Kia Sorento or other 7/8 Passenger SUV Owners??

We have a Chevy Traverse and love it. :lovestruc Ours seats 7 (with captains chairs) but standard seating is 8.

I have a fully loaded Honda Pilot, love it and was worth the price!

Me too - love love love!

OP, I partially negotiated my price online. I contacted the "internet sales manager" at several dealerships (their websites may have an email link or may have you fill out a form) and told them exactly what I was looking for and said I wanted their best out the door price. I wouldn't pick a dealership based on price alone, because service is important too, but the dealership I like and have used before happened to give the best price. I went in and finished the deal in person, since I had a trade-in.

Whatever you personally decided on please just do your research online - search the make/model and problems. Check out TSB's online for recalls & complaints.

On that note, we bought a brand new Ford Expedition - 2007 right off the lot and I DO NOT recommend getting ANY Ford with a 5.4L engine between the years of 2004 - 2009. We are fighting with Ford to uphold their warranty as our engine is making a tapping noise and they do not want to allow a claim, even though we have had 2 dealers & 3 mechanics pinpoint the problem.

There are tons of complaints out there about these engines and even the dealership agrees, ask questions about the warranties & service - as Ford requires a Field Inspector to approve all work, they do not allow their mechanics to diagnose & repair.

Good Luck!!

I have a Chevy Tahoe and it is perfect for our needs. I also have 2 kiddos and it is great especially when we travel, have a long day at the ball field, have shopping to do, etc. Its also nice for each to have a friend and be in their own row. Plenty of space and a good, solid vehicle that has lasted. We live in the country and drive a lot and have only ever had to change the oil and replace tires.

We just bought a Dodge Journey, it has replaced the Chrysler Pacifica. We love it. It rides like a car and it has a third row seat. I highly recommend the journey. good luck in your quest, it only took us 4 months for my husband to finally find the car that was to his likings.

Glad to hear this! We're signing papers today for a new Dodge Journey with the 3rd row seating. We test drove them and found them to feel really comfortable. We're trading in our Jeep Liberty at almost 8 years old. I loved my Jeep, but looking for a little more room this time around. We tend to stick to Chrysler products since we get family discount (dad is retiree and sis still works for them). :thumbsup2

Sorry to butt in but I was curious how is the gas mileage? Kia especially....:goodvibes

have a 2008 Kia Sorento, got it almost 2 years ago as year old model and got a super deal. Looked online and then when I saw this price I jumped...we have a Kia Sedona that we got in 2004 for a great price too and love that.
I think the milage we get on the 2008 Sorento on the road is like 24mpg, we don't drive in too much traffic since we live in NH so can't help you on that mileage . But so far no problems with either Kia.

We have a 2011 Kia Sorento. We bought it the week of Thanksgiving.

It tells the average MPG of that tank of gas- and lets you know when you're getting your most economical fuel usage. It's sorta funny because I'm always a little disappointed when I'm driving and it's not economical :rotfl:
We've only ever driven it in the city so far and it averages around 17 MPG.

Anyway, DH loves it! We bought it to replace his 04 Ford Ranger when we had our second son. Needed to be able for each of us to take a kid with us or whatever.

I really enjoy driving it, too, it's surprising that it doesn't drive like a tank to me. I have a Jeep Compass and the Sorento is definitely larger in comparison but I don't really notice it.

I wanted the 3rd row of seats, DH didn't because he didn't want to lose the tire. He won since it was being bought for him.

I sat in the 3rd row of the one he drove and while I don't think I could do a very long trip back there it was fine. There was almost no leg room, I'm 5'7".... but I could definitely sit back there around town or just an hour or so. But you have pretty much no trunk storage when that 3rd row pops up!

We got a $1k rebate, $1270 off the price, $1k "competitive" something or another because we owned a Jeep (they just needed a copy of the registration card) and they gave us $10,800 for DH's Ranger. So we financed about $12k and don't regret it at all.

DH more misses having a vehicle with an excuse not to take a kid with him.

I have an 03 Acura MDX with a 3rd row of seats. It has 140k miles on it and never gives me any trouble. It's the best car I have ever owned.

I drive a Chevy Tahoe and I love it!

I could never drive a car again........I feel like I'm so high up, great visibility and I don't feel so small next to semis on the interstate.

Drives wonderful in winter weather....a HUGE bonus for living in Wisconsin.

I have an Acura MDX with 3rd row seating(2004). The 3rd row folds down when you don't need it. It's plenty roomy and doesn't drive like a truck. Very comfy with heated seats and DVD player for the kids. Most people are surprised about the 3rd row as it doesn't look big from the outside. A nice car (imo).

I agree!

We've had our Traverse for 6 months  it! Ours also seats 7, 3rd row folds completely flat. Love having Onstar and having the phone for the vehicle, cell phones don't always get service. You can also get lower insurance rates with having Onstar.
Lots of extras, side air bags, 10 boise speakers, air controls in back, radio in back so passengers can hear different station than driver with ear buds. Back up camera which is great for seeing small children, toys etc behind vehicle. sensor that beeps to let you know if you are too close to anything backing up. Plus lots more features I haven't mentioned.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe - purchased it new in 2004. I LOVE IT. I have had many many vehicles in my life (Chevy Cavalier, Oldsmobile Delta 88, 2 Jaguars, 2 full size Customized Chevy Vans, 4 Chevrolet Astro conversion vans, a Mercury Cougar, Ford Thunderbird, Cadilliac) but the Tahoe has been the most dependable/comfortable of all of them.
