Kids CS credit usage - please clarify

Hi,

Quite often our son will want his lunch at an earlier or later time than us, and quite often different type of food from another location! So is it ok for us to go in to a CS location and order 2 adult CS but no kids CS then at a different time or restaurant, just order the remaining kids CS? Rachel

You are fine. You can always order less meals than you are entitled to.

Hi Racheal,

You can order any amount of meals you want at any time. your party don't have to all order together, or even be in the same location.

My sister and myself split the kids and were in different parks one day, and we all ate lunch!

The system just keeps track of how many meals you have used, not when or where you used them.

So you need to keep track of things if you are relying on making the dining plan last your entire stay.

We found it easy to use up all our snack allocation in only a few days, but had loads of CS & TS meals left.

We were really bad at making the plan work, as I hadn't realised that you MUST reserve your chosen restaurants in advance, or miss out..

We were not too worried though, as the plan was free for us, traveling from the UK..

We still wasted around $700 worth of food credits though :rolleyes2 So next trip I have resolved to do better!

Good luck and enjoy your Vacation,

Hazel :)

Right, but you can still program the difference...and allow an override in those locations.

Alternately (and probably more effective), you just offer duplicate buttons in those establishements that SAY "kids blah blah", when they're actually duplicates of the adult items on the POS system. No difference (price or offering) other than which button the CM pushes. In terms of inventory control...you just bucket them to the same places.

I've done similar stuff (though I'm not in retail, so it's not in POS) before (I'm an IT guy, FYI).

And it solves any problems arising from human enforcement/errors.

The reasoning behind it would be that it's not worth the resource/training investment, I guess...but, from my experience, it's a relatively easy change on the programming and DB side of things (so it doesn't seem like it would be much in the way of resources, there). Sure, there's opportunity for error on the CM side...but the opportunity is probably greater, now.

It would be nice if Disney did this not only to limit any possible cheating but also to help people who are trying not to cheat like smitch425 who had 3 adult CS credits leftover but had to stand in two separate lines.

My family is 2 adults and 1 child, right now. So if one day we were hungry at lunch and I wanted to get 3 adult CS and the next day we werent so I wanted to get 1 adult and 2 child CS...I should technically be allowed to do this by the "rules" that state I can use my credits in any order...but a CM would not allow me to order this way since KTTW would say 2 adults, 1 child.

I was under the idea that since we have 4 adults (according to Disney) and 2 children, we would have 24 adult cs credits and 12 child cs credits for our 6 day stay and we could use them in any combination as long as we didn't exceed our allotment. For example.... I thought if we all ate a cs meal and then 6 yo ds decided he was still hungry we could order an addtl kids meal. Same thing... If only dh and dd 13 wanted breakfast at 6 am they could go eat and the rest of us could eat cereal in the room if we so chose. I guess I also assumed that if on Friday we had 6 adult cs credits left and no kids cs credits left that we could still order all 6 meals at one time. Is this not correct??

Also, does this mean that we all have to be standing there to order? My dd 6 is in a wheelchair and we usually try to get her settled while dh and other kids take care of getting food. Please help me understand.

Thanks!

It doesn't quite work that way.

The system can't tell the difference between an Adult CS and a Kids CS. So, they leave it to the CM's to enforce your credits (Adult vs Kid).

At the bottom of your Key to the Wold Card (which is what you "charge" the meal plan credits to...basically your room key), it lists your party make up. It's why you DON'T all need to be standing there.

In your case it would say something like this:

4A 2C

When you go to order CS meals, the CM will look at your card. They will not allow you to order more (but you can always order less) than what your card indicates. In your case, that would mean no more than 4 Adult CS meals and 2 Kids CS meals per order.

We've had it happen where we've had extra adult CS meals left on our last day. We get around it by having BOTH my wife AND I go through the lines and order. Since it's two separate orders, they don't give us grief. I order 2 meals, she orders 2 meals..and we're all set.

Does that mean if we have 6 cs credits left at the end of the week (assuming all adult) that we CAN go through as one group and get 4 adult and 2 kids meals? Since that is our party make up. I'm not trying to break the rules. I just want to use up all our credits while not making people eat when they don't want to.

You definitely don't have to all stand there to order. You CAN use the credits however you wish...the only caveat is that adult and child ordering is enforced by CMs (using your KTTW card) and honor system rather than the computer deducting adult and child CS credits. So if your KTTW will have 4 adults and 2 child. The MOST meals you can order at one time at one location is 4 adult meals and 2 child meals--one person in your party can order this. If someone then gets hungry, you can get in line again and ordedr up to 4 adult meals and 2 child meals.

Yes, you could. They wouldn't bat an eye.
