Okay ladies, heres my second ever sewing creation :cool1: My dd really likes care bears so she picked out the fabric. I swear the next outfit will actually be disney :rotfl2: I still need to do buttons but I'm kinda scared so right now I just sewed the shoulder straps on :confused3 But I think it looks okay. Maybe tomorrow dd can model it :cool2:

My daughter loves Care Bears too: so cute! I think the best thing about this hobby is I can let my daughter loose in the fabric store and let her pick whatever her heart desires.

I got a lot of this fabric at Hobby Lobby so I made two. I am going to try listing it on ebay to get a little extra money for my trip coming up in August.

Here's a few photos.

What do you think?

From a mom of 3 boys...I love it! This is my favorite style for the very young ones, a jon jon. Cute!

My girls would love this....TOO CUTE!!!

Thank you so much everyone for you comments on the Disney Cutie shirt! I will see if she wants to put it on after VBS. I am thinking about putting it with a black skirt or capries. I just love everyones outfits that they have made! You are all such a creative bunch!

Very cute! I made my dd a carebear blanket for her birthday once since she likes them too.

:rotfl: Alright, I finally finished my very first twirl skirt, and I thought I'd take some pics before I take the waistband off and do it again. :lmao: I'm not pleased with the way the waist turned out. I wasn't planning ahead and should've enclosed the raw edges. Eventhough I did serge them, I think they would be too uncomfortable. Also, I have not trimmed off all the little threads and the basting stitches, etc. Please tell me honestly what you think. Seriously, I will only learn from honest criticism. I know some of you won't like the orange and blue though, so please pardon that lapse in judgement. :rotfl2:

My dd is still in her Ariel jammies, so please don't look at the top that doesn't match or my dirty house.

And my dd trying to twirl

BTW, my dd doesn't like it at all. She doesn't like the gators on it. Eventhough I, myself, am a Fightin' Tiger, my dd's tuition is already paid, so I hope she learns to like gators. :rotfl:

Where's the love:love: Shout out to the gator fans out there:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Ya'll are just jealous because we are #1!! Obviously, I love the skirt. She'll wise up eventually and realize how gorgeous orange/blue are.;)

If anyone is interested, when I was in Hancock Fabrics last weekend (the blue green mickey head fabric was on clearance) I got a flyer for their Wild weekend sale this weekend only-skin prints normally 4.99-8.99 a yard will be 1.99 a yard and all animal print ribbon will be 30% off. Just thought for any of those AK projects, it might be worth a venture into the store. Also, when I just checked out their website, all licensed character prints were 30% off.

Here is some of the fabric i bought at Walmart a couple of days ago

I want to make a dress maybe out of these two fabrics. I was thinking maybe a stripwork dress, and on the front cut out the animal/letters that are my daughters initials? The stripe coordinates very well. I bought 5 yards of this. I am thinking about making her a quilt out of this as well. It's stunning in person!

I am so excited about this, bought five yards, haven't the slightest clue what to do with it!!!!

robnkris (krista), nice! I am so glad you posted because I have 2 teenagers who won't do frills and twirly dresses (lol). You have inspired me!

Everyone is doing such lovely work ... it's also nice to see stuff for the older set and adults like what Monorail wore and what krista made, know what I mean? ;)

I agree! I'd love to see some more adult creations.

OT- My DH is a twin too! Is yours an identical twin? Mine is.

Wow... I only sewed my finger once and had to use my seam ripper 3 times but I think I did ok on DD's Minnie twirl.. You'll never know by the picture of her... I think she is sick of trying things on! How did I do for a first attempt?

There is a really cool stroy behind the photo.

My DD met the Tweedles. She saw Alice and the Mad Hatter. They were going to do one ride and then sign autographs. We ran over to the bathroom where she changed into her dress. We were gone about ten minutes. When we came back the castmember said sorry the line is closed she can't meet them. I argued a little bit. I was being polite. I explained we had been waiting all week for this. I made the dress. I do not sew and I made this dress. I stayed up until 6:00 am they day before we left to make this dress.

She said we could see them in the parade and they would be gone the rest of the day. I told her we were not going to be here for the parade. I bent over an tried to explain to my daughter why she could not meet Alice. She is three so keep that in mind. DD ran sobbing like some one killed her dog to my Dad. My dad tried everything to console her like ask for a pony I will buy you one. Nothing would console her.

Out of the blue this girl who was maybe 17 came over and said she can have my place! Iv'e been here before it means more to her. I started to ball. I was in disbelief that someone would be so kind to my DD. I gave her a huge hug and so did my DD.

