Has anyone used their points for keystone? or anyplace else in Colorado. I want to go skiing in January & would like to get some input from anyone who has gone to colorado using their points, I know that Keystone is part of the consierge collection where the others are not. If anyone has gone to colorado I would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks Dawn (new to the DVC)

We've stayed at Grand Timber Lodge this summer in Breckenridge. Very nice resort. The rooms were big, marble countertops, the grounds were excellent. One drawback the carpet in the rooms was awful.

They are a ski in-out resort. Exteremely close to one of lifts on peak 8.

We are actually planning on using our points at Keystone for next Christmas. I grew up going out to Keystone every Christmas and am trying to start that tradition with my family. It has been probably 10 years since I have been back, but we loved it when we used to go. It was very family oriented. Then with the connection to the other mountains (Breckenridge, Arapahoe, Cooper Mtn, and now Vail), there was always something for anyone in the family. They have shuttles that can take you to any of these other mountains or if you have a car with you, they are short drives (45 max to Vail).

But the big lake around the Keystone Lodge was fantastic for ice skating and they also have a sleigh ride to a small hut for dinner. The hut has no electricity or running water. They have a roaring fire going and someone playing guitar. They greet you with schnapps (sp?) (which we loved as teenagers) to warm you up. It is a great experience and not to be missed. We did it during Xmas time, but I think it runs all winter long. These are just a couple of the things that you can do in the area.

And the proximity to the airports is nice. You can either fly into Vail (most major airlines fly there, but I think United has direct flights there from major cities) or Denver. From Denver it is only a 1.5 - 2 hr drive.

We haven't been since they have built up the River Run area, but we have only heard good things about it. We can't wait to go.

Oh, and the skiing is pretty darn good too! :teeth:

We have and the good things you've heard are true.

The Keystone Lodge at the lake is great (especially if you're into skating or hockey like we are) but you can't beat the short walk to the gondola from River Run.

If you go try a late dinner at either the Alpenglow Stube or Der Fondue Chessel. You take a 30 minute gondola ride into the Colorado highcountry just to get there. The ambiance is unsurpassed and the food is fantastic. Just make sure and go easy on the wine, you'll be dining at 11,500 feet and it'll go straight to your head! (At least that's what someone told me, that night is still a little fuzzy :rolleyes1 .)

I've stayed at Keystone resort, it's lovely. Can't remember which building, it was awhile ago and in the summer - there was still lots to do.

We are considering going to Keystone next ski season, but our plan is to rent some points and rent a condo ... probably off of vrbo.com.

A page I've found most helpful is this one which has a map of the River Run area, so you'll know where the different buildings are located. Even if you're going to book via II thru DVC, this would be helpful, because they rent several of the same buildings.

Enjoy Keystone! We've been once before and really liked it!

(Click on the link to "Map of Keystone," then click on "River Run Village." You'll get to see pictures of a lot of the accomodations, also.)
