My kids birthdays will both fall around the time we are in WDW. We are going to celebrate them while we are there. my son will be turning 1, daughter 5. Any suggestions or tips on what I can do there to make it special. Can I order special cakes or anything? I have never been to WDW myself, so have no idea what I can do. Thanks!

I am new to the Disney experience too, we are going in August with our girls who will be 17months and almost 3yrs. We are having an early dinner at Chef Mickey's for the 3yr old B-day. A few days before our reservations, we are to call them and order a cake, it is an extra charge, but reasonable price.
I found some good ideas here:

I would do a character meal. For your daughter, if she loves princesses, do Cinderella's Royal Table. I know they have all the Princesses sign a special place mat for her but I believe you need to specially request it. As for you son, my neice is 1.5 and loves Winni the Pooh. We're doing the Crystal Palace breakfast since they have Pooh and friends. Chef Mickey has all the classic characters: Mickey, Minni, Pluto, etc.

In '05 we went to disney for my birthday as well as my graduation from elementary school. We went to the animal kingdom and my uncle told someone in like a little building called guest relations it was my birthday and I got a pin that showed everyone it was. Then when we went to restaurantosaurous(sp?) for breakfast everyone sang happy birthday to me and I got a card signed by all the characters I must admit it was cool. But I dont know exactly where my unlce got the birthday pin because my memories are a little foggy so that's basically it.

Have some special shirts made up that say "Today is my birthday" or "I'm the birthday boy/girl!" We will be there for my sons 9th birthday and I got his shirt at www.zazzle.com they have plenty of Disney stuff to choose from and also onsies for babies that can be printed on. As they wear the shirt they will get plenty of attention from well-wisher the whole day thru! I have also heard if you take them to the barber shop on Main st. they do something special. Make sure you tell them when you make your ADR's you are celebrating a birthday (it doen't necessarily have to be ON the day of the ressie)..you can celebrate the birthday all week! I have also heard if you tell a CM at the start of the parade you are celebrating a b-day they will have your child be part of the parade. So basically if you shout it from the roof tops you will be heard and the kids will love it (and you'll have some great pics to show for it). :cloud9:
Almost forgot, if you are staying in the park call the front desk and ask for Goofy's birthday message. Don't forget to let the front desk you are celebrating as well....
Oh, one more thing...go to Town Hall and get a button that says "It's my birthday" you can pick that up any time during your stay.

We did this 2years ago for our kids birthday they were 4 & 11. I read so much on these boards. Be sure and tell the hotel your staying at esp. if in Disney, we stayed at POP and on their birthday Mickey and Minnie had baloons and cards delivered to our room. That was a cool surprise returning from the park and seeing them, also had tied to towel art animal. I had one of the wonderful artists on the Creative Design forum make me designs for shirts that I printed, ironed on cheap shirts from AC moore and we wore them. Because CMs noticed the shirts they got free fast passes, sung to in line at a ride, and free desserts. People just walking by us would shout Happy Birthday!!! Buttons at each guest servuice in each park. We decorated our window in Hotel with Birthday Banner and fun Disney Window clings, also put stuff they got at character breakfasts. They got cards at all of them. Best birthday!!! I want to go celebrate Mine there!!!

We are planning our next trip for aug 09. My oldest daughter's b-day is in June and my youngest daughter's is in sep. would they get the treatment for celebrating b-days even though we are not going to be there when their b-day is. We are celebrating with special meals and the such.

Yes, the Birthday celebration doesn't have to be on the day or week. They told me that as long as your celebrating it doesn't matter.

They don't ask for proof that it's someone's birthday. Celebrate away. :thumbsup2
