Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. It is 40 here now with temps getting into the mid 40s. We are expecting some snow on Tuesday, just a coating to an inch. I have been to Wegmans and that is hopefully it for a supermarket until after Christmas. I am going to the lake today to walk and then making Christmas cookies. Last night Kenny picked me up and we went looking at Christmas lights in the area. It was a fun hour with Kenny and family. Kenny is trying to talk me into staying over Christmas Eve night. I feel like I want to be in my place and I will have to bring Jeff's family gifts over that night and I don't want have my car outside with gifts in it. I will see. If the grandkids want me to of course I will. Kenny did say I could park in the garage and he would leave his car out. Decisions decisions. I have Kenny's family gifts ready to go and today or tomorrow will pack up Jeff's family gifts. Gifts and stockings for 6 people are not easy to get ready to go!

Have a good Sunday.

Good morning friends. It's a cool Sunday for here. I expect to have two therapy sessions later this morning which is a blessing. I will also be checking to see whether a friend of mine is working here right now who I can sound out about a possible new roommate. That is a top priority.

I will check out online worship and work on more Christmas mail to hand out. My sincere apologies for not sending out much snail mail over the last few months especially. All of you are always in my heart and prayers.

Have a great day. I will check back in later.

Good morning. 24 now going to 46, then warming to the mid 50s. Chance of rain several days this week. I'd rather rain than snow, but a little snow on Christmas Eve would be nice.

Summer seems to be MIA again. She was supposed to stop by here Saturday to drop off something, haven't heard from her, no response to voice mails or texts. I know she has to drive to the top of WV to get her husband (not Cincinnati for a change, because the guys all have to go to the office before going home), but not sure what day.

I did a little cross stitching, watched a Christmas movie and started a Paramount series but I don't think I'm watching past the first episode, not my thing.

Have a good day

Good morning. It is 27 now with temps heading to the mid 30s. We are expecting 1-3 inches of snow today. At least tomorrow and Christmas Day should be good for traveling. Jeff and family are heading this way tomorrow for a brunch at Kenny's and then I am heading to Jeff's on Christmas so want clear roads. I was in the office yesterday for our team holiday lunch. It was nice to see everyone. I will miss my coworker who is leaving at the end of the year. I took home all my stuff that I brought in, including the office chair I brought into the old office years ago and just transferred to the new one when we moved. I needed a new one for my work at home office so I am using the chair now. It seems like the end of an era not to have a place to go once in a while to see everyone. We do plan to do team get togethers for lunches. Off to work. I work 2 hours tomorrow just to get the important stuff done. Then off until Monday.

Have a good day.

Grandchildren were with me last night and are still sleeping. I have had my tree up for a bit now, since coming back from Florida but only added a couple of ornaments that were in my cupboard.

While searching for track pieces (extra in separate boxes) for my WDW Railroad which is from late 90ties/early 2000's, I found a collection of small stuffed Disney figures such as Pooh and other 100 acre wood characters, the Fab Five, Lion king, Christmas Mickey and Minnie and others. There were so many I decided to decorate my tree with them by just sitting on the branches to see how they looked. These are all still tagged and unused. About 30 of them still clean and fresh. There are probably more 'played with' items in the many boxes.

When the grands arrived they loved it! They'll be going home later today or tomorrow morning depending on parent's work schedule.

After getting the railroad set up (DD did all the getting on the floor parts for me) we discovered we needed 6 c cells. For that I needed to do a Costco run as they are usually too expensive in regular stores. So, $100 later I packed up my stuff into the back of my car in the parking area and headed home where DD carried in the extra things with GD's help. Later, she asked for the batteries. Yeah, back in the cart at Costco in the parking lot! I knew immediately I'd forgotten to take them out of the top part of the cart. Too late and rather pointless to go back as it would close before I got there. Chance it was still in the cart - a small one. So since I would probably just have to buy them again, might as well wait til today so I'll drive down there a little before opening to check if the cart is still outside.

Good morning, raining lightly but supposed to stop. 34 now, heading for 54. My friend in CO sent me a weather picture yesterday afternoon, it was 76 there. Mother Nature must think CO is the new FL.

4 days later I still haven't heard from Summer, and I refuse to try texting or calling again. Lily would let me know if something happened or was wrong. I'm done. When she wants or needs something (Summer, not Lily), that's when I hear from her. No more.

