JustEmmy and Emmysmommy return to WDW for some wining and dining

Hello Emily! I'm in for your reviews! Can't wait to read more!

I was thinking about Jiko for a solo trip I am making in June but not sure about any of my plans yet!

Boma has been on my list the last 2 times we've been to Disney and I have yet to make it there. Next time for sure! It won't be for awhile unfortunately, but something to look forward to.

Loved your Boma review! Boma is one of my favorite WDW breakfasts, and it sounds like you got to enjoy some of their highlights (such as the bread pudding and corned beef!). Their grilled asparagus is also delicious - now I'm really missing Boma. :goodvibes

Oh my gosh, how did I miss that Boma has corned beef?! I LOVE corned beef!

That bread pudding with pecan sauce looks pretty phenomenal, too! :cloud9:

I'm glad you had a wonderful breakfast!

I have never been to Boma! I'm going (not until next year, *sigh*) with my sister and my niece who is a picky eater (she's 27 years old by the way) and it looks like it's got a little something for everyone so we might have to try this!

And I have to say that I love your photos! They are wonderful!!:thumbsup2

I love TH for breakfast, but Boma is calling my name… I will get there one day!! Everything looks amazing!!!

I cant think of anything I didn't like either

:goodvibes

Boma is one of our favorites! It's a must do on every trip. We have yet to try breakfast though, however I have heard that it is one of the better breakfast in WDW.... From your pictures this looks true!!!

I would have to agree with whoever you've heard that from! Part of what's so great is the selection. Definitely at the top of my list! :goodvibes

Just read your Jiko review and I remember one of my dining partners had the short ribs. I remember her saying how amazing they were. I am definitely making an ADR here in October. I think its time to go back!

Great! How exciting. Definitely try the short ribs! :cloud9:

The dinner menu is really good :goodvibes
DH kept himself happy with the carved meats and there was a ton of interesting veggie options for me
The soups in particular are yummy :thumbsup2

Lovely! I think my mom and I will definitely have to try it. :goodvibes

Love Boma for breakfast and love it even more at dinner :). If only we had one here in San Antonio!

I wish we had one out where we live too. California has almost everything, but not anything like Boma! Maybe it's about time for it to be introduced. :thumbsup2

Hi Paula! :teeth:

Jiko is now a must-do for us; there's no going back once you try it. It'll fit on the calendar somewhere! ;) Have you tried Jiko before? :)

Definitely! It's such a great restaurant. :)

Thanks DDW! :goodvibes Haha me too. Again I say, that's the problem with dining reviews-- they make you want more food! It's not a bad thing if you're in Disney World, but unfortunately, right now, I'm a meager junior in high school with a fridge full of leftovers. hahaha Can you say, "first-world problems"? :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, how did I miss that Boma has corned beef?! I LOVE corned beef!

That bread pudding with pecan sauce looks pretty phenomenal, too! :cloud9:

I'm glad you had a wonderful breakfast!

Thanks Jenny. :goodvibes Me too! Just make sure not to miss it next time! It's like nothing else. :cloud9:

The bread pudding is as good as it looks. Make sure to try that one too next time. :thumbsup2

Oh! It sounds perfect for your niece then! You can't go wrong with cereal and pancakes. :thumbsup2 I think you'd really enjoy their other selections too. It's very unique. :)

Thanks so much! It was a fun time to play around with my camera. I'm definitely still learning, but it's a pretty exciting. :goodvibes

Alright everybody! I'm sorry my reviews are a little delayed, but they will be more consistent soon. If any of you readers have juniors in high school, you know what a busy year it can be. haha! I'll continue with replies and hopefully, more than one review and my bonus feature tomorrow. Have a wonderful rest of your day, everyone! :goodvibes

Aw C'mon, Andrew's not busy at all! ;) Oh, and he is actually sound asleep at 8:30 on a Friday night after his "non busy" week of school, testing, lacrosse and of course the girlfriend!

Hang in there, Em ... looking forward to your reviews when you get to them!

I too get the "junior" thing. I got to see my DS for a total of 20 minutes today while he wolfed down his dinner. He literally ran out of the house at 7:00 this morning for math team practice (gearing up for the state competition in 4 weeks), followed by school, followed by Prom committee meeting (as Junior Class President he is in charge of Prom, which is in 2 weeks), followed by a quick trip to Bloomington for a haircut and to get fitted for his prom tux, 20 min. break to eat dinner, then off to practice for the school musical (which is next weekend). To my complete surprise, he got a lead role in this...I didn't even know he could sing! :lmao: His girlfriend was smart though. She joined the stage crew just so she could spend a little more time with him.

So anyway, Emily, I totally understand that your Dining reviews might not be your first priority. ;)

Barb: That's funny!!

Barb and Vicki your kids are involved in such great activities!! I should be glad that I got to give Em a hug as I was coming home tonight and she was leaving. :)

Oh, and she is doing volunteer work with kids for her entire Spring Break so no free time that week. (Our school district doesn't have Spring Break until the week of April 15th... so odd.)

I'm looking forward to her bonus update since I can attest that it was awesome! As for the rest of her DR, I'm not going to hijack this but I will either have to slow down my TR or just pass over any reference to food since I'm linking her dining reviews in my report. :lmao: I'll give the kid a break!! :cutie:

I usually just lurk...happily reading what other people type...But your camera and photo taking skills are amazing!!! Thanks for posting.

