We just returned from yet another fabulous 7 days in Disney on The Dining Plan! :goodvibes If you have any questions about the following places we dined, I would be more than happy to answer your questions! :goodvibes

-Maya Grill (Breakfast)
-Raglan Road
-'Ohana (Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch)
-Chefs de France
-Kona Cafe
-Pepper Market
-Tangierine Cafe
-Pecos Bill
-Backlot Express

I would like to hear what you thought of Raglan Road, we are trying it for the first time next month. The menu looked interesting and my DH is a big fan of irish music so we are hoping to hear the band.

How was Maya Grill and Tangierine Cafe? What did you order?

-Kona Cafe -Was it dinner? What did you order?
-Pepper Market- Tell me all about it.
-Tangierine Cafe-Do you have children? What did they eat?
-Pecos Bill- Good?
-Backlot Express- What did you order? Were you pleased?

Thank you!popcorn::

Raglan Road----We like Irish food, so we're trying it. What did you order and did you like it? Did you order any children's meals? When did the entertainment begin?

OHana Breakfast---I know this is served family style, but if you want seconds of just one or two things, can you get just that? Or do they bring the whole pre-plated meal again? Did you like it?

Chefs de France---We're eating dinner here. Aside from a general review, what did your group (adults and kids) order and how was it?

Oh....And if anyone in your group celebrated a birthday, did any of the restaurants do anything special to recognize it, even if it was a small thing?

THANKS SO MUCH!:thumbsup2

Raglan Road was WONDERFUL!! :cool1: It is now our favorite Disney dining spot, hands down! We actually cancelled an ADR at another place to eat at RR twice. :thumbsup2 The first time was an early dinner (5ish) and very relaxing. The second time we planned a late dinner (9ish) to check out the entertainment. What a wonderful time we had! At each visit, the service was excellent, the atmoshere was warm, inviting & relaxing though fun, too! The food? Two thumbs up! I will post what we ordered below. :upsidedow

How was Maya Grill and Tangierine Cafe? What did you order?
Maya Grill-We had breakfast there as we were staying at the resort and wanted a quiet relaxing breakfast one morning. The atmosphere was just that-very relaxing and quiet. The food was basic "buffet" food yet everything was so fresh and warm and the fruit station had a huge variety of fresh yummy fruit. The coffee was quite good-although we never got a refill...onto the service...The place was basically empty with our server only having two other tables besides us. He started off as the perfect server. Yet as he walked away, he turned and asked if we were on the Dining Plan. After we said yes, he smiled and walked away. That was the last time he ever came to our table although he was standing close by at the server station during most of our meal. He asked the next table that was seated after us the same thing yet they siad "No, we are not on the dining plan." Man, I kid you not-they were treated like Royalty while we never got refills on juice coffee and our dirty dishes were never removed and still piled up when we left. :sad2:

Tangieine Cafe-My DH, DS10 and I shared two Shawarma Platters. Delicious as always and we just love sitting outdoors in Morocco under an umbrella people watching as we enjoy thisa wonderful lunch!! :thumbsup2

I will post about Kona Cafe and The Pepper Market in a little bit. As for the Counter Services...

TANGIERINE CAFÉ: One of our family favorites! :cool1: My 10 yo son loves it as much as we do! As the platters are HUGE, my DH, DS and I shared two chicken & lamb Shawarma Platters which comes with hummus, tabbouleh, couscous salad and Moroccan bread. YUM! YUM! YUMMY!! The only drawback on The Dining Plan is that you can only get the baklava for dessert although it is also quite yummy.

BACKLOT EXPRESS: The crazy hustle & bustle of this place was a tad overwhelming to me! And although the food is really nothing to write home about, our lunch “hit the spot.” DS10 had the standard hotdog & fries, DH had a Double cheeseburger and fries and I had the grilled turkey panini with arugula and roasted red peppers which was “tasty.” One plus was that my son was able to get a huge frozen coke cooler on the Dining Plan.

PECOS BILL: This is the second trip that we ate here and although the food is just “eh” the place was dark & cool-great after being out in the hot Florida sun! DS10 had the taco salad which he enjoyed. DH had the double cheeseburger made good with all the goodies at the Fixins’ Bar. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was good although the side of beans looked scary. We got little bags of sliced apples and a cookie which we took with us for a later snack.

Raglan Road----We like Irish food, so we're trying it. What did you order and did you like it? Did you order any children's meals? When did the entertainment begin?

No kids meals-my DS10 is now an "adult" on the DP. The entertainment started about 9ish and made for a fabulous evening! :thumbsup2 Here is what we ordered-sorry so long but we can not say enough about RR! So wonderful we ate there twice during this trip! :cool1:

Seared Scallops: Perfectly prepared with a wonderful sweet corn relish and candied lemon. Delish!
Goats Town: One of the most delicious dishes I have ever had! A wonderful goat cheese lightly seasoned & “fried” and served with grilled crostini, a raspberry compote and fresh raspberries. Simply perfect!
Dalkey Duo: It was served in a fun way-on top of forks sticking up from a wooden plate. Not only was it “fun,” it was also quite yummy and the mustard dipping sauce was perfect.

Serious sirloin steak:
Grilled exactly the way I ordered it & glazed with a scrumptious Irish whiskey glaze and drizzled with a very light basil oil. Although it comes with “plain”mashed potatoes, the server happily let me replace them with colcannon, a delicious dish of mashed potatoes, sautéed onion s, cabbage and bacon. YUMM!

Shepard’s Pie:
RR twist is to make this with prime rib and lamb. This was the only dish I was disappointed in. It simply had no flavor and so I just nibbled a bit.

