Are these by personalpizzazz? She's given me permission to share her ID. She did this set for my DD.

She did the bows too.

We just got back! My DDs wore adorable shirts -- one set made by "Castle Creations" from right here on DIS. The other set I found on eBay. We got SO much attention from cast members when they were wearing the shirts, and so many compliments and questions from people! I wish I'd bought MORE so they could have worn something "special" every day!

Here are the SAFARI shirts by Castle Creations:

Adiorable outfits and daughters! Avery and Reilly, I like those names. Do you pronounce Reilly with a long "a" sound, or is it long "I"? Cute names either way!
Ok Ladies~ before I get caught up I need your help!! But first I wanted to show you the shorts I made the other day and said I would post. Just a note, my daughter is wearing the short, but they are for her slightly bigger cousin.

I think If I would have made them four panels like all other shorts are they wouldn't have wings...lol

OK! Now here is my problem. Normally I can get an outfit made in a day. I am just not feeling this one, I think because I am making it for a friends DD. Anyway, I am at a lost what I should use for the bottom ruffle. When I got the fabric at WM the only other fabrics that matched the Ariel was the purple and blue, now that I look back I wish I would have waited and at least found one more color.. So I can't make up my mind what color the bottom ruffle should be: blue, purple, or the Ariel print. I need to get this thing done. please help! :goodvibes jen

I would use the Ariel fabric on the bottom. Or,(or perhaps, and) incorporate the red rickrack on the bottom. You did a great job on all the outfits, but the Ariel is my favorite!

Of the colors you listed, I think I'd prefer the purple. But a red/orange (I noticed you used rick-rack on the straps) or green (like Ariel's flipper) could be cute and add a little extra "pop," if you can find the right colors.

Just my 2¢. Take it for what it's worth. ;)

Ok, call me weird, but I was looking at this and thinking...it needs red. You have Ariel's red hair in the print, the red rickrack on the sleeves....I'd do a small ruffle in a red the shade of hair/rickrack. I know you don't have red fabric anyhere else...but think about that skirt we all wowed over that had that "doesn't match, but goes great" blue in it. It spiffed up that whole piece....and I think red would do that for your outfit (which is adorable by the way).

I think it would look better if you added a ruffle in the Ariel print and some more red rick rack at the bottom. Take a scrap of fabric and pin it to the bottom and see if it is what you are looking for. I think that by having the bottom ruffle match the bodice and the straps it will look more uniform. Kinda pull it all together.

I like the idea of the red ruffle too. I was thinking of trying to bring out the red when I suggested the rickrack. I think a red ruffle would really look good.

Don't you just love us suggesting to use something you don't have!!!:rotfl: I guess you will have to go to the meetup at Hancock's to buy some! :lmao:

I am making myself a blouse from Butterick B4469 from some swirly Mickey Head fabric. I have been making stuff for the kids first though. Someone else suggested that pattern it is really cute and perfect for the hot Florida Sunshine.

I will post a photo when I am done. I have to take the kids swimming today.

Ok, in my never ending quest to find free patterns for myself and you guys, I ran across a pretty neat site. It's got lots of different patterns and ideas for costumes. Not exactly boutique, but very cute!

http://www.fancycostumes.co.uk/index.htm

They sell items too, but they also have the patterns, for free, on the site. Just look under Girls Designs or Boys Designs for the patterns they have.

And, I'll add it to the bookmark site too. I add stuff all the time, and don't usually post it, so if something wasn't there yesterday, it could be today. I've added a doll section too, becasuse someone was looking for doll clothes the other day.

Has Dena posted her small world/epcot outfit yet? I searched ebay earlier and nothingcame up.

My family did this just last Halloween. We always dress up in theme as a family. I'll have to post a picture as soon as I can. It was *SO* much fun. We've done Toy Story, Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, Monster's Inc., and Peter Pan so far. My boys *really* want to do Peter Pan again (much to my disappointment--I like to do something new every year, but hey, you're only a kid once!! Oh well.) They've been obsessed with all things Peter Pan for about 3 years now (they're only 5 years old mind you! Maybe this isn't a phase!)

