Keep YC or switch to WL?

OK, I need some resort advice. I have a 5-night stay booked at Yacht Club for July. I have been trying to add a 6th night, but the room category I have is not available for the extra night. I have never stayed at YC before. Wilderness Lodge has availability for all six nights. I have stayed at WL, and so far it is my favorite WDW resort.

I don't want to split six nights between both resorts (3 and 3), because I'll be at CR for four nights before my YC stay begins. However, I currently have a 1-night stay booked at a DTD hotel for my 6th night. So here's my question:

Do I keep the 5 nights at YC and the 1 night at DTD, or to I switch to WL for all six nights? Will I regret such a change? Like I said, I love WL, but have never stayed at any Epcot resort. The idea of walking to Epcot and/or taking a boat there and to DHS has been appealing. But WL is always appealing as well.
Help!! :headache:

The Yacht and Beach Club is my favorite resort on property, and I've stayed at all Deluxe Resorts aside from WL and AKL. I LOVE being able to walk through the International Gateway. I live close to DL, and go there often, so MK is actually the park I go to the least when I'm in DW so MK resorts are not my personal top priority. There is also a boat that takes you to HS. Talk about convenient!

Keep your YC reservation since you've never stayed there and July will be a great time to take advantage of Stormalong Bay. For your 6th night, instead of going off property to a DTD hotel, find another resort ON property. This makes baggage transfers much easier. And if you're using DME, you won't be able to use it from a DTD hotel.

If it was in the budget, I would make the 6th night at AKL and just hang out at the resort.

I have stayed at both WL and YC. I love both these resorts for different reasons.
WL - I love the resort design, layout and taking the boat to MK
YC - I love the location - every evening we walked to Epcot, HS or Boardwalk. (The night we decided to pop over to HS for a quick bite we managed to snag a table out side at the Brown Derby Lounge not something that would happen spur of the moment staying at WL) and Stormalong Bay really is the best pool at Disney.
The Epcot area resorts are now on our split stay plan for future visits. We just loved the location and being able to walk to "everything" - or at least it felt like we had the world at our finger tips.

Since you have already stayed at WL I would recommend staying YC this trip. Keep trying for that extra night at YC.

I would keep the YC for the 5 days! You will love it there! As PP's said keep trying for the 6th night. I would book another resort on property for the 6th night for reasons already stated, but also because, if you get the 6th night after you arrive, Disney will be the most likely to cancel the one night with no penalty in order to move you to the YC. If you haven't been able to get the 6th night you can still ask upon arrival if they are able to accommodate you. Perhaps you could consider a one night stay at the AKL? It is only a 5 min bus ride to the AK and is almost a destination in itself, so if you do end up staying here for one night, it could be a fun way to end the trip! AKL is similar to the WL but with an African theme. Its biggest drawback is its distance from the MK, which is not a problem for you.

Good luck!

I would keep the 5 nights at YC and keep trying for that 6th night. I would suggest looking for availability at BC and even BWI for that 6th night. BC, especially, would make your move very easy. Or, as others have suggested, try AKL for your last night and just enjoy the resort - it's really nice!

We love the WL, too, but we also like staying at BC/YC. As resorts go, we do like the WL better than the YC. But, we love the location of the BC/YC, the pool and all the restaurants in walking distance of the resorts. I wouldn't like a split stay, either. Maybe that extra night will open up later. :)

Thanks for all the feedback. I've stayed at AKL before, and found it very nice. But I liked WL more. I'm traveling solo, and would like to keep the room around $250/night. With my AP rate, I have several options. I hope to make my decision tomorrow.

I'd get all 6 nights at WL. YC is nice but the hassle of moving for one night makes my decision.

The problem is that if you don't try what you know you want to try, you'll still be thinking about it. If it's that much in your heart to try it, if you don't, you'll carry that around with you until you have another trip back.

We currently have reservations at Beach Club Villas in a few weeks. I was thinking of switching to WL, but saw that they are doing some construction. I had hoped to stay there again before the DVC expansion started but looks like it already has :)

If you don't mind moving for the 6th night, I'd keep YC. Otherwise, go for WL but be prepared to deal with some construction.

I would keep YC because of the location and keep trying for the sixth night!
