A friend of mine showed me a website today that sells ribbon by the yard and now I can't remember it, and it's too late to call her. It was www . ribbon ?? . com. I've searched Google and can't find it. Anyone have a site they use & would recommend?

Also, I make pillowcase dresses/tops using the elastic and bias binding. Can someone tell me where to find the casing/ribbon instructions?

oh designing question. so I made the bodice top for a stripwork jumper in red and white mickey dots and then used black for the shoulder straps and I am STUCK!!!

Want to make something great. this is going to be a short one so I can make some little capri's with a mickey head appliqued on.
had the animal prints layed out and thought,,,, no! Then thought of doing the yellow, black ,white and red minnie dot combo. then doing white capri's with minnie dot ruffle. is that tooo plain. hmmm help wiht some design ideas.
been staring at this for an hour now!

lori

Do you mean solid yellow, solid black and solid white? If you mean dots on all of them, I think that would be super cute! But, I'm just a beginner so don't put too much stock into what I suggest!! Hold out for a more expert opinion.

I think I missed the pic of your other Mickey outfit, but I think this turned out really cute. Yay!!! My idea got used! :)

I am sorry to hear about how hard it was though. My DS really wants a "camp shirt"... I'm worried it's outside my skill level though.

I'm a basic sewer too and want to try a cars camp shirt. Wish me luck and I am looking for any hints to make it easier.

Not Disney, but wanted to get the twirly skirt method down before I started anything special. DD found this material at WM on clearance for $1/yd and she had to have it because it reminded her of Jasmine. So here's the skirt and halter that I made for her to wear this weekend to dh's family reunion.

I think I'm ready to tackle the Disney skirts now!!! Can't decide what to do, I have so many ideas thanks to all of you!
Great job! This is really pretty

What do you all think of this dress? Too traditional?

I love it! Is there decoration around the dots too?

then the minnie dot fabric.

or I do have the black with white dots.. hmmmmmm

I am so confused, maybe I should put a fresh eye to it in the morning

my spelling is getting bad maybe I am tired!

You guys are SUCH enablers! <sigh> :lmao: I've booted DS's toys out of the playroom/computer room and am bringing up my sewing machine and serger from the basement so I have a decent place to sew. I have DS's shirt cut out and ready to go - will post it when it's done.

For now...

Here's my first outfit. Just did iron on appliques for it - I'm not ready to attack stitching them on yet. (used a strong fusible webbing that says to NOT sew it) It's put away until our trip in Sept though - don't want to risk it getting damaged. It was really time consuming to cut out the Mickeys and the letters.

:sad1: I guess nobody liked my little boy's Mickey outfit

Maybe this is better...

I got DS's shirt done - just need to buy buttons and do those blasted button holes. I have never done a collar before and I forgot just how blasted hard sleeves are! You gals who have girls to sew for have it easy! LOL

I love the way this turned out! I might have to make one like that for my son and hubby!
This is so not related to clothes, so don't mind me...
I am hooked on reborn dolls. I own one, but I let my girls play with it. But can you believe that this photo is of a doll? Unbelieveable....

WOW! That is unbelievable!

I'll let her know someone else thinks that, too. :thumbsup2 Actually she had a totally adorable pink polka dot headband in before the photos, but she took it off and would not put it back on, it just wasn't worth a fight!
I undersant how things are just not worth the argument sometimes! Lydia is like that! I blame the red hair!

So that's how you did that? You cut out the pics then used Heat n' Bond? I was going to ask if it was an iron-on... Great job!!

Yup -Put a fusible webbing on the fabrics - cut the Mickey's out of a strip of fabric (that was tricky since they were on a dark blue! Hard to see! Especially his tail.) and then I printed out MICKEY with a Mickey font, cut them out and laid them on top of the fabric (2 pieces for each letter to make the letter and the outline) and then ironed on the whole thing.

It was easier to cut the fabric with the fusible webbing already on it than to cut soft floppy fabric - it made it more solid (but not hard).

Is there a pattern for this style top? I've searched and searched with no luck. The only thing I found was instructions for a pillowcase halter top. Is that what this is? Please help!

I just took it one step at a time and read the directions about 20 times...LOL
Lots of pinning and un-pinning to get it laid right. But it all worked out in the end! Oh yeah - I used a lot of really big (basting) stitches to make sure I had it right (so it would be easy to remove if I messed up royally) and then I'd go over it with a fine stitch when I saw what I was doing was correct.
The sleeves were hard for me because I'm used to a little bit of puff/gather at sleeves for women, so it was tricky for me to get it laid in nice and smooth. (hence my comment about sewing for girls being a bit easier - most of the summer dresses don't have sleeves at all, and when the outfits do have sleeves they have gathers/puffy business going on that's a LOT easier to lay in place!)

If you're concerned about it, I'd suggest making one in some super cheap fabric first to work out the bugs.

Good luck to you both! Can't wait to see what you gals come up with!

Okay I am the one who was looking for an outfit to wear (well for daughter to wear) to the Army Navy football game in December! So I have bid on this of course. I want any pics that have been "borrowed" please!

I HAVE to have this for DD!!

Just in case you don't get this there's another new listing if you search custom boutique nautical.....It's really cute also not as perfect as the first but would definately suit the occasion. It's from a seller who also does alot of the really nice disney customs I've seen here.

Thanks, I am going to look right now!

Thank you!! I'm trying to branch out from pillowcase dresses/tops cuz we're going in December and I think it might be a tad chilly for halters the like! These look easy enough!

I'll be there in December, too (Dec 1-5) and I was thinking the same thing as you. I'm hoping for capris and short sleeves.

If you're concerned about it, I'd suggest making one in some super cheap fabric first to work out the bugs.

Thanks for the camp shirt tips, Robin. I bought some clearance Buzz Lightyear fabric at Hobby Lobby that I'm going to try it with.

NOTE TO SELF (and anybody else who's planning to try a patchwork skirt): If you want to do the time-saving "sew the fabric together in strips then cut it into panels of pre-sewn squares" method, don't choose a fabric with a one-way design. I did and I believe I'm going to have to cut it into squares first, then sew it together. If I sew it into strips first, my pattern will be running perpendicular to the floor, instead of parallel. Ugh. At least I figured it out before I sewed it all together.
