You cheater...LOL. I was like, wow, she totally did a great job, and I couldn't imagine how you got her done so perfectly. Especially the face.
I love it though, and I may have to borrrow:rolleyes1 your idea.
I have some little mermaid laying around here somewhere.

 There is now way in @#$% that I could do a face. I've tried and they look so distorted. Those pillow panels are my bestfriend. How do you get the features in proportion? Also, do you somehow trace the face onto the applique and stitch or is it all free-hand?

Someone was saying earlier that they were looking for tigger striped fabric... Well I know it's not striped, but I bet it would work perfect with stripes, and it is too cute!

Hi girls....I just saw, after reading some of the past posts, that I don't compliment other people's outfits. I'm sorry. I love everything that everyone posts, and I'm so glad that some folks are pulling out the old sewing machine, because they're inspired to begin sewing again. Anyway, if I'm tight fisted on the compliments, I'm sorry. I really do admire everyone's work.
Well with that being said, can I also tell you about my day...LOL.
I'm ready to kill my daughter, Well, not kill, exactly, just maybe beat her with a big spatula....:rotfl:
When I measured her waist today, she decided to stick out her stomach, and me...not paying attention, didn't notice. So needless to say, her pants, are too big in the waist and they are already finished off. She really ticks me off sometimes. I took pictures of her in the outfit, but I was ready to knock her in the head with the camera...:rotfl:
She wanted me to tell you that she designed the outfit, picked out the colors and the ribbon and chose what pattern she wanted me to use. She didn't want a girly outfit for sea world, so this is it..It's a little plain for my taste, but this is what she wanted.

She helped me make the loopy bow. In the photo, it's actually two just put near each other..it looked a little skimpy.

CastleCreations!

Your daughter looks great! I love the outfit!!!! The bow makes the outfit!

It's adorable!!!!

Castle, do you use a thicker fabric for white pants so panties don't show? Just wondered. I have been using pique that I found at Hancock's. It's very cheap and that made it thicker...actually a good thing here. Bonnie is complaining that it is too stiff and won't wear it now.

What do you all do?

Thanks for the compliment! This has definitely been the hardest thing I've done so far. I will never use shimmering fabrics again, or do a hem on that kind of curve again. It took me hours just to do the hem. And an entire day just for the purple bodice. That flimsy fabric would never stay folded after I pressed it. I actually melted a piece of it once! Then I had to rip that part out and do it again. Oh, well live and learn

Next time use some spray starch. You can apply it a few times until the fabric is stiff enough to work with and then when you are finished making it, wash it all out! I love the stuff. It is $1 for a can. I like to make the fabric feel like paper so I can be really precise.

I actually use the white cotton they sell at Walmart, for the appliqued halters I use a heavier weight, The lighter cotton seems to clean up well with my tide pen, and bleach pen. LOL. I make them wear white undies underneath. My daughter had on yellow and pink spongebob one's and I couldn't see them.
I think the white fabric at Walmart is around 3.00 a yard. It has a slight print to it and I like it. I have about 20 yards of it...LOL

I would like to make a Tigger outfit for my DS1, but can't find any orange and black striped fabric. I've looked all over in my town and at Hancock's online with no luck. Any ideas? I really just want half a yard for shorts.

I would start watching the Halloween fabric displays. I bet there will be some orange and black stripes there.

Now why didn't I think of that!?! That would have made life so much easier. Do I even bother telling you the next dilema of that outfit? Here I go anyway....

Okay, she only had it on like 3 minutes! There was a stain on the bodice on the panel next to princess panel. Oh, no, I better go try and rinse that right away pronto. Nothing has taken it out so far. Mind you I was gently rubbing it, and a small hole began to form at the seam, not to bad though. I left it only to dry. I was going to go get some fray check, and dab from the inside. Even though it was wet my daughter decides to put it on her doll. Now we have a BIG RIP. So I had to take off most the lining, and remove that entire side piece. Fortunately I have one scrap left that's big enough. I'm going to try to piece it on with out having to completely tear it apart. Wish me luck.

I found this black and orange stripe last year right before Halloween. I used it for DDs Halloween skirt. Hancocks usually has a good selection of Halloween fabric - I bet they start coming out with it soon. I have about an 11"x45" piece left if that would help you at all. I'd be glad to send it to you....not sure if its what you're looking for though. It's just a small black and orange stripe, not really a "Tigger" stripe.

Can see it here in the skirt...sorry about the wrinkles - it's been in a box.

I absolutely love this!!! I had this fabric in my hand at Wal-mart, and carried it around for about an hour, and then put it back because I couldn't figure out what to do with it or find anything to match it. The white looks great, and I love the cuffs!! I think I'm running back to Wal-mart now!

I had to really think about getting this one too, it was a little dark. But it was the only fish fabric, with realy looking fish, that I could find in the sea world colors.
I plan on making my youngest daughter a lightweight dress or skirt and tee with this. Maybe a pair of shorts and an apron top. LOL.. too many ideas, not enough time in the world...

That Skirt is really cute! My DD won't wear skirts or I would make one with the Mickey Fabric!

This is adorable! I love the little bows on the shoulders and the rick rack on the capri pants.

This one is one of my new favs. I call the purple princess. I went crazy with the bling! I added crystals all over the patterned fabric. I also learned it is possible to put too much poof in the ruffles. :lmao: I had to put a rubberband around them to try and get them to lay down.:rotfl:

Oh this looks cute. I just bought this pattern to. I'm going to make it with princess material. Where they are really large.

You guys have been busy! Wish I could say I have been :sad2: I do have my pile of stuff out to start, and I did buy some Minnie dot print off the hancock site last night....

I LOVE everyones outfits! They all look so great! I think it's so wonderful that we all share our creations :goodvibes I have never seen either of those princess/flower prints before, can I ask where you got them from?? Happy creating everyone! :goodvibes jen

OH, one more thing... Has anyone seen that fabric that is blue with see thru stars on it. I am trying to find it, with no luck :( I seen it first on Ebay, in an outfit... I am pretty sure most of us seen it. TIA

Jen, your red white and blue outfits are adorable! I love the ruffles on your daughter's outfits.

I got the princess Flower prints at Joann's. For some reason they didn't have both the fabrics out on the shelf at the same time. So I bought them seperately. I bought the purple stuff back in May. And the blue stuff just yesterday. I am hoping I have enough to make my niece an apron top and capri's out of it. She is going to Disneyland in October.

Our Joann's had a large display of tulle type fabrics with sparkles and prints on them. THey may have had blue with stars too. I looked at it trying to find some of the Mickey head see through stuff. But they didn't have any of that.

Gorgeous as usual!!

CastleCreations-
Maybe your daughter is going to follow in your footsteps, designing boutique outfits!:thumbsup2

Jajone- why not make a pair of black shorts with the bottom 3" as a stripe that goes around the leg- or how about making a pair of orange shorts with black stripes running down the outside of each leg? It wouldn't be hard to do either of those things and you could use solid color fabrics.

Here's my first attempt at ruffled jeans. I have to say they were pretty easy! I'm thinking about actually turning this into a Donald Duck outfit. When I was kid I remember the song M-I-C-K-E-Y- M-O-U-S-E, and Donald would butt in with his name. All the faint mickeys just reminded me of that, plus it's the right colors for him!

Now she can twirl a top! Just can't seem to get lift off with the skirts yet!
July2007008.jpg

Here's a close up of the fabric. I got it at joanns. It would for great for boys shirt or accent for a man's shirt for those of you looking for boy stuff.
