Very jealous about the treehouse. The boys are DYING to stay in one but after this trip, we aren't going to have enough for more than a couple of nights at best depending on what time of year we go and if we do that, the rest of the stay would be in a studio! I'm torn between SWW and July. I can't stand the point challenge of July but with school I have a hard time justifying more than 6 for SWW nights esp if Evan has end of course testing right when we get back. July may have to be it, like it or not.

If that's the case, unless I buy more points, no treehouse for us!

I have 7 points left for 2012. :rotfl2: I'm borrowed out baybee. :woohoo:  Spend 'em if you've got 'em and even if you don't. ;)

I fear we'll be canceling the THV altogether but booked them in case. DH and Gab prefer the traditional part of SSR. Chloe and Josh want the THV. I'm staying out of it. Im torn honestly. The points increase makes me think we should THV this year.

Is July really hot? I'm afraid this may be our last trip where the kids can miss so much school and summer may be our only warm option.

Sounds perfect. :goodvibes We never celebrate anniversaries on the right day  This year I got us tickets to Social Distortion. They play in May. Our anniversary is in August. Last year we bought the boat in July for our anniversary. Two years before that we bought DVC in May for our anniversary. It really let's DH off the hook as far as having to remember. ;)

Honestly we don't do much without the kids. Maybe an occasional movie or lunch out. This is huge. We haven't done anything on Valentines day since we were first married. We have done gifts but not gone out or anything.

Well if I spend too much of 2012, I can't go in 2013! :rotfl: If I could do THV this year, I would but honestly for the 5 of us, for just 2 nights, AKV is more appealing. If we do the mondo trip, it's 14+ people and a treehouse with cousins running around would be a blast and a half. BUT it will be in 2013 so...I might some rent points for this summer to make sure I am covered for 2013. I already did a combo of cash/points for Vero as the weekend points were ugly and cash was available and a great deal. We will see. Exploring all the options right now.

July is really hot. Late august is a lot cheaper but the rain and worse, the lightening sucks. We had so much pool closure time due to lightening it was the biggest downer of our 2010 trip. I can deal with the heat. That said, we will see how late July/early august is this year.

I just have a feeling, much as we'd all rather do May...it's gonna be July. Out of the 6 cousins they will be 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th. Missing 4-5 or more days of school really isn't wise..as nice as it sounds, esp at the end of the year. I suppose we could consider thanksgiving but there is still school to be missed.

Then again if there is a great add on while we are on the cruise :rolleyes1

Not.

UGH

That makes it even more special. You're going to have a great trip. It's so close now. :thumbsup2

I haven't rented points, is it an easy process? Do you rent from somewhere here?

I didn't realize it rained a lot in August. I first trip was in September and it was so humid and hot and it rained every day. I wouldn't do September again. It was back when free dining was a killer deal and our first trip. We had a great time but after going in May, I realized how cruddy the September weather was.

Add on points on the cruise or add on another cruise? Or both? pirate:

I haven't yeteither although I know a lot of people who do. I think it can be pretty easy, we will see. There is a rent/trade board and even transfers. I figure if I'm just renting one night, my risk is rather low. Renting a whole week with someone makes me a little nervous, as does transferring. There is a public site you can rent from but it goes a little higher pp. If it was just a couple, I'd just buy the one time use ones, seems easier. I did find someone with the exact amount I need, for a good price. We will see. All pending flights.

Oh I think July will likely be as bad as August in many ways. In average rainfall, it actually looks worse but more storms hit August and Sept. Honestly, we didn't mind the rain. Or the thunder. We DID mind the lightening that shut down the pools! I would love to go in April or May but ugh, we just realized that end of course exams will be happening right after mem day weekend for 4 of the 6 and since those are graduation requirements...seems like a trip is a pretty bad idea. Pres Week and Spring break are out due to soccer so unless we want to wait for new years of 2014 :scared1: it will have to be July. Or August. I figure July seems the lesser of evils but who really knows. I'm pushing for the 4th. We will see. I would love the holidays but man, 2014? That's crazy far away, all 6 boys might kill us. No can do 2013 NYE for a couple of reasons, not enough time for the clan to save up and my brother and his family are coming from Germany for 2 weeks so we can't really mess with that. If all 6 boys had the same spring break we could do it in April, but they don't so...:scared1: just as well I guess as it will be State Cup time for K. :(

I am going to do a dummy booking or 2 on the cruise but they will be just that. No way can we do a cruise and WDW in the same year since that would be a full WDW and IOA trip. This years trip was never meant to include WDW...I'm just sneaking in a day. It is unlikely that on board incentives will be good enough for an add on but you never know I guess. I think my challenge would be where would I want to add on as there is a number of different scenarios that skew my opinion on that on any given day! More likely I will look for a resale contract at some point but am going to get our feet wet first.

I swear every time I try to respond to my own thread, my iPad flashes. :headache: Looks like I'll be making a trip to the Apple store this weekend.

Michele, I'm so excited for your trip. :woohoo:

Cynthia, if you do rent, let me know who from and how it goes. David's seem very low risk but charges a few $ more per point which can add up fast. I've though about renting from a GCV owner to take advantage of the 11-8 month mark. Once the 7th month hits it's almost impossible to score there.

How many WDW days are you sneaking in? pirate:

Can you get your deposit back if you book a dummy cruise? Only having to out down 10% is a huge perk! :thumbsup2

That would drive me nuts and I would be visiting them for sure.

It's under warranty so they'll do what they need to but holy, I have these mega responses and poof, gone.

How's your night? Kids are finishing homework and then it's American Idol time.

I don't want her to work and lose her grants. Let alone her health care from Scotty's work. I would love it she had to work to learn to prioritize.

:ccat: 47 days until 7 month booking!!! :ccat:

:donald: 81 days until ADRs!!! :donald:

:stitch: 260 days until WDW!!! :stitch:

I had grants and worked part time. :confused3 She's only 18 right, this is her ungraded degree?

I will let you know if we rent. Right now I'm not moving on anything else until we book flights. Which is a nail biter but...I'll just have to deal with it. I'm now leaning towards not renting but who knows what will actually happen. Not for any reasons against renting though.

If I can sneak any in it will be 1-2 resort nights but just one park day.

Yes, you can get your deposit back. Dummy or real! :thumbsup2 Or just keep moving the date out...walking it. :rotfl:

Yes, she is. Hmm you have given me food for thought.

:goodvibes

How long will you wait before booking your flights? Some people book each way separate with good results. I'd never thought of it before. Have you?

Which park will you do???

I like the idea of walking it out, so you never lose money! :thumbsup2

We added a day so my deprived kids could have 10 full days! I'm a sucker. How about you?

Are you keeping your THV reservation? Or going with SSR?

Trying to figure out if we're flying in on August 11th or the evening before. We may just fly in Friday night and get settled. If we do that, I need to book something for the night before. There would be 5 of us (3 adults and 2 kids). I've tossed around the idea of just a value or mod for one night. Let's see what happens with airfare. That's the determining factor.

My brother, SIL, and niece booked airfare on SW and will be arriving a day earlier (August 17th). They're staying in a standard view AKL room for the night and then switching over to Kidani for 7 nights in a savanna view studio.

I can start booking ADRs in 2 weeks. So far, we know we're doing BOMA for dinner on the night my brother, SIL, and niece arrive since they'll be in Jambo House.
