Are you keeping your THV reservation? Or going with SSR?

:rotfl2: No idea. I'm going to make someone very happy if I cancel. I wanted to end the trip at AKV but really want Club Level so it may be at the beginning. CL will cost me 50 more points it at this point I'm almost of of 2012 so why not dip into 2013? :woohoo: :dance3: I've lost it.

Trying to figure out if we're flying in on August 11th or the evening before. We may just fly in Friday night and get settled. If we do that, I need to book something for the night before. There would be 5 of us (3 adults and 2 kids). I've tossed around the idea of just a value or mod for one night. Let's see what happens with airfare. That's the determining factor.

You booked your outbound flight, right? I need to add my dates into kayak with one way options.

I thought about staying at the POR on arrival night too but I want to unpack.

My brother, SIL, and niece booked airfare on SW and will be arriving a day earlier (August 17th). They're staying in a standard view AKL room for the night and then switching over to Kidani for 7 nights in a savanna view studio.

That sounds great! Did they book the standard to save points or was Kidani not available?

I can start booking ADRs in 2 weeks. So far, we know we're doing BOMA for dinner on the night my brother, SIL, and niece arrive since they'll be in Jambo House.

Love Boma. :thumbsup2 Chloe asked to do it again. Josh asked for Sci Fi again. I'm going to have to be strong if I'm going to stick with our all-new-ADRs plan.

:ccat: 46 days until 7 month booking!!! :ccat:

:donald: 80 days until ADRs!!! :donald:

We borrowed points too. I never worry about that. Eventually, I'll catch up or add on again. :rotfl:

We booked our outbound flights. We're flying from MCO --> JFK on Saturday, August 25th. I was able to use miles for 3 tickets. And the fourth ticket only cost about $140.00, so not bad at all. I need to book inbound flights on either August 10 or 11 for 5, either from NYC (preferably JFK) or the Washington, D.C. area. Airfare is so high lately. I've NEVER paid $200 one way per person from NYC to MCO. Since we're so close to so many airports, I've checked EVERYTHING, JFK, LaGuardia (ewww), Newark, White Plains, Philadelphia, New Haven, and even Boston. :rotfl: Boston would be a stretch. It wouldn't make sense to take the train or drive there just to save a few bucks.

We booked their savanna view studio for them. They are thinking of becoming DVC members. Since they decided to come in a day earlier, they're just going to pay cash for the 1 night at AKL in a standard view room. Since they'll have sv for 7 nights, they didn't think it made sense to book sv at AKL for one night.

I am tempted to arrive a night early and book a new resort, but I'm not so sure. We'd book 2 rooms at a mod or a value. When I ran this by my mother, she said she thinks we'll be disappointed with the amount of space at the values since we've only done deluxe or DVC.

Could you mix some new restaurants with some favorites? My nephew asked for Sci-Fi again as well. And I can't NOT do Boma again if we're at Kidani.

It's not like it's a cc and were paying interest. I have no issues borrowing.

LaGuardia is the worst. :scared1: I agree airfare is nuts right now. I've price alerts from kayak up the wazoo. We do have a $300 Cont/United credit from M's fiasco with them at LaGuardia. I truly hate that airline however if flights stay around $500 pp rt, I'm going to need to use it.

If it's for one night, you'd be fine anywhere however the Values have little in the way of ammenitites. If its just a place to lay your head, what about a Sheraton or Hilton in DTD?

I hate change and am a creature of habit so this was a personal goal for me. :rotfl: Yes, I need to get a life.

I agree, not sure how'd we skip Boma during our AKV portion.

I agree with you about borrowing. I'm hoping DVC releases more info on GFV soon. I can't wait to buy.

I have to use Kayak. I'm very particular about the airlines I'll use. I like Southwest, but not a fan of no assigned seats. Airtran is o.k. I love American and JetBlue. Right now, JetBlue has the best schedule from JFK. American has one morning flight from JFK. I'm hoping they open up rewards seats on that flight. If that's the case, I'll have one free ticket and just have to buy 4. Delta, Continental, United, and USAirways are not even up for consideration. They could be dirt cheap, and I won't do it. Plus, most of Delta's reasonably priced airfare leaves from LaGuardia and that place is HORRIBLE.

If I don't leave the night before, I'll take the 6 a.m. JetBlue flight from JFK. I want to avoid arriving late afternoon/evening.

I'm a creature of habit as well. And I'm VERY particular about where I eat. I end up disappointed with many Disney places. I think it's because I go out to eat all the time in NYC and I've gotten better meals for less money there. I LOVE Chinese food and was so disappointed with Nine Dragons. I thought the food was just o.k. and the menu was so limited. Shun Lee Palace near Lincoln Center is one of my favs. And Evergreen off of 5th Avenue near Lord and Taylor is amazing and so inexpensive. Nine Dragons doesn't compare to either place or any hole in the wall place in Chinatown.

Have you done Boma for breakfast? I'm considering doing one breakfast and one dinner at Boma.

