out tonight, the tag said $7.99 but they rang up only $2.99

Ok, not sure if I'll be any help or not, but I'll give it a shot - whenever I've made shorts or pants, I believe almost every pattern I've used calls for 4 pieces - 2 back pieces and 2 front pieces, all cut from the two pattern pieces. Usually, if you read the acutal pattern piece, it will say, for example "BACK - cut 2 of fabric" or something similar. Generally when they want you to place on the fold, it will say "Cut one on fold."

It sounds like maybe you need to cut that back piece in half along the non-crotch side? I'm pretty visual, so I'm not exactly sure. Hope I helped a little. Good luck - don't give up! You'll get the hang of it!

"Drinks Dr. Pepper for breakfast"
See, there is lots to know about a girl...LOL

Is a coffee mug *not* an acceptable vessel for cereal?! :confused3 :lmao:
I was with you until Dr. Pepper for breakfast -- ick. I'm ont a fan. ETA: Just a minute... maybe the only one I'm "with you on" is the coffee mug. LOL! I just noticed the cruise naked part. No thanks (you can all thank me too, because believe me, you don't wanna see too much of this! LOL!)

Of course, mine could be "if you've been up for an hour, it's time for lunch." I'm not a big fan of breakfast foods in general. (Someone remind me why we always go to character breakfasts instead of lunches/dinners?!)

How about "went crazy with the seam ripper."
