Keeping an eye on Tropical Weather 2024

If flooding rains come to central Florida, hopefully not, what do they do with the animals at AK and AKL? Of course worried for everyone, but I always worry about the animals.

Please stay safe everyone. And your pets too.
WDW is designed to flood, the waters will be routed elsewhere. Some animals stay inside during major storms but some are actually happier riding out the storms outside. Disney will not let any of them get hurt, don’t worry!

Am I reading this right that the storm is projected to stay at hurricane strength through its whole pass of FL?
At this moment in time yes, projected to hit as a strong cat 2 and emerge as a cat 1.

Keep in mind those actual strengths are usually 5 to 10 miles out from the eye, then it goes weaker further out from the eye.

Keep in mind that they are predicting winds of 110, and 111 is where a category 3 begins. Also, the barometric pressure is predicted to be 946, which is a low cat 4. This could strengthen just like Helene and plow through central Florida. I am already looking at out of state hotels. I am not going to sit in the direct path of a possible cat 4.

My friend, “it’ll be fine, the weather changes every day.” 😫

I was able to snag something fun for us Tuesday afternoon indoors, but I’m worried about Wednesday. Here’s hoping for the best, and of course for the state as a whole. I don’t mean to sound so self focused with this!

Must be nice to have that option. My husband had a massive stemi heart attack on 9/20 followed by quadruple bypass surgery on 9/23. He's only been home less than a week & can barely stand up & walk to the bathroom to pee. No family or relatives or close friends down here. Guess we'll just pray a lot 😞. I've really just HAD IT with everything right now.

We are leaving MCO in Wednesday night. Do you think it would be wise to see if I can leave on Tuesday?

I was just looking at Mike’s Weather Page and it said tropical storm force winds quite possibly will be felt on Tuesday, if I understood his map.

Thanks for your input. You would think I would understand the maps since I live in Houston. I just don’t want to get stuck here and take a room that someone in need might need. I just just checked my airline and they are have not said anything yet. Usually they will allow free changes. I’ll just wait till tomorrow to decide

I haven’t seen any forecasts that are predicting a cat 4. Are you in central Florida?

There are not any at this point. @fla4fun is just looking at the max wind speeds and a projected low barometric pressure. It is simply too early to have any idea. The cone still covers the entire peninsula of Florida.

Just as a minor note about newspapers in shoes, the ink will come off and get on everything. Ask me how I know! Packing newsprint without print works great

Latest update now has it as a major hurricane at landfall:
