Went 8/13 to 8/20. Room 3416 in the 50's section facing the lake.

After staying at the Contemporary last year and going value this year, I did not have duluxe expectations. I was not disappointed!

Myth 1 - Too much noise/walls are paper thin and you hear everything. Didn't hear much noise above the typical noise level in a hotel room.

Myth 2 - Room is too small - we are a family of 4 and packed for 8 days. We had enough room for luggage and drawer space for clothes. Would I have preferred a queen sized bed for my wife and I? Sure! However, the double beds were satisfactory.

Myth 3 - The matresses are like sleeping on rocks, etc. The mattresses were fine. No problems sleeping.

Myth 4 - Hear constant toilet flushing from other rooms. Heard a few here and there, but were hardly noticable.

Check in was efficient. They did not have my room requests in my reservation which was a little disturbing, but we got exactly what we wanted in terms of room location.

Our location gave us decent access to the parking lot and Classic Hall. The pools were clean; lifeguards attentive. All three pools were pretty cool.

Mousekeeping was good. We got our first towel animals ever! We ended up with 3 for our 8 day stay.

Overall the grounds were clean and neat and landscaping manicured.

Classic Hall food offerings - we had breakfast most days at POP, a few lunches and 1 dinner. Food offerings were what I expected after reading threads on this board. The refillable mugs are a bargin! The floors around the refill stations in the evenings tended to get a little sticky, but given the volume of people refilling all the time that is to be expected. The quality was satisfactory. Most of our lunch and dinner dining was in the parks and other resorts.

The reason we selected POP was based on our touring plan. We did not plan on staying at the resort much. We tend to get to the parks when they open and stay until they close. We altered that strategy somewhat on this trip because of the heat.

I really don't have anything negative to say about POP. :sunny: Would I stay there again? I would say YES!

BTW it was hotter than hell!!!

Any specific questions or comments let me know.

have they ditched those horrid "stitch" wake-up calls yet?

Thank you Joe Mouse! I hate reading bad reports about POP since we'll be living there in 2 weeks so your report was such a relief! Thanks for taking the time to post! :flower:

Thanks for the report! :)

We'll be staying at Pop Century in about 2 months, and it will be our first time at a value resort. I have to say, I have no trepidation what so ever about staying there :)

The character you get depends on the time (minute) of the call. For example...

7:00 Stitch
7:01 Mickey
7:02 Minnie
7:03 Goofy
7:04 Donald
7:05 Chip
7:06 Dale
7:07 Cinderella
7:08 and on Mickey

BTW I love those stitch wake up calls. :earboy2:

How cool. I am only going for 5 nights so we are just going to have to set up wake up calls just to hear them all. I can't wait.

Nice report...this is why we will be making our 2nd trip to Pop on Thursday!

Welcome Back!! Thanks for the nice report. We stayed there and my husbands and my thoughts exactly about the bed size but it worked ok for us also.

:) I stayed at Pop a few weeks ago and I loved it. Loved it in Dec. as well. I wasn't crazy about the food court, but that was not a dealbreaker for me.

I've honestly never had a bad stay anywhere at WDW. :sunny:

thank you for the report. This is our first time going to Disney and we are staying at POP Century. We leave in 16 more days and after hearing your report I'm really getting excited about it. Thanks alot!

Thanks for that, DD 17 and I are headed there tomorrow. We were due to stay at POR with an AP rate, however free dining came in and everything changed!
I think we made the right decision :cool1:

Rantnravin - our wake up calls were provided by Mickey each day. We didn't have any other characters. Didn't know they staggered the characters on the wake up calls.

Some other comments.......

Did not use the Disney Bus Service as we rented a car. I've observed that the busses move too slow for my taste and by renting a car it allows us more sleep time/park time and is more efficient getting from place to place.

As we rented a car we did not use Magical Express. A friend of mine who joined us on the trip did use Magical Express and had to wait almost 4 hours for his lugguage to arrive. He thought it was lost.

Pop also let us check out at 1 PM instead of 11 AM! My friend who was staying at the Grand Floridian didn't get that benefit even though they said it was available. They told him he had to check out by 11 AM as they needed his room for another guest.

I did a split stay in May staying two nights at POP, renting DVC points for BWV for five nights, then going back to POP for a final two nights. I had serious doubts about POP, but fell in love with it. I had absolutely no problem leaving BWV after five nights and going back to POP. I liked it so much that I'm staying there again next month with my son and D-I-L.

In May I had a corner room on the third floor in Lady's Building as close as I could get to Classic Hall right next to the bowling pin stairwell. I was only a couple of minutes at the most from Classic Hall and was closer than most rooms in the Preferred 60's section. I never heard a sound and the bed was very comfortable. CMs were friendly and even though I was traveling solo, I got a total of six towel animals for the four nights I was there. Bus service was better than at BW (we didn't share a bus and buses came more frequently). I never waited more than about 8-10 minutes for any bus.

Thanks for taking the time to report! We'll be there in 5 weeks!
