I just sent an email to DVC MS. I suggest all of you angry about the SS Member Cruise do the same.
I still cannot believe how naive they think we are.
I am really angry, but won't go into all that again!

So, if you have the time, send a note stating your dissatisfaction. And if you plan to boycott the cruise, tell them.
They won't know unless we tell them.

Kamy :)

I am with you my friend. I am just sent them an e-mail myself.

Guys I think you should tell MS you do like the way the cruise is being done. I bet it will be sold out by next weekend if not on Sat. That is just my opinion is there is enough DVCers who will pay the cost.

[ I don't think DVC "owes" me any special rates. Go ahead and flame me for supporting the cruise. Me and the peanut are excited and can't wait to make our reservations. ]

In retrospect, and after letting my initial anger pass I have to agree. We have been somewhat spoiled with the perks that Disney used to offer to members like the free park pass and a few others that escape me right now, lol. But the initial reason we joined was to be able to have a nice place to stay that was bigger than a hotel room, on WDW property. A place that we could use anytime of the year. If you choose to stay on weekends you pay more points for that. If you want to go on a special cruise you pay more points for that.

With 60,000 members I'm sure they will have no trouble filling the ship. We went on the 10th anniversary cruise and had a great time with the 1000 members that made that trip. And if we had not booked a 4 day in May 03 we may have been making the call on Aug 24th.

So, I respectfully withdraw my BOYCOTT vote and to all those who do go on this cruise I wish you all a wonderfull time.

Kamy,
I just sent an email to ms about my disappointment in the cruise schedule. Hopefully, others will do the same.

Ditto... I also just sent an e-mail expressing my anger at this deal. I wonder how many angry e-mails they will get.

Aren't folks choosing to not "take advantage" of this offer already voicing their displeasure? Don't see any reason to be angry or upset...if something is not a good deal, just choose to not participate. If it sells out fine, but that is a choice that will be made by the individual member.

I think people are taking this way too personally. I am not trying to "force" people to voice their anger to MS. I kept reading about all the anger and thought maybe we should let them know instead of tossing it all around among ourselves.

buck4568- I understand that some members may have gotten used to "perks", but we were never members when the "free tickets" were included and other perks. The only perk we really get is the discount on UMP. Personally, I think the points for the cruise are really high.

As for this cruise, I feel that it being a "charter" shouldn't affect our costs and that since they KNOW there are so many members and it will for sure sell out, they can charge whatever they want and members will pay.
I think that makes members look naive and stupid. JMHO. I am not trying to insult anyone, I just read all the time about how members think we should get more perks. So, when they advertise a SPECIAL, I expect one. JMHO.

They DID NOT advertise a CRUISE SALE - they advertised a "special cruise". So far, we know that "special cruise" means it is limited to DVC members and there will be two days at Castaway Cay instead of one.

I AGREE WITH YOU, however, that these two "perks" are not worth the extra point cost, and we SHOULD let MS know it.

Disney made a PR mistake on this one - if they had simply kept the SAME point schedule as the other value season cruises, and advertised it as a cruise for their "special customers", all the DVC members would be fighting for a chance to get on this cruise.

Again, I agree completely! We are not arguing for a sale...we are arguing because it costs MORE.
Sure, it would be awesome to meet other members, but we have done that on other cruises. Sorry guys, no offense, but I am not sure cruising with ONLY members is worth more. LOL!!!

Kamy

Same point schedule and I would be cruising. I am just sick of the feeling that DVC is sticking it to its members. I want them to show me why this costs more, not just because it is "special".

I sent an e-mail to MS asking what the cash cost is for a cat. 4 or 2 cat. 10s. I received an e-mail back today...

Cat. 4 - $1353 per person (1st and 2nd)
Cat. 10 - $813 per person (1st and 2nd)

Children ages 3-12 - $377

This just blows me away. You could get a 7 day cruise for very close to those prices. I hope they make it very special for those people that are going.

I do believe that I will stay with the "old-fashioned" DVC cruise. You know, the one where you and up to eleven other members go to/from OKW & Downtown Disney. ;)

Count this family out. Even if we did have the points available (we're already booked on the july 7 day); even if we had the cash available (YIKES!!!) we wouldn't go because it's not "special" in my definition of special to pay more than the true value of the cruise. True value being the same cost as the cruise prior and the cruise after. Yet another thing that has me disappointed in DVC and their treatment of DVC cruisers. Go ahead, shoot away, I've got my flak jacket on....