Took trash down to the street and I'm going to put my ham in the oven to bake. I don't want it for Christmas, but I want to cut it up and get the stuff that's going in the garbage out for pick up tomorrow. I took a big turkey thigh out of the freezer to defrost for Christmas.

I'm guessing you bought more than batteries for $100 @Judique , or else I'll be really glad I don't have anything that runs on C or D batteries anymore. Sorry that you left them in the cart.

Have a good day everyone

Happy Xmas Eve Eve! (Friends reference if anyone was a fan of the show)

Trying to keep up with everyone's posts every few days. The kids are coming over tomorrow to celebrate Xmas. I realized over the weekend that I should have taken off work today at least. I have too much to do and I'm running out of time. I know things don't have to be perfect but in my mind they do.

Mia and I have been doing some Xmassy things this month. We went and saw Santa and the next day our part of town had a Xmas parade so we went to that. Next, I took her to have dinner with the Grinch. She liked watching him from afar, but when he sat down with us, that was when he crossed the line. She was not having it! Last week she spent the night and our plan was to go to the zoo for the Festival of Lights but it was very rainy and windy. We decided to go see Zootopia 2. She really liked that and had herself a little dance party in the aisle at the end while the credits were running. The next day we went to the Museum Center and played at the Children's Museum and saw the big train display. She loves her trains.

My kitchen and bathroom ceilings needed fixed so Jacob and Mitchell decided this past Saturday was the best day to do that. That's why I'm feeling so rushed this week, I lost a day of baking. Not upset though, the ceilings needed fixed.

Animals are all still doing good. Carly had a bad eye issue that I hope is clearing up. She had an ulcer in her eye and it looked and probably felt horrible. On eye drops for 3 weeks. Vet put some dye in her eye a couple of weeks ago and saw that her cornea is scratched also. The vet did a procedure last week (we were going for weekly check ups) and I think it might have be the trick. She goes back Friday so hopefully it's good news.

I'm at work and we're pretty busy today. I just wanted to jump on with a quick update and to say hi to everyone. I hope you all have a great Christmas and get to spend time with your family.

Good morning. I had a very long night because of my roommate. The person who I need to talk to about someone I think may be a better fit as a roommate has had off. I will be checking the daily staff schedule chart to see if she is here today. Normally she works towards the end of the week. Praying for more rest tonight and also God-willing more positive therapy sessions. Have a good Tuesday, everyone.

Oh, absolutely! I had one granddaughter with me so she wanted apple juice. That was over $13 for single serve Martinelli's. Then she spotted a zip up sweater type thing from Eddie Bauer for 9.97. That's times two as you can't let her have it and not buy one for the other DGD. One pink and one green. Got a $10 butterball turkey for the freezer. Small one, will work for us.
Meat for lasagna later on.

Anyway, this morning went back at opening for the batteries and talked to an employee in the parking lot who told me if found by an employee it's logged in inside the store and they can look it up.

Checked inside and my batteries were returned to me! I will send an email to the manager thanking them for good service. (Right now girls are playing and my eyes are on keeping them from climbing the tree. The youngest gets a little more active inside then I care for.)

Summer sounds too much like my oldest DD whom I love but whom I've had to scale back expectations often with. I mean in the 'follow up' with family department. I ring her phone because a text would mostly be ignored unless of great interest to her. She doesn't always pick up but mostly does. There's more but it's best to leave it alone. A world of difference between my 3 kids. 2nd and 3rd, very thoughtful consistently. Still love and do for them all.

I still love her, but I'm tired of being treated as a bank and her 'fall back on' person.

Footballmouse Nice to hear from you. It sounds like you are having alot of fun with Mia. I hope Carly gets better soon.

Judique Glad you got your batteries back. That was good customer service for sure.

Good Morning. Happy Christmas Eve. We had some snow overnight so a bit slippery out there now. Temp is 34 and staying in the mid 30s today. Heading to Kenny's around 9 after I work a couple of hours. I have to pack up the car with gifts for his family and the food I am bringing. Then I am going to stay at Kenny's tonight so once he is back from Kate's family I will pack up the car with Jeff's family gifts and go over there. I leave from Kenny's to go to Jeff's tomorrow morning. Lots of packing up the car. It is crazy and I have a lot of tabs open in my brain. I feel a bit crazed. The big boss at work sent out an email asking us to work on Jan 1 and 2 to get the year end close started. I figure I will work a few hours each day and then get a full day off later when I really want a day off. It is funny that Kenny thinks it is awful that he does that and Jeff thinks it is OK as long as I get time off later. My kids are truly the odd couple! LOL! I do have plans on Jan 2 but can fit in a few hours before lunch with my MA friend.

