Hello,
We just took the tour today at Doorway of Dreams at our local mall. They said in addition to the room there were dining discounts, discounts in the park etc, those that have been DVC member for a while can you enlighten me to those benefits? Thanks!

We've talked about becoming members for a while now and now after taking the tour we are [this close] to taking the plunge to become DVC members...wish us luck!

The perks don't last forever so don't use any one as a basis for your decision. You can get a current copy of the "Portable Perks" book anytime you visit for the latest information. AP discounts, restaurant discounts, various shopping discounts, floral discounts (at WDW) are some of the current offerings. Others are discounted tours and experiences. Lots of stuff at both WDW and DL.

Good luck in your decision to move from "this close" to joining...

The "Portable Perks" aren't published online by Disney, but I have found a site that has listed them . . .

http://www.arondaparks.com/DVC%20Perks.htm

and of course the Member Benefits Guide, which you normally access from the DVC member site . . .

http://advc.disney.go.com/media/dvc_v0302/languagespecific/eng/member/justformembers/memberbenefitsguide/memberbenefitsguide_021408.pdf

In the end, the perks aren't that big - you buy into DVC as you want a discounted room stay (at a resort that's nicer than value or moderate resort) over the years of your contract.

First, I have to say that my daughter loves Ariel too! Just wanted to share that after 3 years of the maybe, maybe not syndrome, we had a guide that finally convinced us. So although I cannot help answer your questions, for us it wasn't about the additional discounts but rather the long term use of the DVC lodging and the idea that my daughter can enjoy it hopefully with her family one day. Good luck with your decision!

I'm on board with you when it comes the the other benefits. We are still not 100% on the DVC but who knows maybe someday! I took the tour with my mom and I'm hoping she can convince my dad to buy in so we can use her points, lol. They're the ones who can afford it so I'll have to get on my dad about it since he's the one humming and hawing about it.
