Just when I though Genie Plus could not get worse

At that point there are no more tier 1 rides. It is basically paying for FP+ (you could park hop with genie plus too) It is a downgrade. It is not worth the price.
“Sold Out” is only a temporary condition with Genie+ as availability changes constantly. It will be the same with MultiPass. It usually only takes a few minutes of refreshing to find time slots for top tier attractions.

I’ll be interested to see it will be possible to modify Tier 2 attractions into Tier 1’s after the park opens. This could turn out to be much better than G+.

I highly doubt tier 2 will be able to modify to tier 1, but we will see later today.

Maybe I am missing the mark but the new Genie+ system with the tiers is just like the old fastpass with the tiers except for having to pay for Genie+. The real difference is having to wait until 7 days out (if staying on property) instead of the 60 day window that was offered during the old fastpass system. Personally I like the idea of the new system and being able to book atleast 3 rides at the times, or close to, that I want to experience. I realize that I might be in the minority but for me it works.

The other difference is less overall availability at AK & MK as 7DMT & FOP are now their own LLs.

It may be a little too soon to jump to the conclusion that this won't work. There's nothing in any of the information provided so far that indicates that you can't modify the MultiPasses after arriving at the park. The only restriction is that you can't pre-book more than one Tier 1 attraction in advance.

It's not a downgrade. It's paid FP+. Not so long ago we were pining about the joys of FP+ and hating Genie+.

You truly think it's a bad thing to get 3 rides booked, 3-7 days in advance, versus not getting it until the morning of and only being able to book ONE ride before you got into the park?

looks like it is worse to me.
On the other page, someone just reported, at 2 pm, there were no tier 1 available.

Today is only Day Zero for this new product. It's too early to call it a downgrade.
To be fair, it’s about the same cost as G+ was, with fewer offerings (no character M&Gs, Enchanted Tales with Belle removed, parade, etc.). At surface level that is kind of a downgrade.

Sure, pre-selecting is back, but the trend of available inventory for later in the day is not off to a good start.

I just read over the new revised Genie plus (aka FP+) system. I think it stinks - especially if the prices stay the same. Paying more for less. I was not a big fan of Genie plus - but you could at least make it work and get some decent rides if planned. Now it is pay for one good ride, pay extra for premier, and the rest are all second tier rides. Am I the only one not happy??
I think you're misunderstanding the system. You can still book any ride day of just like you could under the old system. You simply get to make one tier 1 and two tier 2 in advance. You're free to still not like it but hard to say you're getting less since you can book anything under this system as you could under the old.

Under the old system many of the tier 1 rides were gone for the day by 2pm at busy park times as well. And saying they're not available is also just a snapshot of a specific moment. Based on past history - with some refreshing rides that weren't available will have available open up throughout the day.

Nope. I just read about it today and wasn’t impressed.

I always hated booking rides in advance. You shouldn’t be allowed to book until you are in the park. Though I’m also someone who preferred paper fast pass.

Based on my first reading it sounds like the new baseline is staying at a deluxe hotel. If you don’t do that you have to buy it for the same price as those at the deluxe resort but you get the scraps cause everything will already be booked?

People staying at deluxe hotels don't have any advantage over any other on-site hotel. If you're staying on property you can book 7 days in advance.