Have a good day.

Good morning. Happy Christmas Eve Day! 44 now going to 51. The weather is like a yo yo, can't decide which way it wants to go. It's a bit breezy outside, but nothing we can't live with.

Out of the blue last night Summer texted me "Sorry, been busy, I'll drop off the brussels sprouts tomorrow". I told her never mind. I drove to Weis yesterday and got them myself. She's been too busy since Friday night to text me and tell me she couldn't make it here on Saturday, so don't bother now.

I did some of my Christmas Eve meal prep yesterday, and since I had everything out, I made my mashed potatoes and stuffing for tomorrow. I don't mind reheating them. All I have to cook is the turkey thigh tomorrow.

I had an off day yesterday. I alternated from being mad to being sad. Christmas blues I guess. Tired of being alone, etc. My friend and I talked until after 1 am and she had me laughing, which is maybe what I needed. This morning I feel better so maybe I got it out of my system.

Have a great day everyone, finish up those last minute errands, I hope anyone who has to brave the crowds at the stores has an easy time.

Happy Christmas Eve to all! Just want to respond about the work issue. Your boss crossed a line he shouldn't have. The 'but' is if you are okay with it because you will benefit with PTO later. I'm with Kenny - it's boss's management that probably resulted in the need. They are doing a transition that benefits them not necessarily their employees. Since you now want a pending retirement some odd things can be less important to you as you are on a relaxed schedule and can see a benefit ahead that is of value to you. Boss has what he perceives as a need now but 'let go' an older employee not that long ago - they may still be working until the transition but if I recall they still wanted their job. At the very least this should be a voluntary request with no recriminations if someone refuses.

Moving on to daily life in another post.....

Christmas can be an emotional challenge. I've had that this week also but from an outside source. Someday I might burden you with the details. I came out okay but may have unnecessarily burned a bridge and that's not okay. Time will tell. I tend to speak my mind and people don't always like that. Most would rather pretend others can't see right through them, me included.

Anyway, this morning I am re - cleaning my living room after having the girls here. Not really a mess, just cat hair and dog hair and the odd hair tie.

Yesterday while on another errand not xmas related I finally stopped at Giant in another town and found some ingredients I like - brand wise.

Now I've read Lynn's mashed potato and stuffing plan and with a small turkey in the fridge, wondering if I should just cook it instead of freezing it. I also have all the ingredients for a big lasagna I was going to make. Leaning towards the turkey as at TG I didn't get the sides I really love at Son's house although everything was delicious and no one left hungry.

I'm also heavily into getting 'stuff' out of my basement. While digging out the xmas stuff and the train set, I found another Lionel set - just a cheap walmart one, nothing valuable and 3 other large still in the box playsets of different varieties. Plus so many fabric type things that take up too much space. None of this was important until there wasn't enough space for newer items. Well it did but out of sight out of mind. There is also too much old furniture down there. Only one piece I want to do something with, a round ottoman that needs recovering not to look really odd upstairs. I can do this. Just have to pick up some fabric. I need something to put my feet up on once in a while.

I have a mountain of xmas stuff down there. This may be the week to pull it all up and let it go. My home is too small to display it all and then store it. I never made a transition from starter home to large family home, although prior to my separation we put a contract on a 4 bedroom 2 car garage colonial not that far away. The sale fell through on the other side, not ours but sometimes things happen for a reason. This house has been perfect for us the last 36 years.

Finally got outside to pick up my bird feeders. The wind had blown everything over and I had not been filling for awhile. I'd picked up seed after returning from Florida and had sprinkled it on the ground. Missed my birds coming around.

