Have the lumberjack show booked as an excursion through Disney. Can you meet up at the actual building instead of meeting the group onboard and then proceeding to the show as a group like a traditional excursion scenario works ?

We would like to explore the town before the show and would prefer not to have to walk back to the ship.

The venue for the lumberjack show is a short walk from the pier. I wouldn't book it through DCL. I would just do it on my own and purchase tickets separately. Probably cheaper!

Agreed, the only reason to book it through DCL is if you really want to see the character they include (I think it's Goofy) in the show.

We booked ours directly on the lumberjack website and were able to select the show with the Disney characters 😊 https://alaskanlumberjackshow.com/
We picked up our tickets up at the cashier inside the store then spent the day doing other things and came back for our afternoon show.

Yep we did exactly the same. Booked online and picked them up 15 mins before .

I'm not concerned who I buy the tickets from, but more interested in knowing if when you take a Disney excursion, are you required to meet up before hand on the ship, or can you just go ahead and use the tickets and go to the venue yourself??

We did this excursion through DCL several years ago. When we did it our excursion group wasn't the only group doing it. It was very busy/crowded at the show. We had to line up at a specific place and then we were let in. I don't remember if we were given a wristband for this excursion or not. We always do DCL excursions. Sometimes we've been given wristbands for the excursion when we check in for it on the ship. I would be concerned that the lumberjack show employee wouldn't let you in if you didn't have a wristband showing you are part of the excursion group.

The ship is docked right there so it isn't really a walk back. Maybe 5 mins...if that! So wouldn't be too much of an issue to stroll back to the ship if you had to meet there.

We booked through Disney the night before we ported in Ketchikan. We did not have to go back to the ship to meet up with the excursion. There is a line right outside the venue, which is quite close to the ship. I don't remember any wristbands or stickers. Just tickets. I was happy we did not have to go back to the ship just to meet and then get back off. The savings in booking it on your own for our family, two adults, 2 older teens, was probably $20 more to book with Disney.

Ladyof the tramp:

When did you go on the Alaskan cruise ?? Tickets vs wristbands ?? "Wonder" which system they currently use ??

Thanks Ladyofthetramp.

Still wondering what the more current method is. Tickets or wristbands ?? Meet onboard or met at the lumberjack building.

Anyone able to help ??