DH (Mr. Smee) Me (Wendy) DS (Peter Pan) DS (Captain Hook) Baby daughter (Tinkerbell)

Wish I had a pic uploaded to show you.. We did this last year (we do family themed costumes as well) NO- last year we did POTC- except DS8- was a jedi b/c he refused to be a pirate. The year before we did PP, me-Wendy , DS7 Peter, DH Cpt. Hook, DD-3 mo. tink( how adorable was that!!!)
My inlaws had Indian costumes my mil had made so they wore them it was great. This year we are doing Gangsters/molls/flappers. Except DS AGAIN, he just refuses to play along. If I find a pic of our Peter Pan costumes I will post them.
...t.

That's such an awesome story. I love that girl!

When I grew up, I remember the characters just roamed the park for people to meet and greet at their leisure. Now ALL of them have CM bouncers. I'm sure having the bouncers makes it easier on the characters, particularly the ones in full costume in the summer heat (I *can't* imagine) . But it definately does lose so many of the truly magical character moments I remember as a kid. There was never a line to meet character's and they always had plenty of time to play with the guests. They kind of rush people right through now. That's really kind of why I've started making outfits and custom autograph books for my kiddos. It helps them stand out from the crowd and the characters just love it. They get a lot more time with the characters when they have their special clothes and autograph books than when they don't--and the resulting pictures are *priceless*!

On our first trip to Disneyland, my 3 year old boys were so excited to meet Minnie Mouse in front of Small World. Right when it was their turn to meet Minnie, an *cough* ADULT *cough* butt in line and said that the picture he took with Minnie earlier didn't work and that he wanted another. As soon as he was finished the bouncers ushered Minnie off with my 3 year old boys standing there crying. I could've spit nails I was so upset over the situation!!!!

I just got back from Disneyland 3 weeks ago and I was extremely disapointed in the way they handle the characters there. It is a free for all. I was with my sister and niece and her friend for a HS graduation trip, so I didn't have any little ones with me, but we did want to get a few silly pics of them with the characters. We ended up giving up because the only way to do it was to get in a shoving match with the other "guests". I actually mentioned it at City Hall when we were there about another issue and the lady said "I hear that all the time from people who have been to DW." I used to get annoyed with the handlers, but I will never again. I saw how it would be withouth the "bouncers".[/QUOTE]

Obviously the whole character handler thing was an invention of necessity. Regardless of regulating crowd control the character HAVE to get back inside in a timely manner. Imagine being inside those suits on a 98 degree day (this morning at 8:00am it was 91 here) and they obviously can't just walk past kids or push through a crowd they have to BE that character and what the kids expect at all times. So to have a handler that says, "Oh, it's time for Mickey to go..." is a bit political as well.
I think it is a commentary on our social decline. That we would be so careless, thoughtless and/or selfish that we need someone to step in so that these characters are able to do their job well. Like mytwotinks said at DL w/ no handlers people were pushing and shoving. What??? I know you've spent a lot of money, time etc... for this trip to see the mouse and maybe it's the only trip you'll ever take but still you can't see past yourself to see the danger you put others in by pushing shoving and demanding the attention of this character who needs to get into the air conditioning. I get the "but we were next in line..." thing but someone has to be last. There will always be someone in the line and I don't know how many of you have suffered from heat stroke, but you can die from it. It's no fun. I've seen, pre handler days, characters trying to get inside when they were just mobbed w/ people and you could see the character practically begging to be let go of.
While I miss running into the characters at the parks I do understand the neccessity for this system.
We are going to go the magical beginnings thing w/ DD this year and hope that she has a chance to mingle w/ the characters a little more. We don't really ever stand in line to see them DS9 doesn't care and she was too little before now to. But now she's 2 and totally knows Mickey Mouse and Jasmine so I hope that this is a remedy for us, at least for now.

First, Does anyone else spend ten minutes trying to figure out what page they last left off on??? :rotfl: I mentally note the page # but I have yet to remember what it was when I get back to the computer.

I have a word document that I've been cutting/pasting tips, pictures, ideas that I've gotten from this thread (and subsequently it's now got stuff from ebay or other websites that get referenced). At the very top of this page I have a line "page left off at dis 331"....that way I open my word doc and know exactly where to go. This little document was "supposed" to just be a few notes, tips, etc.....but it's got a life of its own, not unlike this thread....it's currently 233 document pages!
