We are actually planning on using our points at Keystone for next Christmas. I grew up going out to Keystone every Christmas and am trying to start that tradition with my family. It has been probably 10 years since I have been back, but we loved it when we used to go. It was very family oriented. Then with the connection to the other mountains (Breckenridge, Arapahoe, Cooper Mtn, and now Vail), there was always something for anyone in the family. They have shuttles that can take you to any of these other mountains or if you have a car with you, they are short drives (45 max to Vail).
But the big lake around the Keystone Lodge was fantastic for ice skating and they also have a sleigh ride to a small hut for dinner. The hut has no electricity or running water. They have a roaring fire going and someone playing guitar. They greet you with schnapps (sp?) (which we loved as teenagers) to warm you up. It is a great experience and not to be missed. We did it during Xmas time, but I think it runs all winter long. These are just a couple of the things that you can do in the area.
And the proximity to the airports is nice. You can either fly into Vail (most major airlines fly there, but I think United has direct flights there from major cities) or Denver. From Denver it is only a 1.5 - 2 hr drive.
We haven't been since they have built up the River Run area, but we have only heard good things about it. We can't wait to go.
Oh, and the skiing is pretty darn good too!