I'm a little late dropping into your DR here, and also a little late with checking out the dining boards in general!! :goodvibes Better late than never :)

We'll be heading to WDW in exactly three weeks time :cool1: - we have booked our ADRs (in my PTR), but I'm now thinking a bit more about menu choices and snack options etc. etc.

Great reviews so far!!! Boma definitely looks amazing - that will be a must for a future trip, or even this trip if I can convince my fellow travellers to sneak in a Boma breakfast!

I haven't tried Jiko either, but we have a ressie there during this trip! We wanted to do a 'Signature', and had such a great experience at Cali Grill in the Summer of 2011. Seeing as it's closed for refurb etc at the moment though, we decided to book something new, and plumped for Jiko. Loved your reviews and pictures! Think I might go with what you had - that looked so yummy!!

I'm also playing around with photography and lenses etc, and am still very much a beginner! Your photos really do look great though!!

Looking forward to more! :thumbsup2

Em, you must be so busy, I can't begin to imagine. You need to at least get this DR finished before your next trip ;)

Love to you all x

Loving your reviews and your photos are amazing!! So happy you loved Jiko. I think it's one of the best restaurants on property. We had a less than magical experience there once but they went SO far above and beyond to make up for it the next time that all is forgiven. They definitely do customer service right! ::yes::

Looking forward to more, when you have a chance. :)

I love TH for breakfast, but Boma is calling my name… I will get there one day!! Everything looks amazing!!!

It's definitely worth the trek! We have had dining reservations for TH before but have always canceled. It's been sounding really good recently though! We may have to make our way over there one morning. :goodvibes

Thanks Vicki! I have two that are ready to post. :goodvibes Haha! Sounds like high school life to me. Poor guy. Well, there's just a few months left! The last year is supposed to be the easiest. And I'm sure that the Disney trips are a nice break for him too. :thumbsup2

Wow! Well, now I just feel like I have no excuse! hahaha That's quite the impressive schedule. And a very smart girlfriend too. :thumbsup2

Hi Bethan! How exciting! And what a beautiful time of the year to be there. We love Cali Grille as well. We can't wait until the the refurb is up. That being said, Jiko is a fabulous alternative. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. :goodvibes

What kind of camera/lenses do you have? I'm very much a beginner as well. It's very fun though, isn't it? :)

Love to you all x

Haha! Thanks Joh. I'll certainly try! :thumbsup2 I just wish that I'd been able to see you in Vegas. That's the only real problem with my school-- I never know when I'll have class. Next time though. xoxo

I agree. Not only is the food good, but the service is exceptional. Sorry to hear about your not-so-great experience the one time though. Thank goodness they do a great job at recovery. haha :thumbsup2

Yak and Yeti

As you all probably know, the Animal Kingdom can be like a rain forest! That being said, it’s nearly necessary to catch a break in an air conditioned building, so we always make our way to Yak and Yeti. Yak and Yeti is a Landry’s owned restaurant with an Asian-inspired menu and décor. So, it’s a bit like a Claim Jumper, but Asian. :thumbsup2 On their menu, you’ll find entrees from the wok, as well as things from the grill, such as their Kobe Beef Burger. (Which I will definitely have to try some time!) Mom and I have always come to the park full from breakfast though, so we typically stick to appetizers. So, here is our bounty as well some pictures of the restaurant.

Let’s start it off with mom’s piña colada. After a sip of this, mom declared it “her drink”. This drink has a creamy flavor and not a very strong flavor of alcohol at all. After discussing this choice in beverage, my mother says she should drink more…on vacation.

This is the side (not the appetizer) of pork egg rolls with chili plum sauce. These are a consistently a favorite of ours—crispy and perfectly flavored. The sauce is delicious as well with just the perfect amount of chili flavor. So good! And in case you were wondering, the difference between the side and the appetizer is that the side includes two egg rolls, while the appetizer includes three.

IMG_8113_zps1f5cd710.jpg

We also ordered the appetizer of pork pot stickers. This plate comes with five oh-so-fabulous pot stickers and a soy lime sauce (basically soy sauce with lime juice). Honestly, I liked these even more than the pot stickers at Ohana. They have just the right amount of crunch, and who doesn’t love a little soy sauce? We’ll definitely be having these again.

This is the seared ahi tuna with wasabi aioli, sweet chili slaw, and a soy dipping sauce. I had this last time and it was very good. It was this time as well, but I really ordered it because I didn’t feel hungry enough to order anything heavier. So, this is a great option for anyone feeling the same way. The entire appetizer is very light and has a phenomenal blend of flavors. If you like sushi, you’ll like this too. It’s an all-around very nice meal.

And now for the best part of any meal… DESSERT! Don’t the taste buds just love their sweets? This is the plate of fried cream cheese wontons with honey vanilla drizzle. They are served on skewers with pineapple and strawberry and a side of ice cream. This must be one of the best desserts of our trip. It’s very rich and creamy and the wontons are nice and crispy. These flavors are very well paired with the fruit. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried them yet. Delish! :cloud9:

Now here are some pictures of the restaurants:

I love the details on their doors.

That Ahi Seared Tuna looks so good. Great review. I would love to stop in for a light lunch sometime.

Love this Y&Y review! We have ADRs in September and I can't wait to try those pot stickers as well as that YUMMY looking dessert!! Great pics!

This was so much better than Panda Express!! ;) We need to return for our Y&Y fix!!
