Got called an ******* for getting off bus before the ramp was down for scooters

Regardless of how one perceives policy, Disney does not care if somebody called you a name. Period. Putting that verbiage out there about to treat other guests is not to protect you. It is to protect them should something turn legal. It does not matter if he called 20 people a name. Disney is not going to do anything about it.

I personally do not cuss nor do I care to hear it, but some people just have a nasty mouth and that is just who they are. Some cultures also speak trashy because that is their culture. You just have to avoid it where you can and move on from them. At the end of the day, Disney is not going to control language. They allow people to wear disgusting things on shirts, shorts that are almost bikini bottoms, smoke in non-smoking areas, wear Heeleys in the park and more, all which are against their rules, yet they do not do anything to enforce it. I have watched CMs look, shake their head and walk right past it for the last 10 years or so.

Did you see my post above? I have let it go.

But regarding the other part of your post, if some dude is walking around magic kingdom cursing at 20 people or everyone they see, of course Disney will step in and do something about it. You seriously think Disney will want someone cursing at people over and over? To even think that would not be dealt with is ridiculous

Disney is not going to do anything if a guy calls 20 people a bad name randomly over the course of a week.

I have many, many trips under my belt. DVC owner. CM friends. I can tell you that Disney is not going to do anything about language unless it becomes aggressive. A person calling people names will be glossed over every single time unless it becomes disruptive or threatening/physical. Disney security is everywhere, they look like us, regular parks guests. You cannot pick your nose or kiss your spouse without Disney knowing about it. Nothing escapes them; the eyes are everywhere.

I have a friend who works in the MK. She was called a fat stupid "C"-word, told she looked like as much of a "B" as she was acting and Disney management simply told the irate male guest to either escort himself out or find a different place to watch the parade, because he could not stay where he was was. Another CM friend was called a "D"-word and his fellow-CM was called an unfriendly slur word for not allowing his special needs kid to skip the line to see Peter Pan. A manager came right over and pulled the guy aside. Spoke to him for about 2 minutes and the guy walked away on his own, with his family. Calling you an ****** out of your earshot really is not that big of a deal in comparison.

I think you may be have the idea that being in Disney means everybody has to play nice and it will be enforced. That simply is not true.

The basis for this entire thread made so sense to me from the start -- Not sure how OP determined the 14 were or were not part of a VIP tour while waiting at the HS bus depot and I don't think that makes any difference regardless. If they stated there was no room on the bus that would either mean that they were living up to the name they called you, or making a very rude comment of some sort. Regardless - Disney busses can certainly hold a lot of guests - and it isn't up to those guests as to who boards. It just shows the person making this declaration is a jerk. As for getting off the bus - I have been an ECV user for decades. I use the bus system a lot. I have never seen a scooter get off first. Once the able bodies de-bus the driver shuts the door, gets the key for the ramp, kneels the bus, lowers the ramp and off goes the scooter. The ONLY exception is if someone is asked to move temporarily to give the scooter room to exit - and that person would remain on the bus. So that is part 1 - the situation itself makes no sense. Part 2 is that even if another guest called you (or anyone) a mean name - that is not something that WDW cast members would deal with. IF you were THREATENED or in some way felt threatened then that would be a different situation completely. I realize that OP has come to terms with this and it is over - but the expectation that CMs should intervene seems like somethin that is way out of the realm of what they should be doing

Perfect that’s all I was looking for. You described that Disney does react in these situations.

They told everyone, then on the bus they were talking loudly about it the whole time. My wife even spoke to the grandpa in the EVC about it for a little. Most of the time people who got VIP tours don’t take a bus right after

Actually, that poster only showed Disney taking minimal action and only when it involved a CM. Guest language directed towards another guest doesn’t get action unless the situation escalates further.
Well maybe Disney should expect people to treat guests the same way they expect people to treat cast members. Is that too much to ask?

