Kali Rapid help

I'm looking for some advice

My hubby wants to ride Kali Rapid at AK as he's never done it. now this is the tricky bit... he comes with a detachable right leg and it's not supposed to get wet and we wondered what he can do to enable him to ride it or do we give up and not ride it. I'd love to ride it together but i'm not sure if the round thing in the middle would fit his artificial leg and still leave room for everyone else or if a CM could look after it.

When we rode soarin' the CM allowed him to remove his leg and they kept hold of it until the ride was done. is this the case for Kali Rapids?

Kali loading is same principle as the people mover...big turning wheel with rafts stationary at the edge. You don't have a ton of time to load but I believe they can slow or stop the wheel to give you more time. One option would be to wrap you or the leg in a poncho if it can bend enough to sit in a regular chair-say 90degrees. You could take theseat right by the entry. Other option is to give it to CM. I suspect they'd accomodate you.

i never thought of a Poncho! we're normally happy to walk in the rain since it doesn't bother us a poncho doesn't cross our minds.

hubby was worried that a CM wouldn't let him ride without the leg on (for emergency exits)

there is a different load area for those who need extra time to load like wheelchair that I have had to use, I can walk a short distance and I have rode many times. they leave wheelchairs there so my guess is this is where they would load you and you would leave leg there just a guess. there is a way that they mark the raft so they know to return it there for unloading but I forget what they use

You can buy ponchos at gift shop outside (or sometimes fron exiting riders).

My son was in a walking cast on our last trip. We brought a garbage bag just for this ride. When we got close to loading, he stepped into the bag and tied it shut at the top around his thigh. When we got off, he threw away the bag. We brought several with us just for this ride and the potential rain.

Maybe a large gift bag that can easily tie at the top of his leg? They sell these around Christmas time for those huge packages people don't want to spend time to wrap in regular wrap. You could ask at a local store and get him something silly or Disney to fit the place and time.

The leg probably won't fit in the storage compartment. It would probably leave a gap in the lid. I'd go with a poncho or garbage bags wrapped around the leg.

ask to load in the handicap area the boat is pulled in and held not on the rotating area. this is where guest in wheel chairs load and I'm sure n they would hold his leg there

Interesting fact for Kali: The heaviest side almost always goes down the drop backwards and therefore gets the most wet.

Many pharmacies (and maybe places like Walmart?) sell those plastic leg covers for people with casts. We got one for my mom when she broke her ankle. I believe it cost around $3 or $4 and went almost up to her hip (but could be cut for length). It velcroed on, and was reusable. Folded down pretty small.

Something like that might be useful for other rides, as well (Splash Mountain, PotC) or if it gets particularly rainy (we've been stuck wading through ankle-deep puddles before).

some good ideas here. thank you very much. i think we can work something out and i feel easier knowing he can enjoy the ride too.

i will defo ask about the handicapped area when we plan to ride it.
