We're not flying a participating airline this time either, but we'll still use DME. It's still very convenient. We usually pack shorts in our carry-on bag so when we get to our resort we check-in, change, hand our bag off to guest services and we're off. Actually, we've never waited more than an hour for our bags, but I know that's not guaranteed to happen for you. If you don't want to wait, you can always claim your bags and take them on DME with you. As far as the return flight, you can check-in and get your boarding passes at the airline check in desk even if you are not on a participating airline. You can also have them hold your luggage for you on the last day after check-out, before you are being picked up by DME. I think the biggest inconvenience with using DME is having to check your bags when you get to the airport to come home, but you will have to do that even if you don't use DME. Plus, DME is free and roundtrip in a taxi or town car costs about $120.
Just my 2 cents!!
Yeah I just saw that the town car would be WAY too much to spend. I will probably use DME. I am just worried about the hassle of checking baggage at the airport with Rylan in tow. In Indy I will have help but I am gonna have a ton of stuff. Will someone there help me with my bags? I had already planned on bringing a carryon with clothes in it just in case!