Hello all. Yesterday around 4pm my family and I were on a bus going from Hollywood studios to Polynesian. As we were waiting to get on the bus and there was apparently this group of 14 who just finished a VIP tour who thought they were better than everyone else, they told us that there wasn’t enough space for us (there was enough space all the kids had seats and only a few guys stood me being one of them)

On the bus was fine, but after we got to the poly apparently this group decided that the scooters are suppose to get off first, and the cast member apparently thought so too, but don't they normally get off last? Basically one of the members in the party of 14 told me to wait until the ramp is out before leaving after their party, I told them I didn’t need the ramp and got off. After I left he apparently called me an ******* which i didn’t hear, but my wife did. I wear a kippa too so I'm at a heighten state of alert. Is this normal Disney behavior now?

I reported this to a cast member and I met with Disney security. I then followed up later but they didn't really do much or seem to care all that much. It was extremely off putting and ruined the magic and still is ruining the magic. I’m not really used to having strangers call me such vile names and Disneys response hasn’t really been great at all.
I use an ECV at WDW. I am always first on and last off. My husband insists on joining the regular line and not boarding with me. He gets off before me. Sorry about your experience.

Sure they want everyone to treat each other respectfully. But yes, it is too much to ask them to do anything about guest comments to random other guests unless the situation escalates. They only intervene for a CM when it impacts the CMs ability to do their job.

You are still missing the point. A CM was called much worse than you were and the CM told them they could leave or move elsewhere. They were not reprimanded for their language, they did not receive a "talking to", they were simply told to move along or leave the park (on their own) if they were unhappy. Not because somebody tattled to security, but because they would not move. They were in a place they were not supposed to be.

So what? You got called an AH. Are you one? No? If not, let it go. What comes out of people's mouths in those situations reveals more about them than it does the person they are talking about.

But, the more you post, we can see you are easily offended and want "justice" when somebody hurts your feelings. It is not going to happen in this entitled society.

I'm confused. Did the bus driver ask you to wait until the scooter was off loaded? Did the driver indirectly asked you to wait? In other words was he in the process of deploying the ramp and you ran ahead? In either case the comment should be considered educational; you were a jerk.

Did the guest ask you to wait? You didn't have to wait. The guest called you a jerk, different wording. You thought Disney security should investigate. I think I can count the number of posters who agree with that using less then one finger.

Someone wants to rush ahead of me to exit a bus. Maybe I'm naive. I'll assume they need to rush to the bathroom or someone is having a meltdown.

It happens at multi stop resorts every day.
If the bus is full, people have to get off to make a way for the wheelchair. The wheelchair gets off, people get back on. If there are people getting off not in a wheelchair, they get off and go about their day, then the wheelchair gets off. Nobody is standing around on a full bus stepping on one another trying to let the wheelchair get off first. Been doing it at Disney for over 20 years.

Yep. I’m a bus driver/DVC owner and guest for many years and I can tell you that I’ve loaded and unloaded scooters and wheelchairs in packed buses. The guests need to make room but it happens. I’m not convinced anyone got called names for exiting a bus.

Uhh being told “to move along or leave the park” is what I was referring to when I said a “talking too.” not sure what elaborate thing that was expected. Just something to reference that type of behavior isn’t tolerated like occurred in the post I was responding too.

the bus driver didn’t ask to wait, guess you don’t know many people then

Why would I make this up?

It’s also different when CMs/security are hearing it first hand vs being reported. Looking at it from WDW’s view, how do they respond without potentially causing more trouble? They’re have to make sure not to accidentally confront the wrong person, they don’t even have proof of what was said, and if the interaction was already over anyway, now here they are possibly helping to get it escalating again. Disney's been doing parks a long time. Letting adults cool themselves off is probably best for all concerned if the adults can muster it themselves.

Your opening post assumes these people were looking down on everyone else because they took a VIP. Maybe they were. I don’t know. But as an old lady with alot of life experience I have learned it usually takes two to tango. Sometimes people don’t behave properly at WDW. It’s rare though, at least anything egregious. I’ve seen many times where things could’ve gone wrong, like strollers banging ankles, it escalates for a minute then the strangers bickering decide this is dumb and stop. They’re realize it’s not just them, it’s ruining the harmony for everybody around them. Visitors get hot, tired, stressed, etc. They might lose the plot for a moment. The best response imho is give them a chance to collect themselves and remember where they are, where none of us are enemies, and we all have coming to the happiest place on earth in common.
