Day 6—Wednesday, October 27, 2004

After about five hours of sleep, I got up to get ready to go to Epcot for the last day of my trip. We arrived at Epcot around 8:30, and went directly to Test Track to grab Fast Passes. I then went to ride Mission: Space. After Mission: Space, Leah and I went back to Test Track and got in the standby line.

When we got off Test Track, it was our Fast Pass return time, so we jumped back in line. When we got to the pre-show area, we ran into that great family with five kids we met at Mickey's Philharmagic the day before (although the youngest son wasn’t with them—he was too little for the ride). We chatted with the kids as we waited to get in our cars. They were excited (and a bit nervous) about riding on Test Track the first time. I was very excited for them, and couldn’t wait to hear how they liked it.

Test Track was experiencing technical difficulties while we were riding. It was very sluggish. We stopped four or five times, including one time for about 10 minutes. I was so disappointed for my new friends who were riding the ride for the first time. I really wanted them to have a great ride. When we finally got off the ride, we waited for the family to see how they liked it, and they had a good time despite the stops. The father said he’d take the kids on it again.

After Test Track, we went to the Land for the boat ride. We lucked out and got on a boat right away. They had pumpkins growing in the shape of Mickey ears, which were pretty cool to look at. When we got off the boat, we stopped and looked at the pastries in the bakery, but we didn’t buy anything. We then went to see “Honey I Shrunk the Audience.” This isn’t one of my favorite attractions. I find it a bit boring.

We then went to Norway to ride the Maelstrom. I stopped and got a chicken and chorizo quesadilla on the way and it was as yummy as the one I had a few days earlier. We then road the Maelstrom, which is a fun ride, but much too short. They were experiencing technical difficulties with the film, so we had to walk out a different way.

We continued to walk around the World Showcase. I stopped at the American Adventure to pick up a visor for my sister, per her request. I was hoping to find a print of the castle we had seen at a stand earlier in the trip, but the stand wasn’t set up so I couldn’t get it.

At 12:00, I made my way to Showcase Plaza to catch Epcot Vybe (formerly known as American Vybe). They did a very energetic set of some of my favorite songs including “Fly” by Sugar Ray, and “Big Yellow Taxi” by Joni Mitchell. I always catch Epcot Vybe when I go to Disney—they are just so much fun to watch. I have to say, though, that they are much more enjoyable when they are in the rotunda at the American Adventure. There is something about their un-miked voices in the rotunda that just gives me the chills.

We then went to LeCellier for lunch. We had vouchers, so we were ready to eat big. We both started out with Cheddar Cheese Soup. It was very yummy—I love dipping my breadsticks in my soup. We both got the petite filet mignon with mashed potatoes for dinner. The meat was very tender, and the mashed potatoes were amazing. For dessert, I got the S’mores off the kids’ menu, and Leah got the sorbet. The S’mores were very yummy. I usually get the Chocolate Moose, but the S’mores were a very good choice for me.

After lunch, Leah and I said goodbye. Leah was staying for a few more days, but I had to head home soon. Before heading to get the bus back to Pop, I stopped to see Epcot Vybe once again, and I was glad I did. I got to see them perform a song from my favorite Broadway musical—“Seasons of Love” from Rent. The first time I saw American Vybe, I commented to my sister that they looked like they could be the cast of “Rent.” When I bought their CD, I saw that they actually recorded “Seasons of Love,” and I always hoped that I would get to hear them sing it. I was thrilled to finally get to hear them perform it—it gave me the chills, and I couldn’t help but sing along (got some smiles from some of the group for singing along).

After American Vybe, I browsed in the shops for a bit before heading to the bus to go back to Pop to catch my FL Tours Towncar to the airport. It’s always sad to be leaving Disney World, but it didn’t seem as bad this time around because I knew I’d be back in five and a half weeks.

FL Tours was there to pick me up right at 3:30. I had a different driver this time around, and I soon found out that it was Andy, the owner of FL Tours (and great DIS sponsor). Andy explained that my driver had gotten tied up with another client, so he was there to take me to the airport. I highly recommend using FL Tours. It was great to know that Andy jumped in to pick me up when the driver scheduled to take me was running behind. The service from FL Tours is fantastic, and the cars are always clean and comfortable.

Overall, I had a fantastic trip. We only saw a few drops of rain on the way to the hotel from the airport, which was great, as my last few trips have been dampered by heavy rain. It was sunny and hot, but not unbearably hot.
