You do!! And now I'm torn again between Jambo and Kidani but the extra bathroom and almost 200 sq feet is swaying me bad.

How are you? :goodvibes

Oh I hear the extra bathroom singing a siren song.

I am meh. How about yourself?

I'm okay. Michael is leaving for a major trip to Africa and I'm freaking the freak out as my 15 y/o would say.

What's going on girl? :goodvibes

::yes:: The third bathroom is singing a siren song. :lmao: I can't decide. I love the idea of being close to the bar and Mara and being able to go downstairs but the SVs at Kidani are supposed to have better views. :upsidedow

Oh wow. How long is Michael going to be gone? I would be freaking out too. I understand totally.

Not much, I think that maybe I am having a bit of back from trip depression.

The bathroom would win out for me. The getting ready in the morning is that much faster. To me that is a true plus.

He'll be gone for about 3 weeks. Watch for major FB freak out posts. :scared:

:goodvibes I'm sorry sweetie. That's the worst. Just start thinking about that November trip.

Well I have my own bathroom, it's the kids that have to share. But I am leaning towards it. I need to make a decision quickly. :surfweb:

DH mentioned Universal and Harry Potter land tonight. :scared1: Gab said shed go with him. :rotfl2: The rest of looked away.

Ooh three weeks wow. I'll be there to offer sympathy.

I'll be okay. I would be better but my daughters have been really pushing me well over my limit and I am the most patient person you will ever meet. I lost it bad because I had held it all in for so long. Scotty told me he wondered how long I would let them run over me. Well, we know what the limit is now.:sad1: I felt like the worst parent ever too.

I would love to see the Harry Potter stuff. But honestly, not enough to miss any Disney for it.:rotfl:

I don't know the specifics sweetie but your not a bad mom. You're a good mom. I read all the things you say about them and how involved you are. :goodvibes We all go through that and trust me, you are not alone. I'm here if you ever want to talk.

I won't miss Disney for HP either. No way! DH wants to go though so I'm researching a little. I'm totally green and lost.

Thank you Jenny.

I have a friend who did WDW and Harry Potter. If I can find the trip report would you like to have a link to it to give you an idea?

Thanks so much. I know what I'll be doing during tonight's bout of insomnia. ;) Off to look. I'm so excited but hope I don't like it. I could still add one final day on to the trip if Universal is a go for everyone but I've only got a week to decide. :hyper: :surfweb:

Good luck and sweet dreams!!

We spent 4 days at Universal on our Grand Gathering trip in 2010, staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. I am happy to answer any questions you might have. Tons of info in my TR and I think I did a summary but I'd have to go back and look.

We will definitely be going back on the next Grand Gathering trip, our question will be how many days and it we attempt it staying offsite or not. If you try to do it from offsite, some strategies are in order but in Oct it won't be nearly the issue it is during summer so probably not that big of a deal.

3 weeks in AFRICA?

Holy cats.

Pretty sure Sanaa has a bar. I know it's not Victoria Falls but.....just sayin! I assume the pool has one too but I am completely guessing there (just can't picture that it doesn't).

How many days are typical for Universal? And what's the diff between Universal and the Island place? :confused3 They'll have only one day, is it even worth it? Any and all info is appreciated :flower3:. I need to research and come up with a day itinerary for them, step by step.

Holy cats is right my friend! :scared1:

I need to get my AKV ducks in a row in about 6 days. Once Michael leaves I'll have plenty of time at night after the kids go to bed. :surfweb:

There are 2 parks, Islands of Adventure which is where Harry Potter is, and Universal Studios. Both are good parks in their own right.

I don't know that there is a typical universal trip. We've done it twice. In 2004 we did one day at IOA only and we were staying at an offsite house. It worked out great but that was pre-harry Potter. In 2010 we had 4 nights, 5 days but only did 3 days in the parks. We did non hopper tickets so it was 2 days at IOA and 1 day at Universal. In both cases though, it was so incredibly hot (August) we didn't put in full days for the 1st 2 park days.

Do I think it's worth it for a day? Depends on 2 things.

1. How big of a Harry Potter fan are they? If they are big fans...YES it is totally worth it. We loved loved loved loved it. Then again, we are pretty huge fans!

2. Are they thrill ride junkies? Both IOA and US have some of the best coasters, bar none. At IOA you've got the Hulk, TriWizard Challenge and Spiderman, some of the best rides ever plus of course the Forbidden Journey. Several wet rides that are a ton of fun as well.

US has RipRideRockit. We actually didn't make it on that one but there is a ton of other good things.

For me, one day, it would be IOA hands down and you can definitely put together a great touring plan for that.

If you need an afternoon break, the Lone Palm Airport in Margaritaville (which is where the Hemisphere Dancer...a giant seaplane now lives) has a great happy hour margarita 2 for 1 deal. It's a short walk from either park.

I like apples and I like oranges. It's ok to go to the Dark Side and it doesn't take a thing away from Disney to me. Totally different animals.

:rotfl:

Work. Not firefighting. ;) He and his buddy, that he does the MoHo print work for, are heading over for a new business venture. Long story. Crazy in fact. But very exciting.

Oh crap I was afraid of this. :rotfl2: They are coaster junkies for sure and like HP but not huge fans. But a friend of Michael's was the one who told him cool HP is. He just got back and said its awesome even for the non HP junkie.

At this point, it will DH and Gab, maybe Chloe and her buddy but Joshua is neither a coaster or HP fan so I'd stay with him at Disney. Darn. :cloud9:He's very funny with his coaster choices. He loves BTMRR, Space, Test Track, and RnR. He hates ToT and EE. EE I get as the backwards part is pretty trippy.

I'd have to agree, it's really really cool. Right now Jeff wants to go back to HP more than WDW and he's never even read the books, only seen the movies! LOL. If you have read the books it is cooler but certainly not necessary. I think even if you'd never seen the movies or read the books, you'd think it was cool. Does he like California Screamin'? I'd put Hulk and the TriWizard in that class.

FYI Dreams Unlimited has a package you can buy that includes 1 day park hopper tickets (they don't offer it as a non hopper) and includes transportation from your Disney resort and back. My BF just did it with her kids and was quite pleased with it, as did another DISer and her sister. The non driving options aren't all that great and while you could probably save a little with a town car or shuttle plus the 1 park base ticket only, it ended up seeming way more complicated.

Thanks for the Dreams Unlimited idea. I'm guessing it will be a $300 day for the two of them with food. That sound about right? I think what I might do is plan a Chloe/BFF day, a Michael/Gabby day, and then me and Joshua day. I'm sure I'll end up at Blizzard Beach. ;) The girls will too but I'll maybe see if I can drum up something special like an ADR at Boma or something for dinner for just the two girls. :surfweb:

He doesn't like Screamin either. I'd say it's something to do with outside coasters but Test Track is outside as is BTMRR but those are both relatively tame. It's the RnR that confuses me. :confused3 Luckily for him, Chloe's BFF is also a semi-chicken so he'll have someone to wait with. :cloud9:

:faint: $277 for the tickets with transfers for the two of them. Holy pricey! For one day! Looks like more of a $350 day before whatever she cons him into buying her.
