Just Saved over $400 using Disney gift cards purchased at Target!

I would love for this to work. We need to buy about $4000 in Disney gift cards to pay for dues and an upcoming cruise. I just don't think it will work. Can you buy that much in one transaction?

I am using a travel agent for my WDW and DCL trip. We will have over $10,000 in fees to Disney so buying cards at reduced rate is definitely a savings. 5% is $500 and 20% is $2000 respectively. The problem is the highest dollar amount gift card Target has is $50. I do not feel comfortable having my TA call in all those cards up to 200 cards. I called Disney and they said I had to go through my travel agent to make payment. Do any of you have any experience with this?:firefight

Yes you have to go through your agent to make the payments. But the real issue is that its unlikely that Target will have $10000 worth of gift cards on hand for a single transaction. Unless they keep lots of them in a safe somewhere that a manager can access.

It's great that you have 5 Targets stores that you can go to. I only have 1 that is 2 hours away, and then another one that is another hour away from that one. But if you need to go to the 5 stores to get what you need, you'll need to have 5 of the coupons.

I too wish everyone well in their pursuit!!

Yep, I was going to mention the same thing - you'd need to have a 20% off coupon for each store you had to visit since they are only good for one usage. I have three Targets in my city, however I won't have three different 20% off coupons to use more than likely. My Target stays pretty well stocked, but with this info "out there", I'm sure they'll be depleted faster than usual.

I meant that if one Target doesn't have the amount I need then I would risk going to another and hoping they do :) I won't need most of my GCs until 2016 and my RedCard limit is only $500 so I'm going to max that out when I get my 20% off :D

One other question I have, is using the red card online the only way to get free shipping on Black Friday or do they typically have free shipping deals as well, regardless of the form of payment?

Even though I have a TA I am still able to make payments on line myself, my TA was surprised about this too:cool1:

One of the perks to the Red card is free shipping, always, not just on BF! :thumbsup2

Got it!! I now understand what you were saying :) Let's hope for all of us they have where we need them and how many we all need! :rotfl:

Hmm...I've never been able to pay online after my DCL reservation was transferred over. That's actually how I was able to tell in the past when it was transferred over to Costco from DCL because the ability to pay online was taken away. I'm sorry if I missed it but I'm assuming you are also referring to DCL and not WDW? I'd LOVE to be able to pay online since I always buy the gift cards but alas I call each and every one in to Costco but the savings is worth it in the end.

So am I correct in hearing that you can make a purchase online and get the 20% off coupon? I will be out of town and not around a target. Thanks!

Yes, you should be able to do it . Their Black Friday preview ad specifically mentions getting the 20%-off coupon with a $75 purchase.

Do you think that for the purchase of $75 you have to make to earn the 20% off coupon, it could be $75 worth of Target gift cards?? Then turn around and use those to purchase the Disney GC later with the coupon? Not to be cheap, lol, but trying to save money any way possible right before our trip, and we're not even buying Christmas presents.....Disney IS our Christmas presents! (DD19 and I are going over Christmas week).

Looking at the exclusions on the ad and I don't see anything about gift cards....you just may be onto something.

Does anyone know if you make more than one purchase of $75 each, can you get more 20% coupons? Also does the red card give you 5% off on Target gift cards? TIA Friends!

no on the target cards they have to be entertainment cards to get 5% off.

I read it the same way. No stacking with pharmacy but red card should be fine. My only fear is that they consider them gift cards and not entertainment cards. I'm planning to buy about 55 of them so I'm praying it works!!!

I can't wait for the brave guinea pigs here to try it with the Disney gcs! I also worry it won't work, as recently I tried a 10% off purchase moving coupon which stated same exclusions, and it did not work on Disney cards. I'm pretty sure the 5% off we get all the time, and the stacked Pharmacy Rewards that some of us get, is the tipping point of the Disney/Target relationship that balances us planning extra or more extravagant Disney trips because we save so much money :rotfl2: vs. Disney and Target raking in our money. I just don't see us all getting almost 25% off our Disney trip, though I hope I'm wrong!

I also tried one of the mover's coupons and it didn't work on Disney gift cards yet it had the exact same verbage as their previous coupons which did work on Disney gift cards. So, I'm with you. I'd love to see this work but my recent experience tells me it may not :(

I don't mind being a guinea pig. I budgeted for our trip only counting on the 5% redcard discount. So getting a pharmacy rewards discount or especially this potential 20% discount will just be less money we have to spend. I'll be buying my giftcards December 1st either way. :)

Me too....buying the cards with a pharmacy discount and red card on Dec 1 no matter what. Sure would love if the 20% off works; but either way, I'll be buying.

Me too! Just concerned about the limits - whether it's a store limit or red card limit or even bank limit....wish they would let you pay cash...

If you have the Red CC, can't you just ask what your limit is? I'd imagine one transaction or more won't matter. The Debit is another story as they do seem to impose secret limits :/