I haven't decided between Kidani or Jambo. We loved Jambo but didn't realize the 5th floor wasn't a great floor. They say the lower the better and Kidani offers the lower floor SV villas. But....Jambo is more alive. I like alive.

Continental/United is hands down the worst airline ever. Why don't you like Delta? M loves Delta. JetBlue is my choice or SW. Hate Fronteir. AirTran doesn't fly from SLC.

We will arrive in the afternoon no matter what. I tried the red eye route. So not worth the couple hundred bucks. :headache:

We haven't done Boma for breakfast but that's a good idea. We loved it for dinner. They've got this soup that's crazy good. :cloud9:

I like the food but it gets so old, so quickly. I was thinking about adding Teppan Edo. I knows it's your basic Japanese teppanyaki style cooking but my kids love that and we haven't been there.

:goodvibes

How long will you wait before booking your flights? Some people book each way separate with good results. I'd never thought of it before. Have you?

We've done it both ways but right now are actually looking at separate and may book this week, earlier than I'd hoped but we are getting paranoid. Good is relative, it will be twice what we've paid in the past. Which, granted, were incredible deals but...we've gotten used to it!

Which park will you do???

I like the idea of walking it out, so you never lose money! :thumbsup2

You'll have to wait and see! New PTR very soon. Walking it out is a good way to go.

Kayak is very helpful, it really got me great rates in the past, this year I'm not so sure as I just don't feel things will go down but...it's still helpful in evaluating the big picture and all options.

:headache:

See for us, I totally disagree. Red eye actually isn't any cheaper from here but with the time difference we have found that it is by FAR the best way to make the switch, right away. Otherwise we spend the entire day traveling east and then can't go to sleep and it's just downhill from there.

I love that Jambo has more going on in the lobby. And the CS place is there. But Kidani villas are newer and bigger.

I will DEFINITELY buy GFV. I won't risk not having the 11 month booking window. And rumors of GFV is one of the reasons we didn't buy more points last summer.

Delta changes their flight times often. Plus, I'd most likely have to fly from LaGuardia, and that's a not happening.

I agree that the food gets old quickly. That's one of the reasons we rent a car.

I haven't tried Teppan Edo. I have read great reviews.

I'm on the fence about Boma for breakfast. I like to save time and have breakfast in the room, unless it's a character breakfast. I've read nothing but great things about breakfast at Boma. But we don't eat a big breakfast at home and I think it may be a bit too much $$$ to not eat that much and not have characters. Decisions, decisions!

I'm attempting to make a list of possible restaurants today.

:rotfl2: We can agree to disagree for sure. :flower3: Maybe I will have to look at the red eye business again. Maybe it was because we had a stop in Hotlanta at 3:00 am that made it so miserable.

Link me to your new PTR when you start it? :thumbsup2

I'll have to live vicariously through your photos. I'm still pining for the GCV.

Fronteir did that to us on our flight to WDW the first time. Made them give us a full refund and we changed to Delta. Funny how we can all have such different experiences.

Boma looks good for breakfast. They have some casserole dishes that look so good. I say go for it!

Have you decided? What's your list?

:ccat: 44 days until 7 month booking!!! :ccat:

:donald: 78 days until ADRs!!! :donald:

Ok, let me restate that. A NON STOP red eye is a very very good thing to make the time change. 3am stop? BLEH. We are looking at one that is a 1am departure, noon arrival with one stop at around 6am (which, yeah, is 3am our time) but breaks it into 2 3 hour flights versus the 1 5 hour direct so it's not bad at all. I hate losing an entire day to fly east and even worse, the kids do not adjust to the time change at all. This way they are WIPED OUT at Florida bedtime and we make the switch.

Link me to your new PTR when you stated it? :thumbsup2

I will!

I'm still totally undecided. :upsidedow

We are looking at Kidani for 2 nights at the tail end of our trip...if flights pan out as they look like they might. I actually like the quiet but more importantly....extra bathroom!

:hyper: The week before vacation always drags. Tomorrow you can say, I'm going to Disneykand this month. :cool1:

I am still almost two weeks out. It is sooooo slow!:rotfl: But you're right!! That is a thrill already!!

I'm 8 months out and you'd think it was in 2 weeks. :rotfl2:

Are you all set to go? Kids squared away?

Pretty much. My kids are all set. My bff will take Kacy to school. The other two are home schooled so they are set. If they need anything Kacy can drive my van as long as my mom is along.

The red eye did NOT agree with your kids.

I started making my ADR list, but I need to work on it some more. I think we may try O'hana again.

Did you not like 'Ohana? We've been twice and lovesit. It's going to be very hard to not do. Also Tony's might be impossible to skip. 'Ohana is our traditional first night dinner. I'm replacing it with the Turf Clube this trip. Tony's is our last night dinner and not sure what I'm going to do about that.

What else is on your list?

That's great. You and Scotty can go and enjoy each others company without stressing over the kids.
