OK ladies, gotta go sew for Tink now, lol!

Dena

Can we get a sneak preview? Pretty Please! :flower3:

On another note.....Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday about the twin girls adopted from China. They were abandonded in a textile factory. Well it's funny because the moms were on this DIS board and one posted a photo that her adopted Mia was having a b-day and the other mom IM'ed her. They talked about the girls, the b-days, where they were left, and low and behold got the paternity test....SISTERS! ! ! Upon meeting at the airport for the 1st time the girls took right to each other like the have been together all along. It was a heart felt story. VERY VERY Cute lil girls. Both were named Mia (the parents each chose that name for some reason) one adoptive parent said god told her to name the angel Mia.

Isn't that lovely !
One of the families lives near us in south Florida. They are members of our Families with Children from China group. It's an amazing story!

There is a really cool stroy behind the photo.

My DD met the Tweedles. She saw Alice and the Mad Hatter. They were going to do one ride and then sign autographs. We ran over to the bathroom where she changed into her dress. We were gone about ten minutes. When we came back the castmember said sorry the line is closed she can't meet them. I argued a little bit. I was being polite. I explained we had been waiting all week for this. I made the dress. I do not sew and I made this dress. I stayed up until 6:00 am they day before we left to make this dress.

She said we could see them in the parade and they would be gone the rest of the day. I told her we were not going to be here for the parade. I bent over an tried to explain to my daughter why she could not meet Alice. She is three so keep that in mind. DD ran sobbing like some one killed her dog to my Dad. My dad tried everything to console her like ask for a pony I will buy you one. Nothing would console her.

Out of the blue this girl who was maybe 17 came over and said she can have my place! Iv'e been here before it means more to her. I started to ball. I was in disbelief that someone would be so kind to my DD. I gave her a huge hug and so did my DD.

When it was time to meet Alice the Mad Hatter said well if this is not a photo op what is! Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum ran over and she meet them all together! I then noticed the cast memeber who refused us pulled a camera out of her pocket and took pictures!

The kindness of that girl was outstanding. She would not accept anything in return. She was just a really great person!

WOW! That's the Disney magic for you! What a wonderful story! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Thanks Tink! :yay:

Got em all uploaded now, just need to get my listing info ready!

LadyRob I will send you a PM of the Epcot outfit, gotta a little sneak peek of something else for you too!

Well I am talking more like the blue outfit on the right of the pattern/ Its a halter tie at the back of the neck, but goes all the way down to the ankles in one piece. Thanks for the pattern , at least that is a start!

That's what I thought you were looking for. I should look through my pattern stash in the basement, I have some pretty "retro" patterns down there!

OOH! I want to see pictutes!

I am soooo indecisive! I won this dress on eBay, but I'm debating getting it like it is, or with one less tier to make it shorter and less full.

shorter.jpg

The picture on the left in the original version with 3 tiers and a ruffle. On the right, I "photoshopped" one tier out :) so its 2 plus the ruffle. What do you all think? My concern is that my DD will just be 3 and that the longer dress may be too long, and too full, and too HOT for a September trip. Does the shorter version look funny? Does it take away from the whole look of the dress?

I can't decide! The girl who makes the dress has been super nice and helpful, but I'm sure she thinks I'm crazy by now!

Any thoughts? Thanks! :flower3:

Absolutely positively keep it long. You will get more wear out if it, and it's just cuter long. I hope you post pictures of your daughter in it when you get it. I LOVE this dress! It's on my "someday" list of things to make!

Ok here is my first Disney outfit. My dd is 11 and wanted something a little more grown up. This is from a Lizzie McGuire pattern. You might not be able to tell it in the pictures but it has three ruffles around the bottom and ties in the back. What do you think? I will see if I can get her to model it tommorrow.

Great outfit! My daughter loves the Disney Cuties! You did a really nice job! I like that pattern. I hope your daughter will model it for us.

Hey now! That's not fair!!!! (the little red faced guy, becasue I couldn't find a foot stompin, fit throwin, smiley)

Wow! This picture is priceless! What are the chances of getting all four of these characters in a picture with your daughter in her little Alice dress? Unbelieveable!!

I vote for keeping it long also.

Thanks so much for the detailed photos.

I did the Alice in Wonderland dress for DD. It doubles as Dorthy's dress. I think I can make some adjustments to the pattern.

Here is Alice. It was a Simplicity pattern.

That is precious!! I've been thinking about DD being Alice for Halloween and I think your pic just sealed the deal. So cute!!

We had a young girl do something really nice for my DS on our last trip. She has no idea how happy she made him!

I am soooo indecisive! I won this dress on eBay, but I'm debating getting it like it is, or with one less tier to make it shorter and less full.

I like them both, but I like the shorter version a little better.
Congratulations on the win! I love the blue in that outfit!

Oh, let us see the pictures--pretty please with sugar on top! You know that those of us who are obsessed with all things custom live for this!!:yay:

I've been lurking on this thread for months and I don't even have kids. I just dream of all the outfits I'm going to make my future daughters.

Then I bought these super cute minnie polka dot shoes.
DSCN4509.jpg

I started thinking I wanted to make a shirt to match them to take a picture with Minnie. I usually do iron-on's but I decided to attempt a custom shirt.

Here's my first ever try...
P7100065.jpg

P7100067.jpg

P7100069.jpg

This took me around 3 hours, but I imagine if I did it again I could do it faster. The hardest part was figuring out how to get the shirt to be stretched out when I was applying the ribbon. It would probably be a lot easier with a t-shirt that doesn't have to stretch.

I used some type of iron on stuff for fabric that TravelinGal reccomended. A big thanks goes out to TravelinGal for putting up with my phone calls and PM's asking questions!

Originally I was going to put one strip of the red polka dot ribbon with black on the top and bottom. After I put on the red ribbon, I tried on the shirt and it was way toooo low. It looked ridiculous. I almost gave up. Then I decided I could just put another strip of red ribbon on top and put the black in the middle. I still felt like it was too low, which is why I put the Minnie up higher.

I love the way it turned out!!!

I saw this this morning but couldn't respond then.

You did such a great job! I love the whole ensemble. The shoes are TDF!!!

That is truly Disney magic! What a cool dress and story! Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely promise to share pictures here tomorrow after I have had a chance to list the outfit...it will be another $0.99 no reserve auction too, I am so excited!

Okay one more question . . .

Any ideas for a Pocahontas costume. I really did not like the one at the park. It did not look like her dress. I have looked through all the pattern books and really did not find much. I did see an outfit that would be cute for Tiger Lilly.

I am really hoping the will do the Pirate and Princess Party next March too. My idea is to get the whole family dressed up. DH- Peter Pan (in pants) Me- Wendy, DD3 Tiger Lily, and the babe 18 months Tink!

I don't know if DD3 almost 4 will be okay with not being a princess when all the other girls are!!!