Paddy’s Pork:
My DH enjoyed this so much that he ordered it both nights! It was the most flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth tender pork we had ever had! The sausage stuffing and the honey soy glaze were both fantastic yet not overwhelming. Wonderful!!

Salmon of Knowledge: I agreed with my DS-the best salmon we have ever had! And my son knows his salmon! He got the maple glaze on the side yet ended up loving it!

Fish & Chips:
Nothing “fancy” yet cooked perfectly and served with a wonderful fresh tartar sauce.

Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding:
Oh, my! Heaven in a mug! In fact, it was sooo good that my DS and DH both ordered it again on our second night! The light warm custard and carmel sauces, served on the side for to die for. YUM!

Tiramisu Cheesecake: It was ok, a little dry yet then again I find most cheesecakes on the dry side.

Sampler: Served in little espresso cups, there was a white chocolate mousse, a dark chocolate mousse and a Bailey’s Coffe Cream Pot-“Tiramisu with an Irish Twist.” My DH and DS patiently waited for me while I devoured every last bite.. :upsidedow

OHana Breakfast---I know this is served family style, but if you want seconds of just one or two things, can you get just that? Or do they bring the whole pre-plated meal again? Did you like it?

To tell you the truth, I don't know how seconds are brought to you! :lmao: We were so stuffed with the first skillet that we never asked for more. Although my DH did ask for seconds of the pineapple bread which was brought to us in a basket with a yummy nut butter. We loved the food and the atmosphere-relaxing and upbeat at the same time. Our server was hoppin' every second yet the service was excellent! :thumbsup2 The only disappointment was that although we saw Lilo and Stitch, the other characters vever made it anywhere close to our table. After waiting for what seemed like forever, we left without ever seeing them. Disappointing? Yes. Yet just another reason to have to start planning the next trip! :lmao:

:sad2:
Chefs de France---We're eating dinner here. Aside from a general review, what did your group (adults and kids) order and how was it?

Chefs de France? Oh, what a disappointing experience. :sad2: Just our humble opinions, of course!

-Wild Mushroom & Four Cheese Flatbread-Tasty altough ice cold
-Escargot-The flavor was ok, though a bit overpowering. The toughness of the snails was the real turn off
-Lobster Bisque-Edible

Roasted Flounder with lobster reduction and sautéed fennel-Sounded good on the menu...
-Seared Salmon-My son adores salmon made just about anyway. After three little bites he pushed away his plate. After one bite, I knew why
-Lamb Shank -My DH loves lamb yet this dish was so tough and "gristle-ridden" that he also just simply pushed his plate away

I do have a question. I am going for a week in September with my wife and 3 yr old (just barely by a week). We are going with the free dining plan. I know that, upon check-in, our account will be credited with 21 "quick-service" credits, 21 "table-service" credits, and 21 "snack" credits.

Are the credits segregated between adult credits and child credits?

Let's say we have dinner a Maya Grill, my wife and I order dinner and share with my daughter. Would we be charged with two TS credits with 19 TS credits left or would I have 12 "Adult TS" credits and 7 "Child TS" credits???

I would like to may my credit values stretched out.

Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks for the review on Raglan Road, I was hoping that it would be good because I decided to give up our ADR at Le Cellier to have dinner in DTD instead that night.

 Oh no! I was going to order the escargot at Chefs de France! And I, like your son, am a fool for salmon. Hmmmm......

But that review of Raglan Road has me jazzed. I swear, looking at the menu, I could eat there 3-4 times in one trip. :thumbsup2 The reviews of Le Cellier are so on & off and I could only get a lunch ressie there for our last day. I am halfway tempted to wait until we eat at RR and if we love it as much as we expect to, trade our last day LC lunch for another RR meal. :woohoo:

Thanks for the details.

I wish I could answer your question yet my son was 10 yo and therefore considered an Adult on the DP. Yet I am sure someone else will be able to answer your question!

We love Le Cellier yet our two experiences at Raglan Road were the best we have ever had at Disney! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Carefull! This can get you into a lot of trouble here on DIS. You can share with your daughter if you choose, but TS adult and child credits are separated and you will end up with extra Child TS credits. You can not use a child's credits for adult meals. Sorry.

 Oh no! I was going to order the escargot at Chefs de France! And I, like your son, am a fool for salmon. Hmmmm....

As I said above, this was just our experience and I know others love the food at Chefs de France and so I do not want to discourage anyone from going!

Raglan Road was great in every aspect and as you read, we did trade in another ADR to eat at Raglan Road a second time this trip! :thumbsup2 Yet we also had a wonderful experience at Le Cellier last September! I know, I know...decisions, decisions...:lmao:

-Kona Cafe -Was it dinner? What did you order?

Lump Crab Cakes: Full of flavor with a delicious pineapple relish, our DS10 did not want to share his Crab cakes! QUITE GOOD!
Duck Pot Stickers: My DH really enjoyed these-light yet full of flavor
Seafood Chowder: Being a New Englander (RI) I was pleasantly surprised!

Shrimp & Scallops: Not as good as “us New Englanders” get at home yet tasty and the sticky rice was actually very tasteful!
Char Crusted Filet Mignon: Incredibly tender and cooked just as askedwith sweet delicate asparagus YUMMY
Coconut Almond Chicken: A little “sweet” for our taste yet grilled perfectly. The Asian greens with fresh fruit and almonds served on the side were light & delish!

DESSERTS & DRINKS: None of the desserts really "jumped out at us" and so we skipped this course. Yet the pressed pot coffee was quite good, as was the tropical smoothie which were both availabe on the Dining Plan.
