I think this will be the year that we can finally buy inot the DVC, been waiting since they were selling OKW.
How many of you owners out there miss staying at other resorts? We love the Poly and was wondering as this is such a major investment for us if we would miss staying at the other resorts. Once we buy I doubt if we will stay anyplace other then at the vacation club resorts.

My home resort is wilderness lodge.We do not miss staying at other resorts. It really is like coming back home once you have your own home resort. Dont forget you can stay at other resorts, just watch your booking dates. My son (who is 30) and I are staying at OKW in October, hes never been to Disney but were doing the 10K run together there this year. Husband,children and grandchildren staying home for this one and just him and I are going. Would have liked to stayed at WL but they were all booked, by the time we deceided to go. Hope you go ahead with investing, it has saved my husband and I a bunch of money.

Even though we have SSR as our home resort, we often stay at the other non-DVC hotels. Next month we will be taking a long weekend at the Dolphin.
We really like this resort and the teacher's rate, $99.00/night, is great.

We have been members at OKW since '97, and we don't miss the hotel rooms at all! We had one night at AKL a couple years ago, and were VERY glad to get back to our 2 bedroom the next day.

Keep those positive comments coming I have wanted this a long time, I figure I can always rent my points to a friend one year and stay at the poly again.

In my opinion, the DVC resorts are the best on property, the DVC rooms are the nicest rooms. Once you stay in a one or two bedroom, you will never look back.

And like you said, if you ever do get "homesick" for the poly, you can rent out the points and pay cash.

The perfect cure for that for me is staying at a WDW resort on the weekend and staying at a DVC resort during the week. Best of both worlds! I also save weekend points which are so high. We did that on our last trip in Nov. BWV for the week and WL on the weekend. We loved it and don't mind switching, it's very easy.
We are new members but rented 2 years in a row before buying this past Nov. We really love it. We don't have any regrets.