@Snowysmom, ‘too many tabs open in the brain’ is such a great way to describe how I feel much of the time, lol. Thanks for that, it helps keep it in perspective. I had to write out a long To Do list recently and during the day I think of things to add but then I forget what they were when I go to add them. :rolleyes1Scatterbrained, but not really, if that makes sense. I think we all just have a lot to keep track of and we try our best to do it (unlike some who can probably let a lot go). It’s nice to be with your family but I know it makes it feel scattered when staying at someone else’s house. This was actually the first year ever that I wasn’t stressed about the holiday and trying to get everything done on time, which was nice. And that was only because I’m not working right now. Work really tosses a wrench into the best laid plans! We did have a get together with my family delayed when we had to take DH into the ER unexpectedly one night, that was the only deviation, I think. (He’s fine.) We were stuck with a cake but I met up w my sister later for dinner. I also kept things really simple this year.

@Judique I’m with you, I have way to much XMas stuff, the thing was, we couldn’t get to most of it 😂 (so much got jammed in other places during our renovations) so we stuck with the very basics and much of it is some new stuff we picked up more recently. I’d like to get out cellar cleaned out - again, as we technically did it last summer hiring some kids w a truck, but it’s still full - and put up some of those nice things I see advertised that go up against the wall and containers slide in, especially for all our holiday stuff. DH loves the idea, too. Trouble is we still have my mother’s whole bedroom set down there and lots of other furniture we can’t seem to get rid of. But back to the XMas stuff. Much of that is up in our attics and we have to clean those out too. Aiming for spring. I’m sure we’ll find stuff up there we haven’t seen in years. Will be a big project and may just need a dumpster. We also don’t have walk ups, it’s pull down stairs both in our main house and over in law, so we may need to hire the young ones again to go up there and pull things down. We’ll just have to do it when it’s not too hot or too cold up there.

Wishing everyone a nice Christmas. I had to run into Marshall’s last night to return something and the line for the registers was so long it snaked back way down into the first aisle! DH noted it was mostly men in line, lol. I remember growing up on XMas Eve in the afternoon my brother would say, “Come on, let’s go Christmas shopping!” and we’d go to to the big Sears Roebuck on Mass Ave in Cambridge and run around there last minute trying to find gifts for people. Always kept a mental note about not doing that later on, haha. Looking around in Marshall’s there was still so much XMas stuff for sale it made me wonder what do they do with all this leftover stuff? I know it goes on sale but even then I think there’s too much! I do need to restock on bags and paper this year so I will hit some of those 50% off sales. It did make me a little sad to see how many trees and wreaths were still not sold in outside lots.

I visited my elderly friend recently and went back again last night to bring her a few things I thought she’d like. She cried when she opened them. Very little cost but made her so happy. She’d been telling me about her Scottish family history so I printed up a photo of her family name with crest and framed it (in a frame I already had that was extra from another project I did a year or two ago), and I found a water flask (stainless mug) with the same family crest printed on it so she could keep a drink next to her that stays nice and cold all night. She’d never seen one before. It’s hard as she still uses a land line and doesn’t use internet so she doesn’t get the whole Amazon thing or anything like that. I tried to get her to think about it years back but realized a while ago it’s just never going to happen - she doesn’t have anyone to help her with the ins and outs of it day to day so it wouldn’t work. But these made her happy, so it made me happy. She showed us some old beloved family pics last night and DH is going to get the kits to hang them on her wall for her so she can see them all the time (as she ls largely bedridden now ☹️), probably next week. I made a point this year of doing donations to the local food bank and animal shelter and did manage to actually get them done. In previous years we gave children’s gifts to the local drop offs but this year I thought the others were more needed.

We also did visit LaSalette Shrine this week. It was very beautiful all lit up and we said prayers in the church and lit some candles. Super cold and crowded, though - lines to get in seemed like a mile long in all directions. Food lines were crazy, too, and we were hungry. So we left and went to Denny’s, lol.

Enjoy your holidays, hugs to all. 🐥 🎄 Thank you all for your friendship and for keeping this going all these years. ❤️

Good morning, not to cold here today, in the 40s.

I am so ready for this year to be over. Dad is still in the hospital with a new issue discovered, not sure how serious it is yet. My daughter is sick as are 3 of my grandsons. We thought my SIL was having another stroke, thankfully the scans were clear. Yesterday both of my cookie presses broke and Last night my mom fell and fractured her wrist.

Im wearing Grumpy is the new Happy today. Fits my mood right now.

Tomorrow is a new day and Christmas so maybe a better day except for dinner. We are going to my brother's for vegan lasagne. I may stop at Wawa on the way home for turkey bowls.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
