Does anyone know the cost of the kennels at the fort? We are thinking about bringing our Yorkie with us on teh next trip. What happens if you only need to put them in the kennels a few hours each day while you are at the parks? Has anyone used the kennels? The thought of locking our Sassy in a cage bothers me a little. Thanks, Kim

Thats Tim5055s site, isnt it? He keeps it very current and up to date. Alot of sites have such old outdated info, that ya cant really depend on them for much.

What we do is that we have a couple of the spring loaded child gates and put them (two large Yorkies 10 and 12 lbs) across the hall in the middle of the trailer and put the dog's beds in there when we are gone. It gives them like a 8' hall section and all they do when we are gone is sleep anyway. I can't remember what you have for an RV but you might look into something like we do. We also have one of those 7 or 8 sided pet pens that collapse that we always use when we leave home for more than a 10min trip to the Giant and they just feel more secure in an enclosed area. You might be surprised that a normal sized Yorkie (4 or 5 lbs) would be very happy in one of the larger dog crates. Both of ours seem to love enclosed spaces where they can curl up with something around them maybe for security of the inbred burying/ratting environment. You might even get a good sized cardboard box and but a hole out in it and put their bed in it at home and see if it will use it ... you might be surprised.

Hello - We used the kennel on our last visit. If the dog stayed overnight, it was $18 a day. If you just want to use them during the day, it was $15 a day. This includes two walks and two feedings. You can also pay for extra snuggle time, walk time or other ala cart services. These should be accurate rates, as we just got back about two weeks ago.

The people at the kennel were very nice and knew our puppy by name on our second visit. They seem like nice people.

Hope this helps!!

Years ago, before they allowed pets at Fort Wilderness, we kenneled our Yorkie at their kennels. To be honest, we were miserable and spent all our time at the kennel entertaining the dog. Now we leave them in the motorhome with the TV on. They are perfectly happy. If they make a mess (which isn't often), we clean it up and go on about our business.
Love to take our babies.:lovestruc

We bring our two yorkies Roxy 6lbs and Killer 4lbs and my daughters maltese 8lbs (thats on there heavy days) they all stay in the MH we leave the TV on for them (disney channel of course) along with the A/C they seem to enjoy staying in the MH. That is why we travel by MH to take them with us. All 3 of them are litter boxed trained so no need to walk them. We travel in a 40' DP. We only kenneled them on one trip this past summer at the Grand Canyon cause we had them groomed and the lady kept them for the day for us, she came to our site and picked them up and when we got back we called her and she brought them back to our site.
