Just when I though Genie Plus could not get worse

I'm actually quite happy with it.
I always liked FP+ and this gives the added benefit of booking one more at a time after you use your first one.
I think this will encourage people to spread the advanced ones throughout the day which really helps the overall flow since we all know that most of the time people would try to make them for the first 3 hours of park opening so they could start booking more for the rest of the day.

I also like the advanced booking.

I guess you're going to have people that love or hate something no matter what it is.
I agree. Even though I can’t modify super easily right now, having the 3 pre booked removes so much stress. Day 2 of our trip and I can just relax without worrying about refreshing and setting reminders every 2 hrs to book another one. I really was not a fan of that.

Are you not going to try one of the workarounds being touted? Such as .......

For those struggling on iPhone with accessing Lighning lane multipass etc from UK

  • Turn off Location services in your iphone settings
  • Turn on Aeroplane mode
  • Keep Wifi on also
  • Use a VPN selecting a US location
You also need to change some settings in your My Disney Experience App

  • Press the 3 lines bottom right
  • scroll down to my profile
  • account settings
  • country of residence
  • Change to United States
  • Click Done
After this close down the app, log in again and fingers crossed it should work for you
Unfortunately trying these workarounds seemly having limited rates of success at the moment. This is causing quite a bit of concern for those of us outside America & Canada, as we're being left with the scraps on the day of arrival.

That's a shame. I know that some people want the service even if I'm not interested. Someone elsewhere said that DVC members can get theirs set up through customer services.

Can we switch parks after already paid? Do I cancel the three and then it will let me reselect from a different park? I paid for MK but we are thinking of doing Epcot instead. We won’t be stepping foot into MK today, so not tapping in at all. I don’t know what is the best way to at least book something in Epcot that I prepaid for this…
Probably too late, but I don’t think you can switch and I think you have to tap into the park where you reserved your rides. If they didn’t do that, people would reserve the cheapest park then switch. I hope you report back how you made out.

At least you are American. I am coming from Europe in 2 weeks and wont be allowed to prebook anything
Why not go someplace else like Paris Disneyland or even Japan or other spots in Asia. Those parks outside of the states seem to be better run and more interesting in many cases. Personally since Disney took over Paris Disneyland I think they are trying to get more Europeans to go there instead of the states. They kind of need to prop up the Paris park and denying Europeans any perks might just encourage folks to go there instead of coming to the states.

You can modify to the new park.

If second park is a more expensive LLMP, you will be charged the difference.

If the second park is less $ for LLMP you will not be refunded the difference.

At that point there are no more tier 1 rides. It is basically paying for FP+ (you could park hop with genie plus too) It is a downgrade. It is not worth the price.

We were there opening day and we started with Mickey and Minnie’s…as soon as we used it as our first one, I booked Frozen and then changed one of our group 2 to Soarin.

We also could have added Big Thuneder had we wanted to park hop to a third one.

So, it’s possible to do more than one Group 1

I’m not sure this is true. I know someone who did AK and park hopped to MK. No charge for the difference in price.

So I ended up canceling the three MK choices I had, at that point it let me switch parks to Epcot. However when I go to choose something I got an error message that I “ need to redeem experience before selecting another park”

But the good news is that we changed our minds again, I rebooked another 3 choices at MK with better times. Go figure. This was around 9ish this morning.

See below as this person is correct. The message I quoted and was referring to was asking about switching all currently booked LLs BEFORE using any of them.
You can park hop with no change in price. The example being discussed was changing the first park.
Thank you.

I just read over the new revised Genie plus (aka FP+) system. I think it stinks - especially if the prices stay the same. Am I the only one not happy??
There seems to be a lot of unhappy people regarding this change but i am not one of them....I'm actually thrilled about it for these reasons:

1.) while I'm always up by 7 am I'm not exactly fully functional then.... logging in and securing rides at that time is not my specialty....
2.) i love knowing i have 3 rides nailed down 7 days prior.....much more relaxing.....it is vacation after all, not work...
3.) having those 3 rides pre-booked does not interfere with lunch or dinner which happened often with Genie....
4.) the people who seem to love Genie were the stackers....i'm a 10 to 3 parks guy and head back to my room at that time and prepare for a nice relaxing dinner with 1 or 2 adult beverages with my wife...returning to the parks at night to satisfy my ride desires is not for me....when i do enter at night i usually stroll the countries of Epcot....much more relaxing (see the theme here?)....

Anyways, it's all sunshine and lollipops for me.... sorry it's not for you.....hopefully you'll grow to love it

There are a lot of unhappy (and happy) people with any change that's rolled out. Unhappy people when they went from paper FP to online FP+.... unhappy people when they moved to Genie+ (although I will admit I was unhappy about the fees).... unhappy people now with the new LLMP/SP process. We've used all those FP/LL options over the years, liked parts of them and disliked parts of them. But the new one has some definite advantages for us. Looking forward to testing it out in person in several months. I laugh when I look back on all the Genie+ bashing that took place - constantly! Now some folks miss it.....!!

It only costs us fifty bucks to get in and we get to do Universal as well. Once Epic Universe opens you'll see even more International visitors, but most will probably choose to base at Universal instead of Disney if the system doesn't change.

Love this. Happy to have 3 rides booked for first thing, we can RD a headliner and then bang out our 3 LLs and hit some other rides maybe book 1 or 2 more for the late morning or start stacking for after our pool break.

I am going next week and love having my days picked. Also at 12:20 today every LL was available at MK except Tiana’s.

Sunshine and lollipops !!!

I truly believe the situation at Universal Orlando will also completely change with Epic Universe next year. Their Express Pass and park access rules are going to have to change with the 3rd park. I know the comparisons are often made between the 2 main themed areas, but Epic Universe is very likely not going to be as simple as staying at the Hard Rock and getting Express Pass for the parks.

Genie plus did not have tiers. You would book then either swipe to use or wait two hours. Now you can book three rides, 1 desirable, the other two meh, but you have to use all three before you can book another. Just like FP plus, tier one rides go fast. We Never got more than one tier 1 ride per day with fp plus.
What I have read says that you should book your tier 1 ride before arrival. If you want to ride a tier 2 ride then pick a time. your second tier 2 ride should be booked as soon as you arrive and can scan it to it or just not booked. That way when you get in you arrive you can see what other tier 1 rides have openings and book it. The tiers are only for pre booking. You can hold 3 reservations but do not have too.

Pretty sure Epic will not have an express pass option for at least the first year. They need to keep the lines moving in their brand new park.
We're going Sept 2025 and will be staying at a premier resort to get the express pass for IOA and USO. I've never experienced a brand new theme park in my lifetime so very interested to see how they handle Epic.
