Keeping Up Appearances while in the heat on vacation!!!!

Geez, I use blush and a light lipstick while at the parks and that is it. Between the heat and the suntan lotion I don't bother.

I would just do that, but i'd scare the kids...

bump, still needing a glare knock down,

I go really cheap while on vacation.
I use good old Aqua net hairspray, the white and pink can. The same kind I've used since I was 13.(Hey I'm from Jersey, home of the big hair)
For foundation, I use my good old Covergirl. One that's shine free.
For tanner, I sware by endless summer. But use lotion first, or you will have dark knees, elbows, etc...
You can get all of this for about 12 dollars.
good luck!

Kiss Me! Mascara is fantastic. It is the only mascara I've ever used that hasn't left me looking like a raccoon at the end of the day.

It actually forms little tubes around your eyelashes so when you do take it off it looks like little eyelashes on you fingers, but it's only the mascarqa tubes. Only takes water and rubbing to remove it, but you can even wear it swimming and it won't budge unless you rub your eyes a lot.

You girls have any suggestions for dark eye circles?? I always feel like I need to wear a lot of coverage due to this problem, and don't think the BE would work for me because of it...any hints??

Foundation - I starting using MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 about a month ago, applied with a foundation brush, and I really love it. I have oily, breakout prone skin and this is the only foundation that doesn't disolve or discolour by the end of the day on me. I tried a sample of Estee Lauder Double Wear, but on me it didn't last as long as the MAC one and the best colour for me wasn't quite right. I haven't tried the mineral foundations. By the way, the MAC foundation is $30 Canadian. When you use a foundation brush you need to use less than with a sponge, because it doesn't "suck up" the foundation like a sponge does. Also, the MAC foundation gives great coverage and I use less concealer now.

I don't use hair spray or self-tanners, so I can't help there.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for covering dark circles. Wish I could help. I just wanted to add that I would never use the very light coverup many women use. I don't even know what it's called, but I've seen lots of women with make up on & underneath their eyes they have a light (almost translucent) cover up. IMHO, this is not a good look. I think over applying a matching coverup would look much better than that. They can be beautiful women, but all you notice when looking at them is the half circle under their eyes.

For mineral makeup, I like everyday minerals. I think it covers better than Bare Escentuals and it's cheaper too. They have a free sample kit, you just pay like $3-4 shipping. They have different formulations - the intense (I think?) is great for oily skin.

I know what you mean about wanting to look decent for pictures at Disney. I'm a mom of 3 too and probably 90% of the pictures I'm ever in are from vacation so I hate to look like a greasy blob! The past 3 years we've gone in the spring though, so I haven't had to deal with really bad heat/humidity.

All right moms, i'm a mother of three and i have 20 minutes to get myself ready for the day, once ready, i don't have time to re-arrange, re-brush or re-apply anything.....help please with:

a foundation make up that covers well, doesn't run or disappear with sweat, doesn't look cakey on, doesn't settle into fine lines and DOES NOT COST A FORTUNE....

I didn't read the replies, but I use Clinique. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than what I could buy elsewhere. But, I find that I use less, so I think it evens out in the end. The coverage is excellent, it doesn't bother my sensitive skin, and I usually only reapply if I'm going out for the evening (which, with 2 kids, doesn't happen often, lol).

This thread has inspired me. I am almost 40 years old and barely ever wear make-up. I bought the physician's formula mineral powder, compact and eyeshadow set at BJs for $14.99 and then the pf mineral blush (around $10). I put it on yesterday just to take the kids to the local high schools production of High School Musical. It was so easy to use and my DH & kids thought I looked really nice so I am going to try to wear it on the days I leave the house.

Awww  Thats so nice- I cant leave the house without a little makeup. Mostly to cover my dang freckles

Hi I agree with go as natural as can be... between the heat, the water rides etc...I have crazy( I do mean crazy) curly hair. Think Michael Jackson the early years- I use some sauve extra hold gel and that seems to keep the mane in place with all that wonderful Florida humidity If you can pull it up or back even better-mine can't go either way and I can not wear a hat so jealous of those cap wearers
Olay of Olay( a little pricey) 18.99 has a great moisturizer, sunblock Total Effects it has a tint so you can have a little color while still getting some spf
I know some people need mascara or they feel totally naked but with the sunglasses and all I think you will be happier without.
everyone is beautiful in Disney

Know what you mean about the freckles, it seems like as i get older they don't make me look younger, they look more like age spots!!

I just bought the tan towels self tanner from HSN, and it's really great stuff! I'm pretty pale and freckled, and EVERY self-tanner I've tried has turned me orangish. I used tan towels on my legs though and they came out the same color as the natural tan I had started on my arms, but a little darker! I highly recommend it. It's not really cheap, but definitely not expensive, especially for the results you get! http://www.hsn.com/cnt/prod/default.aspx?webm_id=10001132&web_id=1695937&ocm=sekw

I love my Bare Minerals. I usually just put "Bisque" (concealer) on the spots I want to conceal.
As far as hairspray goes--I only use hair gel. I have long, thick, and curly hair. I just rinse my hair w/conditioner add hair gel (LA Looks) and let it air dry. It does not frizz up down here in (very humid) Louisiana with hair gel. Without the hair gel my hair looks like a frizz bomb.:scared1:
I don't do self tanners so I can't help you there.:confused3
For vacation I won't be wearing any make-up out in the parks. Maybe just a little lip gloss, but that's about it. (No, I don't have flawless skin). Just too much heat/sweating to wear any.
I will put a little make-up on when we go out in the evening to eat.

I'm getting ready to go to disney again, and still need a few pointers from any glam mom out there, you get up beautiful and go ladies just don't understand................there are many of us, at least i think, that wake up looking like sully, though less colorful, from Monsters Inc.

Also, those of you using bare minerals or a mineral makeup....how do you keep it from winding up in your bra or points south when you sweat? my one experiment with bare minerals was horrible, streaked everywhere when mother nature decided to turn my "internal" heating system on............

a hairspray that holds like concrete but doesn't build up like white paint in your hair, and DOES NOT COST A FORTUNE

a mascara that makes you have mile long lashes that doesn't run (btw, love that song, men and mascara always run, teehee) removes easily and DOESNT COST A FORTUNE

a self tanner that makes you look tan, sexy, hot, etc. that also looks real, doesn't run and lasts a while, when you are as white as Casper the Ghost...........

and again, DOES NOT COST A FORTUNE.........

thanks in advance!!!

I solved the problem by not wearing any makeup ...probably less than 5 times in the last 7.5yrs since I've been married! :thumbsup2

My hair is on the curlier side, so instead of hair spray I use Garnier's Fructis Spray Gel. Works great!

For tanning I vote "Mystic Tan". You get in a booth for under 30 seconds (buy the $1 nose plug, you'll be glad you did), it sprays you and 8 hrs later you are tan. I'm VERY pale and it works like a charm everytime. Just make sure you dry off REALLY well when you get out - that keeps you from streaking. I used to use Lancome's self tanners, which I like, but this is just too easy.
