I got a lot of this fabric at Hobby Lobby so I made two. I am going to try listing it on ebay to get a little extra money for my trip coming up in August.

Here's a few photos.

What do you think?

I think you did a great job. We don't get to see much Buzz so this is a breath of fresh air. This one will sell in a heartbeat.

robnkris (krista), nice! I am so glad you posted because I have 2 teenagers who won't do frills and twirly dresses (lol). You have inspired me!

Everyone is doing such lovely work ... it's also nice to see stuff for the older set and adults like what Monorail wore and what krista made, know what I mean? ;)

I am soooo indecisive! I won this dress on eBay, but I'm debating getting it like it is, or with one less tier to make it shorter and less full.

shorter.jpg

The picture on the left in the original version with 3 tiers and a ruffle. On the right, I "photoshopped" one tier out :) so its 2 plus the ruffle. What do you all think? My concern is that my DD will just be 3 and that the longer dress may be too long, and too full, and too HOT for a September trip. Does the shorter version look funny? Does it take away from the whole look of the dress?

I can't decide! The girl who makes the dress has been super nice and helpful, but I'm sure she thinks I'm crazy by now!

Any thoughts? Thanks! :flower3:

We were there last sept and my dd's wore dresses that were this long and were fine... I love long sundresses....I vote for the original style...:thumbsup2

I posted a few days ago about sewing on a ruffle. Someone replied that you sew it on upside down - right sides together and cut edges together. Do you sew it first and then flip it down and iron it? Does it stay down or do I need to do more? Also, what do you do with the raw edges where the ruffle is sewn to the dress?

Thanks!

Wow! This picture is priceless! What are the chances of getting all four of these characters in a picture with your daughter in her little Alice dress? Unbelieveable!!

There is a really cool stroy behind the photo.

My DD met the Tweedles. She saw Alice and the Mad Hatter. They were going to do one ride and then sign autographs. We ran over to the bathroom where she changed into her dress. We were gone about ten minutes. When we came back the castmember said sorry the line is closed she can't meet them. I argued a little bit. I was being polite. I explained we had been waiting all week for this. I made the dress. I do not sew and I made this dress. I stayed up until 6:00 am they day before we left to make this dress.

She said we could see them in the parade and they would be gone the rest of the day. I told her we were not going to be here for the parade. I bent over an tried to explain to my daughter why she could not meet Alice. She is three so keep that in mind. DD ran sobbing like some one killed her dog to my Dad. My dad tried everything to console her like ask for a pony I will buy you one. Nothing would console her.

Out of the blue this girl who was maybe 17 came over and said she can have my place! Iv'e been here before it means more to her. I started to ball. I was in disbelief that someone would be so kind to my DD. I gave her a huge hug and so did my DD.

When it was time to meet Alice the Mad Hatter said well if this is not a photo op what is! Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum ran over and she meet them all together! I then noticed the cast memeber who refused us pulled a camera out of her pocket and took pictures!

The kindness of that girl was outstanding. She would not accept anything in return. She was just a really great person![/QUOTE]

Great story & great pic!!! Love those pixie dust moments!!!!

Ok here is my first Disney outfit. My dd is 11 and wanted something a little more grown up. This is from a Lizzie McGuire pattern. You might not be able to tell it in the pictures but it has three ruffles around the bottom and ties in the back. What do you think? I will see if I can get her to model it tommorrow.

Ok, but, I'm going to pout like a nine year old girl, until I see the picture. And, believe you me, I have a very good example to go by, right here in my own house! :rotfl:

Thanks!

After you sew it on right side togethers you iron it pressing the seam up towards the top of the dress/pants.

Then you stitch over it so that it lays flat and it also has a little more strength if the child were to step on it. If you want you could trim down the raw edges where the ruffle is sewn but I don't usually mess around with it too much.

I sometimes go back and pick out the threads from gathering the fabric. But you have to be careful!

UMMMM Tink.....am I allowed out of the corner now or am I still in trouble? LMBO, I am actually cutting your fabrics right now! :rotfl2:

I am also trying to upload pictures of my DD in my all new, super spectacular Epcot/Small World outfit that I recently finished...gotta list it tomorrow for my design groups launch!

OK ladies, gotta go sew for Tink now, lol!

Very cute! There isn't to much on Ebay as far as Disney customs for boys. I would make sure to put boutique in the auction name, even though boutique you think of a girl I think you would get more views :goodvibes

Thanks for the tip! I'll edit the auction.

I swear the next outfit will actually be disney :rotfl2: I still need to do buttons but I'm kinda scared so right now I just sewed the shoulder straps on :confused3 But I think it looks okay. Maybe tomorrow dd can model it :cool2:

That's such an awesome story. I love that girl!

When I grew up, I remember the characters just roamed the park for people to meet and greet at their leisure. Now ALL of them have CM bouncers. I'm sure having the bouncers makes it easier on the characters, particularly the ones in full costume in the summer heat (I *can't* imagine) . But it definately does lose so many of the truly magical character moments I remember as a kid. There was never a line to meet character's and they always had plenty of time to play with the guests. They kind of rush people right through now. That's really kind of why I've started making outfits and custom autograph books for my kiddos. It helps them stand out from the crowd and the characters just love it. They get a lot more time with the characters when they have their special clothes and autograph books than when they don't--and the resulting pictures are *priceless*!

On our first trip to Disneyland, my 3 year old boys were so excited to meet Minnie Mouse in front of Small World. Right when it was their turn to meet Minnie, an *cough* ADULT *cough* butt in line and said that the picture he took with Minnie earlier didn't work and that he wanted another. As soon as he was finished the bouncers ushered Minnie off with my 3 year old boys standing there crying. I could've spit nails I was so upset over the situation!!!!

REALLY cute! My daughter loves Care Bears too!

Okay one more question . . .

Any ideas for a Pocahontas costume. I really did not like the one at the park. It did not look like her dress. I have looked through all the pattern books and really did not find much. I did see an outfit that would be cute for Tiger Lilly.

I am really hoping the will do the Pirate and Princess Party next March too. My idea is to get the whole family dressed up. DH- Peter Pan (in pants) Me- Wendy, DD3 Tiger Lily, and the babe 18 months Tink!

I don't know if DD3 almost 4 will be okay with not being a princess when all the other girls are!!!

My family did this just last Halloween. We always dress up in theme as a family. I'll have to post a picture as soon as I can. It was *SO* much fun. We've done Toy Story, Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, Monster's Inc., and Peter Pan so far. My boys *really* want to do Peter Pan again (much to my disappointment--I like to do something new every year, but hey, you're only a kid once!! Oh well.) They've been obsessed with all things Peter Pan for about 3 years now (they're only 5 years old mind you! Maybe this isn't a phase!)

DH (Mr. Smee) Me (Wendy) DS (Peter Pan) DS (Captain Hook) Baby daughter (Tinkerbell)
