Just Wanna Vent!

I know this is terrible of me, but there is someone on another MB I hang out on who is always begging people to give her their extra items or give her (cheap) dibs when they want to sell something. Now she has begun bringing up (at least once a week) that she wants a particular diecutter (no, not Cricut) and how that will help her relieve X memory (she seems to have lots of memories to relive). Several of us have pointed out sales on this item and the fact that one store has layaway which will make it less than $30/month (for 3 months).

She keeps on posting/whining that she wishes she had it, never responding to our posts. If she had done what was suggested back in December, she would have it by now.

Tonight I got an email from one of the other members that they are buying gift certificates from that store to send to this lady so that she can buy said item.

I am so sorry, I know that scrapbooking is not a cheap hobby, and that I am lucky to be able to afford what I have, but I only ever ask DH for $.

Please don't flame me too badly, but I really needed to vent. Whining drives me nuts, especially from adults!

Sounds to me like she's a spoiled brat. Crazy lazy!

I am all for sharing my stuff, we don't have to make the baby books that we make or RAK people or help out another scrapper in need but if I can do something to help on my terms I'm all for it. Just don't continually pester me for something. that is a sure fire way of you not getting what you want. Just ask my kids! LOL
That's a big ticket item, I would never ask for someone to hand me $$ to go buy it. If I can't afford it, I go without.

Did the e-mailer ask you to chip in?? I would tell her heck no! (in not such a nice way) and explain to her why.

Yep, they did ask me to chip in. I deleted it. I was not going to start a fight, since some of those ladies think it is our duty to help her. She is not worth getting banned. [Once she posted I was hateful to her, since I asked her not to call me by a nickname (I use my real name there), and that she was leaving. Unfortunately, others convinced her to stay. BTW, I tell everyone that same thing - IRL especially!]

Why, oh why do people think others should give them stuff?

Why?? Because in today's society some people have a sense of entitlement just because they are there and grace us with their presence.

And scrappers are a group of people that help others, our kindness is our downfall sometimes.

You just hang out here with us! I promise I won't ask you to buy me those diamond earrings I've been eyeing. Well, maybe the tennis bracelet but not the earrings.

I hate people like that! Not that I bear a grudge...... oh since you asked I used to do a cookery class with two friends and one evening she went on and on about it was "her special silver jubilee 50p she had been saving as she had no more money in her money box" (OK we were 12/13, I told you i don't bear a grudge ) moaning to everyone hoping they'd say "I'll lend you 50p" or that the teacher would say "you don't need to pay". Everyone ignored her whines!

I've had gorgeous RAKs from you lovely ladies and I always feel really grateful, then worry it looks like I've been hanging out for stuff. I'm not worthy

Ignore her! And don't swap with her - that'll teach her!

Sorry to hear that happened (is happening to you) BuzzBelleMom.

I totally agree w/ what Buffy (BAMB) had to say. If I can help that is great, but if I can't than I hope you understand. We have helped fellow scrappers before w/ baby books, RAK, or other family needs and wouldn't think twice to help again.... but to beg for the items is nuts. Wouldn't happen for me.

I also agree that if you don't want to be called by a nickname than others should repect that. Especially because I'm sure when it was done, you nicely replied that you prefer to be called XXXXX not YYYYYY. I have only certain people call me by my nickname.

Well, since BAMB is asking for the tennis bracklet, could I just request the necklace!!! Hey remember if anyone gets anything, WE SHARE!!! List will be posted later for sign ups!

Helping someone for a good cause, or they've had a bad break, or you just feel like it; is something we all seem to like to do.

Why do the others on that group feel like they should help the whining lady? Is she old and on a fixed income? Is she taking expensive medications and has no $$ left over? Does she a have low paying job and spend her free time helping others?

If the answer is no, then I don't see a reason for you to help just because she whines. Send her some cheese & crackers to go with her whine.

I don't wear jewelry, but if want to contribute to my "I need the Pooh & Friends Cart" foundation, that would be wonderful.

Oh, my! Are you serious? That's just plain crazy! When I say I'd love to have the Paper Dolls cart, I don't expect someone else to get it for me. I just wouldn't feel right having someone else buy my supplies because I had whined enough. I don't know if I could've just deleted that e-mail. It would've been too tempting to reply, "I'm so sorry, but I just pulled the last few coins from my couch cushions and spent it to buy adhesive to make scrapbooks and cards for charity and don't have any money left to chip in for the die cutter she so desperately needs."

I really thought I was alone in not wanting to help her. You all have helped me see that I am not wrong. I really would love to know how many have decided to chip in, but I do NOT want to open that can of worms!

I wonder if she will even bother to thank those who are helping her out...

As for why people want to help her, she was reminding people that her son was in Iraq last year EVERY SINGLE POST and now she needs the die cutter to buy pirate dies so she can remember her youth when her mother took them to a pirate parade every year. Her mother has passed away and she misses her so much, those dies - you get the picture.

I am SO tempted to send her some cheese stickers, but mercifully I have lost her addy (from when she first begged me to give her something last year and never thanked me until I asked her if she received it several weeks later.)

I can relate. I once belonged to a MB for a musical group. You had to pay $30 for a years membership and there was this one chick who was always whining EVRY DAY about her job, she got a DUI, she had court costs, she had to hire an attorney, she'd been out with the girls the night before, she got fired, she got a new job, she had to move closer, she got fired, she had to move back, she got a new job, she hated her boss, she wanted a new job and couldn't find it, on and ON! But on top of everything, she'd post during the day and say she couldn't wait until after work when she could go "out" with the girls.

You know where this is going don't you...........

About a week before her membership was up, she kept posting that she loved us all but would have to say so long since she couldn't afford her $30 annual fee.

You guessed it.........someone took up a collection and paid it for her.

That did not set well with me....... give up just one of those nights out with the girls and you could have paid for it yourself!!!

and am I the only one wondering if ANY of her story is true? Do you know? Does she really have a son? Did her mom really pass? A pirate parade? really?