When it was time to meet Alice the Mad Hatter said well if this is not a photo op what is! Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum ran over and she meet them all together! I then noticed the cast memeber who refused us pulled a camera out of her pocket and took pictures!

The kindness of that girl was outstanding. She would not accept anything in return. She was just a really great person!

What a wonderful story! Like you, I would have been bawling my eyes out.

That's such an awesome story. I love that girl!

When I grew up, I remember the characters just roamed the park for people to meet and greet at their leisure. Now ALL of them have CM bouncers. I'm sure having the bouncers makes it easier on the characters, particularly the ones in full costume in the summer heat (I *can't* imagine) . But it definately does lose so many of the truly magical character moments I remember as a kid. There was never a line to meet character's and they always had plenty of time to play with the guests. They kind of rush people right through now. That's really kind of why I've started making outfits and custom autograph books for my kiddos. It helps them stand out from the crowd and the characters just love it. They get a lot more time with the characters when they have their special clothes and autograph books than when they don't--and the resulting pictures are *priceless*!

On our first trip to Disneyland, my 3 year old boys were so excited to meet Minnie Mouse in front of Small World. Right when it was their turn to meet Minnie, an *cough* ADULT *cough* butt in line and said that the picture he took with Minnie earlier didn't work and that he wanted another. As soon as he was finished the bouncers ushered Minnie off with my 3 year old boys standing there crying. I could've spit nails I was so upset over the situation!!!!

I just got back from Disneyland 3 weeks ago and I was extremely disapointed in the way they handle the characters there. It is a free for all. I was with my sister and niece and her friend for a HS graduation trip, so I didn't have any little ones with me, but we did want to get a few silly pics of them with the characters. We ended up giving up because the only way to do it was to get in a shoving match with the other "guests". I actually mentioned it at City Hall when we were there about another issue and the lady said "I hear that all the time from people who have been to DW." I used to get annoyed with the handlers, but I will never again. I saw how it would be withouth the "bouncers".

These are really cute! I think the abc fabric and stripes would make a great skirt. Love using the letters to make a monogram. Make sure you post a picture when you are done!

The Rudolph fabric would be great as a Christmas theme skirt. I would look for some coordinating Christmas fabric.

Maybe something white, and a blue snowflake print?

Happy Sewing.

You know I looked for a white with blue snowflake, I thought that would be perfect too! I have to keep looking though, it's not to be found yet! I always buy fabrics, and have ideas, and then....well I buy fabric, and have great ideas:love:

I LOVE it! What an awesome job you did! I have yet to attempt a patchwork twirly skirt. How long did it take you? I despise gathering, so I think that's partly what is deterring me. But, after seeing this adorable outfit, it makes me want to try!

And, your daughter is too cute! I love that expression!!!! And, she's got gorgeous hair!

I went to Disney World every year as a child, and I don't remember seeing many of the characters then. They have a lot more now. Although, I think we do have a picture of me with Mickey Mouse when I was about 7. Anyway, I like the organization of Disney World. I had no idea DL didn't do it the same way. It seems like it would be more dangerous for everyone. Those guys can't really see in those costumes, and could easily knock someone over without knowing it. And, it just opens them up to all sorts of accusation and trouble.

We just got back! My DDs wore adorable shirts -- one set made by "Castle Creations" from right here on DIS. The other set I found on eBay. We got SO much attention from cast members when they were wearing the shirts, and so many compliments and questions from people! I wish I'd bought MORE so they could have worn something "special" every day!

Here are the SAFARI shirts by Castle Creations:

And these are from eBay (I'm not sure if it's okay to list her name here):

Ok Ladies~ before I get caught up I need your help!! But first I wanted to show you the shorts I made the other day and said I would post. Just a note, my daughter is wearing the short, but they are for her slightly bigger cousin.
aaPicture159.jpg

I think If I would have made them four panels like all other shorts are they wouldn't have wings...lol

OK! Now here is my problem. Normally I can get an outfit made in a day. I am just not feeling this one, I think because I am making it for a friends DD. Anyway, I am at a lost what I should use for the bottom ruffle. When I got the fabric at WM the only other fabrics that matched the Ariel was the purple and blue, now that I look back I wish I would have waited and at least found one more color.. So I can't make up my mind what color the bottom ruffle should be: blue, purple, or the Ariel print. I need to get this thing done. please help! :goodvibes jen
