We are thinking about going to KSC we went about 6 years ago but the kids were real little then and we didn't see much. I hear it is a pretty vast "attraction' and it would take 2 days to see it all. We will have just one day.Given that what are your opinons on what we should see/do and what tickets options we should get? Thanks for the input :surfweb:

Hi!

I visited KSC this past July. DH and I haven't been there since we were both kids but decided it was time to take DS (7) who wants to be an astronaut when he grows up.

We only spent one day there but wound up purchasing the Annual pass with the hopes of returning around Christmas time.

There is a lot to see for sure. The decision to spend more than one day is dependant upon the ages of your kids and how much time you want to devote to all the movies and exhibits.

One thing we found interesting was the Meet an Astronaut talk. My son was bored out of his mind at the talk (lots of technical stuff) but was swooning when he got his picture taken with the astronaut.

Have you checked out the KSC website? There is good information there and it might help answer some of your questions.

There was a LOT to see. We got there in the morning, walked around for a little while and then got on one of the tour buses. Once you get on that bus, plan to be out for awhile!

We left the main center around 3 without ever having gotten to see any of the IMAX movies or meet any astronauts. We did the astronaut Hall of Fame and one simulator up the road.

If it hadn't been almost an hour drive, we would have gone back again for a 2nd day to see some of the movies and see some of the exhibits we missed.

DH found it much more interesting than I did. The technical stuff bored me to tears, but he found it thrilling. :)

I know these are totally different experiences so its a crazy question. We are taking the Disney cruise and we are flying in one extra day before the cruise. Trying to decide weather to do a disney park or kennedy space center. My ds5 and dd8 have been to the parks a couple years ago but don't remember much. Don't want to wear them out before the cruise and we only have 1 day. Do you think Kennedy would hold their interest and be fun for them or should we just do disney?

We went this October and really loved it! We did the Lunch With An Astronaut and DD5 was just beside herself when she got to meet a real astronaut. :goodvibes She also wants to be an astronaut and the whole KSC experience helped cement that dream for her.

As an adult, I found it to be an incredible place - a real slice of American history that you just can't get anywhere else. There's tons to see there, Imax films, simulators.... but what wowed me the most was just seeing the places I'd previously only seen on TV. The launch pads, the shuttle building, the track for the crawler, the Apollo command center that's fully intact! Loved it!!!

We're already planning to go back next year! We didn't plan enough time for the Hall of Fame last time so we can't wait to do that. It's such an easy drive from WDW, if your kids (or you!) have an interest in space it's a must-see!

My oldest has the great interest in space since he was a preschooler. He wants to work for NASA probably an astronaut but NASA anyway. Sounds like the hall of fame is a good option and I would like him to do the talk with an astronaut as well i know he would love that so it looks like I will have to go with the maximum ticket and plan specifically what we want to do so we can fit as m uch in as we can. I will pass on the bus tour even though it is informative.

There really use to not be a lot there in the old days. I went to space camp there back in 1992. I went back about 4 years ago and they have really turned that place into a viable attraction. there ar elot more exhibits attractions and displays. It's worth the trip.

We have had annual passes for two years and still haven't seen the Imax movies! We like seeing all the "stuff." We go out on the bus tour first thing (we think the food is better at the Saturn V center and plan on having lunch there). If you get the all-access pass that includes the Astronaut Museum, it's open an hour after KSC closes.
