Who: Kaycee – that’s me!

What: This was my 10th visit to WDW. I had a few solo days at the end of my December trip, but this was my first entirely solo trip. I did meet up with several other DISer’s during my weeklong stay though.

When: May 9 – 16, 2005.

Where: I stayed at the Swan. This was my second stay there, and I had a fantastic stay both times. I visited each of the 4 parks this trip, along with Downtown Disney. I didn’t go to any water parks. Most of my time was spent at Epcot due to the Flower and Garden Festival and the fact that I could live in World Showcase! I also spent quite a bit of time on the Boardwalk and visited Jellyrolls on several occasions.

Why: Because I had an AP and some money left over from my December trip, DH and 2 teenage DS’s didn’t want to go back to WDW just yet (go figure!), and I’ve always wanted to visit during the Flower and Garden Festival.

The story: I did a long, detailed trip report for my December 2004 trip. Rather than do a complete trip report in chronological order this time, I think I’ll just do a topical report and hit the highlights. I’m also going to include pictures this time. I posted a dining report on the restaurants board so I won’t mention any of my meals here. OK, here are the highlights of my trip:

Meeting other DISer’s: Before this trip I had only met one other DISer, and that was a short, random meeting in December. I had the pleasure of attending my first-ever DIS meet this time, and I also hung out quite a bit with a couple of DISer’s. I posted some pictures from the DIS meet on the DIS Meets board, but here are a few more. First, here’s TigerLily03 and TLinden16 on safari:

The music: I enjoyed quite a bit of music this trip. I spent several fun evenings with other DISer’s at Jellyrolls, the dueling piano bar on the Boardwalk. Here is a picture of me, a new friend we met that night, TigerLily03 and TLinden16:

This is me with Pete, one of the new Jellyrolls piano players, and TLinden16:

Although I didn’t get any pictures, Snowark also joined us one evening and Katypop joined us another evening.

Another picture of Pete at work. He’s a great addition to the Jellyrolls players:

I also caught a few sets by Off Kilter in the Canadian Pavilion at World Showcase:

They’re a fun group of guys, and it always amazes me to see the wide appeal they have. You’ll see fans that range from toddlers to eighty-somethings, and every age in between, enjoying their music.

I didn’t get any pictures, but I saw Epcot Vybe twice this trip. I really enjoyed their music, although I had my embarrassing moment of the trip when one of the singers pulled me out of the audience and serenaded me during Honeysuckle Rose. Luckily, no one I knew was there to take pictures!

Meeting the Disney characters: I always enjoy meeting the characters. I try to have at least one character meal each trip so that I can have some character time without waiting in line in the parks. This trip, I had breakfast with TLinden16 at Cape May. It was my first time there, and I was pleased with the character interaction. I also had good luck one morning when the character bus in Epcot came by. There were not many people around at the time, so I was able to walk up and get pictures with Mickey and Chip & Dale:

The Flower and Garden Festival: If you’ve never been to WDW during the Flower and Garden Festival, I highly recommend going. I wish I could share all the pictures I took of the beautiful flowers and topiaries, but there are just too many. Here’s a cute troll topiary I saw in Norway:

Low crowds: Another big plus to going in May is the low crowd level. My previous visits have been in June or December – very crowded times. I’ve always had fun on my WDW trips, but the parks are much more enjoyable when the crowds are low. Here are a couple of pictures I took in World Showcase one morning when there was literally not another person in sight:

I’m already making plans to go back at the same time next year.

Great pictures, Kaycee! Except for the ones with me in them ;)

You're wrong, Karen. The pics with you in them are the best ones, because those were the best times of my trip! We had a lot of fun, didn't we?

We sure did, Kaycee. Especially the nights watching our pianomen :)

Karen

Great pics Kaycee :flower: I agree, the Flower & Garden Festival is a wonderful time to experience disney :sunny: I really enjoyed meeting you. I am hoping to make another trip next May again too!
Kathe

We sure did have a fun night at Jellyrolls, didn't we, Kaycee and Kathe? Too bad Kaycee missed hug time with Scotty that night ;)

Karen

Sounds like a great trip! I was there last May and the low crowd levels were great. :sunny: I am just hoping the end of Aug wont be a zoo for this years trip.

Hug time with Scotty????What did I miss??? :confused3
Kathe

Kathe, did that drink you were drinking contort your mind so much that you don't remember that Scotty gave you a hug? Remember when he walked in, and shook his uncle's hand, then hugged his cousins? And then Tommy said, "Just wait. He does this to every table every night. He'll get to your table." So, we were at the next table, so he walked over to us, and I stood up and hugged him, and then he leaned over and hugged you and said "It's good to see you again."

No more drinks for Kathe!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

How could I have forgotten that!

Could have been the drink :drinking1 but I think it has more to do with the many days that followed, hunting for lost luggage and all LOL

Kathe

Kathe, how could you ever forget a hug from a Jellyrolls piano player? Scotty would be crushed ;)

Karen

Thanks for the report and the pictures, Kaycee :). From everything I've heard, it sounds like you all had a great time together ::yes::.

I'm going to start giving everyone who hangs with me at Disney World t-shirts that say "I survived a trip to Disney World with JellyrollsKaren"

I think we should get them for past trips too. That way, when we meet up again next May I can get 2 t-shirts!

Maybe we could colour code the t-shirts for how many trips we've survived with you Karen, you know, bronze, silver, gold :rotfl:
If I make it next May too that will be 4 for me

Kathe

Kathe, you should get extra credit for the mac and cheese incident.

Karen

Kaycee, enjoyed the report in pictures. Sounds like you girls had a great time! Now that I know what cha look like I'll speak if I see you in Lexington.
